Skyrim Switch Trailer (Link amiibo support)

This. We're of course going to need the comparison videos but at first glance that looks like the special edition graphics wise. What setting level it is should be the debate I think.

Probably a lower level. I love the Switch but let's not go crazy :P

Don't mind the idea of this

Have avoided Skyrim largely so it's fresh for me

Is the DLC good stuff?

DLC are huge expansions. So yeah. One adds a whole new class that the OG game didn't have for you to transform to.

All I really want is for switch to have mods. I'd love the 'a new beginning' mod.

Looked good but would have like to see more full screen gameplay. Any details if this is the special edition or if it supports mods?

I am already disgusted by the glimpse of that Link model we got lmao

but this is great news

I'm pretty bullish on Skyrim for Switch, but they didn't show the face for a reason. Skyrim face models are hilariously bad by modern standards. Plus they probably didn't want to draw too much attention to the idea that your Skyrim character will be cosplaying as link while looking like Sandor Clegane.

I gotta be honest, those are some pretty immersive motion controls. I know they won't be for everyone and I imagine I'd really only want to try them out but not use them full time, but they look... so much more involved than I ever would have guessed in a million years. Like sure you swing your hand to swing your sword and you raise your hand to raise your shield, and you aim with the gyro, but the fact that you use the right JoyCon as the "arrow" and the left as the "bow" and you have to actually draw the arrow across the bow and back before release is crazy. I can't think of any other motion control that... immersive? Probably stuff on Vive or Oculus but I know nothing of their existence (please anyone feel free to give examples if there are).

Also, lol at now showing Link's face. The bottom of his face looks terrible and his "hair" from the back looked so so bad. Can you create your own character in Skyrim? Maybe they didn't show his face because it's not actually Link, it's just Link's clothes and weapons on your player-created character?

Yo that was def 60fps when they showed the link footage probably because it was the only part of the trailer that was running on the switch. HYPED!

Yes, you create you're own character in Skyrim and yes of course that's just an armour set and nothing more.

Looks good! I'm terrified of Skyrim... I've never played and I know I'll spend way too much time with it.

Motion controls seem interesting but I probably won't use them long-term.

"This is some wild shit," or so I thought at first. It's pretty nice, still, but nothing groundbreaking. Hoping this sells well enough that we get future Bethesda games, tho.

I've ever only played and finished Skyrim on PS3 (and never got around to the DLC) so I'm definitely day one for this. Being able to play something like this on the go will be great.

Motion controls could pair really well with HD rumble. Haven't played skyrim yet so I'm really looking forward to this.

Thats what I was thinking.

Never played Skyrim so this seems like a great start.
Worried about the motion controls since gyro is what would make this game feel good but it looks like it's just to swing a sword or shoot an arrow (no aiming?) hope that's not the case

Give me good 3D Rumble support and I'll be soooooo happy.

That's exactly why. That's the default Nord model, it's not supposed to be Link.

Yeah its not Link. In Skyrim you create an OC

Part of me says pick this up, the part of me reminds myself that I've tried playing Skyrim multiple times and end up putting it down after 30-40 minutes every time, just doesn't grab me like I want it to.

Now you can pick it up and put it down anywhere though!

Bethesda's Twitter said "Fall 2017". Guess it's gonna be September or October.
To cater to the "hip" demographic the Switch tries to win over.
It's about as new as the game :P. Actually I kinda get the impression some executive asked for a song like in Nintendo's Super Bowl ad and this was the closest thing they could come up with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUDkrkykvZs .

Even if it's an old game, Skyrim is hugely important for the Switch and is probably the game with most mass-market buzz after Zelda. I believe Minecraft was one of the top-selling Wii U games despite showing up years late. I wouldn't be surprised if later this year we see Nintendo highlighting Minecraft and Skyrim as examples of 3rd party success stories on Switch.

Motion aiming, thank heavens. Not as sure about motion on the sword and shield, but I'd assume it's optional if it doesn't work out. Including all expansions is a nice and probably necessary perk given how conscious everyone must be of the price disparity between a new retail release and the frequent steep discounts on PC.

Might finally jump into this, though making the time for it may be a challenge. Not sure if I'd rather have it on digital or physical, though, depending on whether I'm likelier to dabble in it for a few hours here and there between other games, or binge on it and feel finished enough to tuck the cartridge away. Hope we get a broader range of Amiibo support, too, or this will drive BotW Link straight off the market like BotW itself already did for the older Zelda figures.
