Not really, Miyamoto's answer was that he didn't know how to make the series sell better. People usually quote the F-Zero statement in a vacuum which says something like "we don't have any new ideas for the series" but that same response also mentioned Twilight Princess and sales not being where they had hoped in Japan.

I certainly understand that people want a new F-Zero game. I think where I struggle is that I dont really have a good idea for whats new that we could bring to F-Zero that would really turn it into a great game again. Certainly I can see how people looking at Mario Kart 8 could see, through the anti-gravity, a connection to F-Zero. But I dont know, at this point, what direction we could go in with a new F-Zero.
There was another one, that I can't find, where he was mentioning how F-Zero was initially very impressive because of the cutting-edge graphics at the time, but better graphics are not enough anymore to impress people and they would need a new idea that would make sense for them to revisit the series, and they haven't found it yet.
