There's a really melancholy feel to this stage...it's visiting a place fondly remembered from childhood and finding it in ruins.

Super Mario Bros. World 1-1 was the first true level I ever tackled in a video game. It holds a certain nostalgia for me.

-After spending quite a bit of time in his shadow, Mario punks out Kirby with the Dojo's 31st double update, skipping ahead to 15 updates for his series while Kirby's languishes at 14.

-Final smashes had just surpassed stages and music on Monday; stages and music said "lol no" and updated together, also reaching 23 updates each. Incidentally, I think I've used that "lol no" comment before, which makes me almost as melancholy as Mushroomy Kingdom itself.

-Our five least recent update types are now how to play, assist trophy, item, special moves, and game mode. Thursday is the king of special moves (8 updates) and runner-up of how to play (5 instead of 6), so maybe be on the lookout for those? It's the last place finish for game modes (only 4 out of 33 total), tied for last place for assist trophies (2 out of 15), and tied for first place on items--but it's tied with Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, so that's not saying much. :p

-F-Zero and Nintendo DS are the only icons now without music updates.

-Wednesday ties with Monday as the second least frequent day for stages, at 4 each.

-Bowser hits 44 screenshots, moving past Snake, while Ike hits 57, moving past Donkey and Diddy to tie with Meta Knight.

-Only 5 days of updates remain before the Japanese release date. I'm stunned that we don't know everything yet.

You know, as much fun as this level will be to fight on, I think I'm going to want to go through it alone in Training Mode and just appreciate the atmosphere.

Of course, the atmosphere will be kind of ruined by the screams of exploding CPU characters, but...

I have to wonder how many gamers there are for whom Super Mario Bros. world 1-1 doesn't hold a certain nostalgia.

Maybe it's symbolic of Sakurai's relationship to SSB somehow.

Kondo did a good job with this remix. If there are more tracks of this quality, the game might be worth picking up after all.
People have said it in here both jokingly and seriously before, and I'm among the serious ones: I would buy Brawl for the music alone. (Even if I didn't love the gameplay already.)

Yeah. It's almost like a story told entirely in pictures.

What I find funny is that he is essentially saying nothing else about the game has interested him so far, but this one song has.

seeing this stage like this hearkens back to one of the most memorable Gamecube moments- when Link first sees underwater Hyrule frozen in time in windwaker. Fucking awesome.

That... that was my joke. Anyway

This level isn't really nostalgic to me. I'd rather see Green Hill Zone, but this one is cool too.

I want to know if there's any storyline behind the Mushroom kingdom's downfall. Did princess peach get captured for good, causing the kingdom to fall into chaos? Was this ultimately Bowser's doing? What has happened to the Toadstool bloodline?

I think I may be digging too deeply :lol

Damn this stage is awesome.

I really hope the SSE has a part to play in this

Isn't it even more morbid knowing that all the Blocks and Power-ups from SMB1 are actually Mushroom Kingdom citizens transformed into blocks/power-ups by Bowser's black magic? And that those blocks are still there, meaning they never got turned back?

Holy crap, best scrolling stage EVER. Can't wait to run through it
as Sonic.

This will be really surreal :lol

Awesome stage. As everyone's mentioned.. it makes me feel kind of melancholy :O But also thoughtful!

So, can we expect a Green Hill stage just like this one?
I would be willing to venture a guess of YES. Sakurai loves Kirby. This game is all about that. Did Mario get anything in this game that Kirby didn't?

What does Kirby have to do with Green Hill?

As much as I'd rather not see GHZ show up, I'd still love to see it appear in a similar fashion.

If only to run through it as Mario, though the appeal is slightly diminished by the existence of Somari.

Perhaps 1-1, 1-2 was too close to the bomb in the stadium at the start of SSE. Causing all its lush colorful ness into a drab rotten level, leaving just the memory of the peace of squishing Goombas...

I'd love to see them pull a "Kirby's Adventure" and just toss in a black-and-white tribute to Green Greens from Kirby's Dreamland.

I was thinking of Green Greens. So shoot me.

But Snake got an AWESOME level. Sonic's would fit in as a scrolling one.
OR Casino Zone.

I don't have a gun to shoot you with. Can I like...kick you or something?

That's the story for Super Mario Bros. 1. :lol

They even reflected that in the Super Mario Bros. movie with the King being turned into fungus and giving Luigi the Mushroom and the Bob-omb :lol

I'd be willing to bet there is a green hill stage, but it won't be side scrolling. It would be a platform stage like at the end of green hill zone 3 when you fight robotnik for the first time.

As awesome as this stage is, I hope it doesn't mean we won't get a Galaxy stage. :(

For the Mario franchise we already have three new stages on the Dojo...

Mushroomy Kingdom
Delfino Plaza
Mario Circuit

Plus there is the rumored
Luigi's Mansion stage, glimpsed in one of the trailers
...

Is there still room for a Galaxy stage? :(
