Technically how is this possible? If the xbone and ps4 have similar power how can the ps4 be this much smaller? Also, should the ps4 be louder or quieter because of the size? I guess it depends on what size fans are in there. The back looks like it's all exhaust so I'm hoping it is quieter than the slim ps3 which still whirs up a bit even just to watch netflix.
I have a first generation PS3 that still works.
Haha, just showed this to a colleague - she said, "It's like a really skinny guy with a huge cock but you can't tell."
No one's saying you don't, but disc drive issues and the YLOD are still things that exist. They're not as severe or widespread as the RROD, obviously, but they're still hardware issues that can be traced back to the console's design on some level.
I'm still not sure where I'm going to put all these systems... I am running on barely any space at this point...
I think one of these is going to have to sit on the floor... and I'm not exactly pumped about that.
Seems accurate, good job.
Launch ps3 still the classiest. I wish my 60gb still worked.
Yes you can, just look at the original pic.You literally can't even tell that that is where the PS4 disc is supposed to go...
To be honest, this is no surprise to me. Microsoft is primarily a Software company - not a Hardware company - and they don't even do that particularly well.
The PS4 is about the right size for the tech. The XBone has been made the size of a cable TV box, as that's what they want people to think it is.
Now I understand why that image doesn't make sense to me. It's smaller in volumne and in width, but the PS4 is longer than wide.

Volume is what matters, and it's smaller by quite a bit.
Seems accurate, good job.
This is honestly the most interesting thing to me at this time, that and the power buttons.Has anything been said about that blue light?
Those red boxes aren't anywhere close to the same size.
From the other thread. As promised, to scale comparisons of the three next gen consoles.
The Xbox 360
The silver slot on the One is throwing off your perspective. They're the same.
stand it up?
Those red boxes aren't anywhere close to the same size.
On PS4 noise concerns: Do we have approximate TDP totals for the new consoles yet? They should be a good bit lower than the launch versions of the 360 and PS3, considering they both have what are essentially laptop CPUs compared to Xenon and Cell being relatively hot and power-hungry. I'd also think the SoC design would simplify the cooling setup a bit.
I can confirm this. The red boxes are not the same size.I just measured them. They're not.
Too bad this isn't high res enough to say for sure. The Xbox's red box should be smaller. If you shrink the red box down to where the actual disk slot is, rather than including the inward slopes, its the same size as the PS4's box.
a software company lacking in hardware. what a surprise.
sony will always come out on top when its about this stuff.
