Where are people reading licenses from PS3 won't carry over?
Well, wait a minute. I suppose it just says that your original PS2 classics are incompatible with the PS4, not that they wouldn't give you the PS4 counterpart in the circumstances a ps4 PS2 classic comes out, that you owned on PS3. Just don't expect all your PS2 digitals to go live. Not sure how to read it.
Oh damn. That sucks."Not supporting PS2 classics" That's what they were called on the PS3.
The justification is because this game are upscaled and had trophy support. The trophy suport alone would mean that someone had to manually add those trophy list to the game. There's no way they can retroactively make all the previous ps2 classics to have trophies. This crushes me.
But I'm insanely surprised even PS2 Classics aren't supported.
WTF, Sony?
It is possible the PS2 Classics are restricted by license issues, like PS1 classics are restricted from playing on Vita, for example.
So, it is (in that case) probably a license problem, not a technical one.
lol, what a waste of time. who cares about some dripfeed of games starting from scratch? The dream is dead
Oh, nvm then!
Rebuying PS2 classics? Fuck right off.

Although I was kinda hoping they make a whole new category like "ps2 classics hd" or something so the old ps2 classics without upres and trophy still work.
Which makes sense, since it has never been called that. This can't rightly be called backwards compatibility.

"We have a product for those who want to play PS2 Classics that they already bought, it's called the PS3"
Maybe they'll let you download the new versions of games you've already downloaded? Sony's been pretty good with the whole cross-buy thing.
They NEED to clarify whether PS2 classics we already bought on PS3 have licenses that allow crossbuy with the PS4 equivalent. This is make or break Sony.
I never expected discs, but at the very least allow those of us who have participated in your digital account system to take advantage of those fucking features the same way we do on your other platforms!
Sony has released the following games with brand new graphics, improvements, and going way, WAY beyond simply adding trophies for completely free to previous buyers:
- Flow
- Flower
- Journey
- Unfinished Swan
- Sound Shapes
- Escape Plan
And quite a few more, across the PS3 -> Vita, Vita -> PS4, and PS4 -> Vita versions. All of those involved a ton of work beyond creating a trophy list and running it through what I presume is their emulation algorithm.
They are the ones that created the (reasonable! Amazing! Well-received!) expectations that buying a license in one console entitles us to using it in newer consoles with improvements..
Why does everyone act like the PS2 games they bought digital on PS3 no longer work now that they can be bought on PS4? If you already bought a game, don't rebuy it, just play it like you have been...So much fake outrage lol
Probably because they built a more sophisticated emulator this time around and they added trophies. I'm less worried about buying my PS2 games again than I am about waiting for certain ones to come back. Will SMT nocturne be available at launch? probably not... At least I get to try Dark Cloud for the first time....
The dream is dead
Can't wait for people who ridiculously got their hopes up for disc based emulation to now be outraged at Sony. It was never going to happen. Not sure why the thought was ever entertained.
