Skyrim Switch Trailer (Link amiibo support)

why in the WORLD would they use that song when they have the Skyrim soundtrack
I think it's gotten to the point where everyone knows Skyrim, everyone knows the "epic" angle. They seemed to be going for a fun "hey, you can play this ANYWHERE! And on a NINTENDO CONSOLE! Take a walk, play it on your walk, and then take a walk in Skyrim!"

I mean... it didn't really work well, but that's what they were going for.

Wasn't really interested in Skyrim to be fair (a bit redundant after Zelda it seemed), motion control sealed the deal however.
If it's not outright shite I'll own and play this.
Good job on the port Bethesda, you finally managed to sell me on a copy!
No way I was gonna touch the ps3 version.

now i'm worried about switch.
Skyrim port will be fine. I'm not worried about the hardware. What's concerning is how Bethesda felt like the switch audience is a very specific thing that needed to marketed a very specific way that unlike the other gamers. If that's the perception of the hardware, regardless the tech specs or market share, Nintendo Switch has more problems than I thought.

Yes, you create you're own character in Skyrim and yes of course that's just an armour set and nothing more.
Ah cool, ok! I dunno if it's "of course" cause I was responding to someone who was wondering too though!

Thats what I was thinking.
Yeah!

That's exactly why. That's the default Nord model, it's not supposed to be Link.

Yeah its not Link. In Skyrim you create an OC

Nice! Looking forward to this, I've never played an Elder Scrolls game.

I do kinda feel this way aswell, some devs when saying they wont put a game on switch usually say it has to be a certain type of game, like 2K said, a family friendly game, the thing is we literally have numbers from nintendo of what the current largest group of gamers on the switch are, which is male between the ages of 18 and 35

I hope the motion controls for the bow feel great. If it properly uses the rumble it has the potential to be awesome (like it feels on Vive). I'm on board for this game.

The trailer posted on Nintendo's youtube page mentions Holiday 2017. Guess it was pushed back.

It's always been "Fall", which pretty much means anywhere from September to the end of the year in the gaming world.

You shouldn't be worried about Switch, but you should not expect much western third party support. That trailer was ridiculous and showed that Bethesda, like most western third parties, believe the system only caters to casual consumers.

At least the port itself looks to be a decent effort.

Pachter's face killed me. Sorry I couldn't get a shot without the bar but lol

Here you go.

Welp... try Craigslist or eBay? Sometimes stores have stuff and I feel like they don't like to update on their stock with stuff cause I called my bestbuy and they said they're sold out if switches and I went to look and they had 2 neon.

Oh I already have a switch. I just don't want people's hopes raised unnecessarily.

This trailer is wrong on so many levels
- That music
- That Link outfit (WTF?)
- Those motion controlls oO
- No release date
- Still no clarification if it will have all the DLC (?)

But yeah, Skyrim on the go is at least something. I always wanted something like that on a handheld (Xenoblade on 3DS came close). Too bad it's an over 5 years old game I already played to death.

We know it has all the DLC.

you don't have to wear the outfit, you don't have to use the motion controls but they're a nice "let's try them" option, it has all the DLC.

Guessing they can't call it SE as it has no mod support and lacks some of the upgraded graphics. It's clearly somewhere in between and looks better than vanilla.

All the DLC is a given but with them using amibo I would be surprised if it has mods, people would just mod in the amibo content.

Bruh

Are they serious with that music in a Skyrim trailer? Holy shit lol.

you mean the upgraded version with better graphics/effects?

Doubtful.
You can see the upgraded lighting as soon as the trailer starts.

What's missing? And i thought they confirmed PS4-like mods support.

Yeah and they are out of their minds how over the top they reacted. "I don't want this so what the fuck"
Wow.

*watches video. See's Link outfit/amiibo support and cringes"

"Why do these random ass games have to shoehorn some completely irrelevant Nintendo object in to sell to Nintendo gamers? Can't they just sell their game? Do they not think the market is there and that Switch owners won't buy a game without Nintendo fanservice? It cheapens both brands and takes away from the 3rd party game lore/atmosphere."

*Reads first page of thread.*

"God damn it."

The Skyrim character wearing Link's clothes came across as super creepy to me for some reason. Like some haggard drunk man wearing children's attire.

Classic drive by 'pretend to be concerned but really trolling' post.

Amiibo support would have been better if it supported the Isabelle amiibo.
Made me thinking. Imagine a Skyrim with support for ALL amiibos and the ability to change every NPC's outfit. That would have been a true creepshow. Perfectly fitting for a Switch exclusive Sheogorath sidequest :D

Or maybe Nintendo produced the clip and Bethesda used it? Just a thought.

So I guess, from this footage - the chosen Handheld/Docked graphics settings seem to be 720p30 Handheld, and then 720p60 Docked?

Would be an interesting choice if the case - not just because it seems an uncommon one in general (vs. up-ressing), but also because it would be the first console version at 60fps? Perhaps they might simply wish to differentiate the Switch version a bit from the rest, of course.

I would be perfectly happy with that. Or an option for 720p60 or 900p30/1080p30

I believe this is more a problem of Nintendo as a brand, and if anything, the Switch is helping them look more possitive in people's perception. Is the reason Nintendo consoles didn't get The Sims versions back in the Wii days, but got MySims, Chibi NFL, strange FinalFantasy spinoffs and more recently, the cartoon NBA 2k game (tbf, that one looks fun). Almost none of this experiments have been commercial successes, but hey! is what the marketing researches keep coming up with.

The frame rate looks a bit low but the important part is that it has all the DLC and for the most part looks quite good. That music choice tho :P

This leaves me wondering what kind of presence Skyrim will have in Nintendo's own presentation. Obviously it would be a disappointment to see a straight repeat of this clip when the expected 25 minutes of the Spotlight are already so precious, but I also can't imagine Nintendo not covering this game, nor do I see a more succinct way to communicate the value of the Switch edition—in the span of a minute, the graphical fidelity, Amiibo support, the motion controls. Maybe we'll see it in a third-party sizzle reel with the bulk of the game's showing set aside for a Treehouse segment, but Skyrim does stand to be one of the more significant third-party retail releases on the system, so I expect it to receive proportionate attention whether we like it or not.

Put about 100 hours into the original on PC and haven't played any of the expansions. I'll pick this up for sure if we hear it runs decently etc!
