Driveclub was early access too. Nothing new for Sony.
Lol no.

Sigh Hopefully they will redeem themselves..
But what really baffles me how lightheartedly people are taking this online issue fiasco with an online game they paid FULL PRICE with CORE features being instead released at fixed interval..
Talk about misinformed.

They had to release the game this month for the start of the Capcom Cup Pro tour. $500k at stake here but they should of delayed it so a few people on Neogaf wont cry over lack of arcade mode? Yea ok....
As a fighting game, SFV is very much complete. Everyone whining about fighting the CPU. Go to training mode and have a ball. Or maybe you can go online and play a human opponent. Gasp!
Oh BTW, the netcode is amazing.
Wasnt botched, it was planned.
Supported? You mean when they made users buy a new version everytime they added a couple new characters?
True and because of that, the game will eventually appeal to more people. But not now.
Hey man, you're not the "core" audience, you don't understand!Nice to know getting kicked out of story mode because the server goes down was "planned"

I wouldn't even bother anymore. People don't listen. Some of the things I've been reading is mind boggling. Can't wait until 2 months down the line when no one is complaining and we can just get on with playing it. Best Fighting game by a mile.
I'm fine with it because it's being actively being worked on and has improved tons from yesterday to now. That's not to say I'm not disappointed but it's getting there and I'm patient.Sigh Hopefully they will redeem themselves..

If you prefer less, then this sounds like the game for you. Less of everything.
Its a more enjoyable game than its predecessor which is really all that matters, particularly in a competitive fighting game. When did people stop caring about fun? And I can't quite fathom how value is even questionable, the multiplayer scene for this game will go on for years and years. So, game launches with less features than the previous one and f2p mechanics but for the same price and people are ok with this.
Accurate summary or...?
People keep throwing "F2P mechanics" around when it has nothing to do with this game. So, game launches with less features than the previous one and f2p mechanics but for the same price and people are ok with this.

Story isnt even complete, you paid for it when you got the game. You will just receive it later.
Yea you are right. Typical Neogaf Hivemind.
The best part of the game is amazing, the actual fighting! SFV is near perfection right now, i really am excited for the future of this game and community.
No, but it wasn't full retail prices in many places, had an actual single player experience, and didn't have a f2p micro-transaction model right out the gate.
The only content that can be either bought with the earnable or bought currency is future, unreleased stuff, like any other DLC but with the option to get it for free.Oh. I was under the impression there was content locked behind a choice of real world money or virtual currency you have to grind.
And the currently bonked online?

i'm honestly shocked people care this much about a story mode

All the hyperbole. Gameplay and visuals are so good. Netcode is amazing. Game is going to get tons of free DLC and modes as time goes by. Worth every penny.![]()
Wasnt botched, it was planned.
Botched as in it shouldn't have been released so barebones but was forced to because of certain reasons.
We're OK with this because we knew for what was going to be there on release day since Capcom made it very clear. It's only the misinformed and the ignorant who choosed to blindly buy the game without doing any research that are complaining about the lack of content. So, game launches with less features than the previous one and f2p mechanics but for the same price and people are ok with this.

Yeah I think a lot of the complaints come from people who didn't buy and wouldn't buy the game for what it's intended for: competing with other players.
If you don't want that that's fine. There are other fighting games that cater more to a single player audience. Street fighter has always had a few throwaway modes for single player but stuff like the world tour in sfa3 and the rival schools modes were the exception, not the rule.
Those were also done on ports of arcade games that had already made good money in the arcade and were much lower budget than modern games.
i miss the days where people enjoyed video games instead of bitched about them
Some people like fun games with longevity, others like to complain rather than play the game.

There's no F2P mechanics here. You want a full translation of what's going on with the DLC characters without sugar coating it? Capcom is giving casual players the opportunity to get the DLC characters for free without paying a penny but otherwise the hardcore players will get the characters for free because they plan to play the game that much anyways and impatient/casual players will simply pay for the season pass as it has been the case for years.
Wow!!!
capcom really have some dedicated fans.
The amount of justification and the conviction I've seen from them since yesterday is unsettling.
Some Political campaign worthy stuff.

No Capcom did not make it very clear actually. They did not make it clear that story prologue was going to be 4 single round matches on braindead AI, they didn't elaborate on what exactly this mode was fights-wise so most people figured this was the arcade mode replacement which would tell the story prologue for each character. They did not make it clear that despite having a working AI in the game, there would be no VS. AI option which is baffling. We're OK with this because we knew for what was going to be there on release day since Capcom made it very clear. It's only the misinformed and the ignorant who choosed to blindly buy the game without doing any research that are complaining about the lack of content.
Because those that followed the game knew what was happening.

Iissues the game is a failure. Even after the fact that Capcom was pretty upfront about all this.
Never change GAF.
It's hilarious because leading up to the release of this everyone was all, "Wow, Capcom making all the right moves!". "You can buy stuff with in game currency? Nice!" "Full on story mode with cinematics free in a few months? Cool, I can wait."
Now because there's not a bare bones "Fight 10 CPU guys" and typical day one online issues, the game is a failure. Even after the fact that Capcom was pretty upfront about all this.
Never change GAF.
Please show me an instance where capcom said there won't be an arcade mode.
Yeah the missing content will be there (for free I might add) in the coming months and game launch server load will eventually decrease and be more stable since the actual online mode works fine it's just under a lot of stress right now (specially considering that the server has to handle traffic from both PC & PS4 side since the game is Cross Play) but for the time being Capcom is more interested in getting the base game into people's hands to prepare them in time for the upcoming tournament season. So basically the only issues are the lack of certain single player features and launch connectivity problems.
Doesn't seem that terrible.
