There are similarities between the OST and MJ's work. What's crazy is that the OST resembles some of his future work as well. So it's very likely that he did the OST.
hell nawh
1) Sonic 2
2) Sonic CD
3) Sonic 1
4) Sonic & Knuckles
sonic 1 megadrive and sonic 1 game gear are my favs
by 3 it all gets too complex and frustrating for me
-One of the best soundtracks of all the games. And that's not saying something as the other classic Sonic games aren't slouches in the OST department as well. I heard Michael Jackson may have wrote some tunes, but I have no idea how accurate that is. Also dat Hydocity Act 2 theme is glorious.
How are the Game Gear Sonics? Are they based on the Master System versions. I think they're on the VC, so I might pick them up. I'm doing a Sonic run of late.

Close. The correct answer is "Sonic 3 & Knuckles".

This guy gets it. Most levels, best graphics, best music, plus Hyper forms for all three characters! Super Chaos Emeralds are so satisfying to get.
Had a question, which are the differences between playing sonic 3, Knuckles, and both together?
I had only played S & K when they are united, but never played the other 2 as standalone games
Other than Marble Zone, I always did like Sonic 3. Both it and S&K have the best level design out of the classic series imo. The one advantage of Sonic 3 over the lock on is that in S&K;you lose the ability to go Super Sonic once you reach Mushroom Hill and can't transform until you beat all the blue sphere games

I recently played this due to the rerelease. Not impressed. It's probably me least fav.
Sonic 3 is the ugliest one. It threw away much of the beautiful geometric landscape and art style. The levels also go on forever.
Sonic 2 is the best of them followed by 1.
No, you can just avoid all the rings and skip the super emerald stuff.
you can actually avoid this by just never going into a special stage again
Gotta admit that Sonic 3 had the best Sonic sprite.
The people who think that Sonic 2 is better than Sonic 3 & Knuckles must be the same sort of people who like Dr. Mario more than Tetris and Super Smash Bros. Brawl more than Melee. But hey, it's OK to like inferior things.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the best Sonic gaming experience one can have, in my view.
Every time I replay S3&K on whatever compilation disc or digital rerelease, I always have fun as much as I did when I played it being a kid. Not to mention it a good amount of the music was great (Hydrocity Zone Act 2 yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees. Plus it goes great with the Fresh Prince theme.)Close. The correct answer is "Sonic 3 & Knuckles".
Sonic 3&Knuckles is my favoirte over just sonic 3, just cause of that bad ass case
I've been messing around with the classic Sonic series, replaying them all of late. I'm on Sonic 3. Not Sonic 3 and Knuckles, just vanilla Sonic 3. I'll do Sonic 3 and Knuckles after beating Sonic 3.
But Sonic 3 is just amazing:

-Favorite Chaos emerald game. I love the sphere game and it kills all the other Chaos emerald games.
-Huge levels. This is where Sonic 3 stands out. The levels are massive and there seems to be so many nooks and cranny and the game design rewards looking for stuff as well.
I know many people love Sonic 2 and I played Sonic 2 when it was released and many times since. It's still great, but too many iffy zones for me to give it the title.
Frankly, I think Sonic's sprite in S3&K looks like rancid poop compared to the Sonic 1/2/CD sprite.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles has both Carnival Night Zone and Sandopolis Zone, both of which are rather annoying long levels. Sonic 2 might've had the annoying Metropolis Zone, but at least it was right near the end of the game.
Yeah but S&K has Sandopolis which is infinitely worse than any of those.I never really liked Sonic 3. It was pretty disappointing to me. Only 6 zones, and half of them are kind of lame.
Angel Island - Superb
Hydrocity - Water? Bleh
Marble Garden - Boring
Carnival Night - Already had my fill of this with Casino Night
Ice Cap - Rad
Launch Base - Pretty good
And that's the game! Pretty weak at the end of the day. I liked Sonic and Knuckles much more.
It is a fixed number, but there's no way anyone would actually get through them. 134,217,728 to be exact.Hands down. As a kid I felt that all gaming had led to that one moment when you could hook them up together. Also not to mention if you tried to insert the first Sonic and you'd get the bonus stages to play through... never did find out if it was an endless mode or not though.
Well, considering I haven't played the Sonic 3 & Knuckles combo yet, I will say Sonic CD until I can see if Sonic 3/Sonic 3 & Knuckles is better. The worst game of them all is Sonic 4 Part 1, though.

I loved CD as a kid, but looking back at it now, wow, the level design is just...wow. See, the brilliance of the level designs of 2 and 3&K IMO was that they were very strongly vertical as well as horizontal, but despite their freedom and despite the repeated tiles they were incredibly smart in laying out actual geometry so that every level had distinct "landmarks" that you could learn quickly and build up an internal representation of the level with. Sonic CD's level design is a mess in contrast, its just so easy to get lost because everywhere looks like everywhere else.
