What is thus guy on about , ihas Sony got bluepoint ???
That image doesn't show anything new, or anything that may lead to thing Sony bought Bluepoint.

Gavin Moore was Japan Studio staff since while before the remake, not Bluepoint staff.

Japan Studio basically acted as publisher of 2nd party games (this is, developed by 3rd party teams like Bluepoint) they handled but sometimes they also co-developed the games or supported their development in some way.

Here is the solution: forget EVO and create an independant "back to the roots" EVO successor through a joint venture of all FGC members. Just collect money, set up a fundraiser or whatnot and create something 100% owned by the community. Viewership and sponsors will eventually come and it will be a massive success. Independance and creative freedom - that's what the FGC viewers want. That's what makes these events fun to watch.
The solution to what problem? The Canon brothers will continue supervising everything in EVO is ok and continues having the same spirit, and Mark Julio is the EVO's business developer, the one who said EVO will continue open to other platforms and Nintendo said they are ok with the purchase. The first announced games mean at least their publishers will support the new EVO.

Sony being involved means there will be higher production values so very likely now there will be higher prize pools, now the staff will get paid instead of working for free or commentating almost free, now there may be a larger venue, with more stands and demo kiosks and more support from the publishers. Because Sony being behind means Sony's giant marketing channels (like their YouTube channel or the PlayStation blog) will throw a lot more audience to the event, which will also benefit the people competing and the developers.

There is nothing bad in the move they did.

The people who wonder why Sony would buy EVO when they don't have first party fighting games, likely never play fighting games.

As many have pointed out by now, Playstation had been the default gaming machine in such events for a long time. Further, it make perfect sense for a platform holder to buy such an event especially when they are supporting all third party titles. It is exactly because Sony doesn't have a game of their own to push that they could be neutral in treating every third party game fairly.

I guess Xbox customers don't understand company purchases unless someone is missing out on something. Sony Buying Evo means everyone wins, and Xbox customers don't get what's the point of it. It is all about hurting others to them.

So they shut down Evolution Studios and Japan Studios only to invest in an esports company called Evo?

To promove Mortal Kombat... unfortunately yes.

This sucks for other consoles for the simple fact that Sony can now dictate what games are allowed at the event. Sony also gains even more leverage with fighting game developers. SF5 being exclusive was already a colossal middle finger to fighting game fans on other platforms. Is SF6 next?

🤣🤣As if this is a big FU to Microsoft's Zenimax purchase! 🤣🤣

Sony: We have to buy something.
Sony: I know!
Sony: <partners up to get EVO>

Sony fans: whoopty dooo!!! You sure showed MS didnt you?!

This is literally some mid-level guy's big move at Sony, and why not? It's peanuts monetarily, EVO was tainted with that Joey guy being outed as being shady as fuck with some kids back in the day.

EVO had a partnership with goddamn ESPN for several years where Street Fighter fucking V was on ESPN across the country. Sony can legitimize the brand and retain those contacts and stand to either lose little or gain a fuck ton of money and give that mid-level guy a promotion.

Sony buying EVO is to get gamers to who like fighting games to buy into the Sony brand. Sony has nothing to lose since they don't make fighting games, aside from that terrible All Stars fighting game way back on PS3.

That's why their big partnerships during PS4 (and now PS5) are heavy into every kind of game except SP narratives their first party devs focus on. And I don't think they partner up on racing games either since they got GT. Shooters, fighting, sports they partner a lot because they don't make them anymore.
