Sony's 2011 PS3 (Not on 360) Line-up

Aside from Last Guardian and Journey, that list doesn't interest me at all. Now if the presumed sequel to Demon's Souls comes out, then yes... 2011 redeemed.

Project Dark? It is, though it's on 360 as well.

Speculation about Agent's release date

My guess is Agent will be Rockstar's mid-2012 release. LA Noire and Max Payne 3 have 2011 covered for them, and if North is indeed working on it next then it would probably be Rockstar's next big game after those two.

Jesus. PS3's potential 2011 is DEVASTATING.

With so many big games being PS3 exclusive, and so many big multiplat games being on PC (ME, Crysis, Batman, etc etc), I really don't know if there is any reason for me to not sell my 360.

That what I did, along with the Wii. There are just too many titles on the PS3/PC. My entertainment center and game shelf space thank me.

Wow, if Last Guardian comes out there will be 3 games I am getting for sure. (TLG, Team ICO collection, Uncharted 3 probably).

That's a huge increase over the 0 games I got for PS3 this year, which was truly awful for the platform.
What the hell sort of games did you buy then if you couldnt find a single PS3 exclusive worth buying. Modnation Racers, Heavy Rain, MAG, GOW III, GT5?

You can't really think that list even begins to compare with what's coming in 2011, right? I only bought one of those myself.

And you didn't even include the PS3's best exclusive in 2010: The Sly Collection. :D

I'm getting this for Xmas.

Only twelve days to go. . . .

Only twelve days to go. . . .

Only twelve days to go. . . .

YOU WILL BE MINE SLY!

Games I will be getting:

LittleBigPlanet 2
Killzone 3
MLB 11 The Show
InFAMOUS 2
Twisted Metal
Resistance 3
Uncharted 3
The Last Guardian
Journey

Simply a majestic lineup. Probably the best lineup of games I'll ever witness in a 12 month span.

Lineup is incredible. Also some big multiplatform games have PS3-only features.

Dead Space 2 - Extraction included for free
Portal 2 - Steamworks
Mortal Kombat - Kratos

I'm sure Arkham City will have something big since DC <3's Sony.

Seriously, this thread exists every year.

It's like they intentionally delay games in Q4 so that the next year looks really awesome again.
Eh, usually the Q4 delays needed to happen. Like the recent LBP2 delay. The game just wasn't ready.

This time, however, we're looking at two Insomniac games and a Naughty Dog game as Sony's tentpole Q4 (and late Q3) line up, and not only do they never delay, they're also on their 6th and 3rd ps3 releases respectively. There's really no reason why they could possibly need a delay at this point. Some of the smaller titles may get pushed back (yes, I consider the Last Guardian to be a "small" title, even though it'll probably be in my top three games next year), but that's about it.

In terms of releases, I'd say these are certainties at this point: LBP2, KZ3, MS3, MLB10, R3, UC3, and R&CA4O. Socom 4 and Infamous 2 are also near certainties, though Socom has gone MIA and they haven't bothered to give Infamous a date, despite giving Uncharted/Resistance dates.

Twisted Metal and the Last Guardian are the two that could get delayed, but in the grand scheme of things they mean fairly little. I'd say 50:50 shot of a 2011 release, though. I think we'll see just one of the two next year, but who knows which one.

White Knight 2's release date is really up to whenever SCEA bothers to localize it. And then there's the Move titles. I dunno what's up with them.

So yeah, Sony usually suffers from Q4 delays, but all signs point to that not being a major factor this year.

Same here. This year I told my wife and mom get me nothing, but if you must have me unwrap something don't "wing it". So one gets Sly the other gets The Fight. Now I get two games I want and no pretending to want something lame and having to stand in return lines. :D

Jesus 2012 is a depressing year for my wallet. Add the multiplatform stuff to the sony exclusive stuff I am buying and I think I am buying more games next year than the last two years combined.

I think Sony will end up getting more exclusive content too. Possibly more Assassins creed stuff.

PS+ Betas will be PS3 exclusive. That alone will get developers looking at PS3 versions of games a lot more. Effectively Sony will be building an experienced Beta testing userbase, who pay to do that. Crazy but true.

I think Microsoft will get Elder Scrolls and Tomb Raider DLC content locked down, but Sony might get content for a lot of other games.

Will they? It didn't help the PS3 version at all.

Yeah. Sony and Ubisoft have teamed up over the past couple of years for advertising etc and betas and content for the series. I think there'll be a PSP2 Assassins Creed as well.

Microsoft will still have COD timed exclusive content, Ubisoft will go with Sony again.

And who knows what we'll be getting on the HD Classics front. I doubt the Ico/SotC Collection is all we'll be getting from Sony next year, let alone other publishers.

I think a Final Fantasy collection is in the works, as well as a Metal Gear collection and a Jak Collection.

Square always like cashing in on former glories. Kojima is already making a 3DS MGS3 game so getting a PS3 version out is probably on his list of things to do.

People want Jak. Well, I do.

I doubt FF or MGS. ZoE I think is possible.

I really do think we'll get a FF HD collection announced at the Jan Nova Crystallis event.

It really isn't like Square to miss a chance to remake something, and it would make a fuck ton of money. Its money on the table. They'd probably throw in a Versus trailer to help it sell even more.

Or they could sell them for full price on 3DS or PSP2.

They do love to milk their FF titles, but they can do so more effectively with the upcoming handhelds.

Who knows, we'll see. I think a KH Collection is much more likely.

Basically, if 2011 doesn't make you want a PS3...nothing will.

Meh TLG or no sale, I have my doubts about it coming out in 2011. Hopefully console will drop to 199 next year. I thought God of War 3 and Gran Turismo were bigger than most of the stuff I see on this list. Some of the 3D stuff is interesting as well but I can't afford one of those right now.

Sold my xbox+kinect after reading this thread. :lol Made a profit too so whatever... i'll rebuy if those japan developed kinect games aren't all on-rails.

ps3 for exclusives
pc for third party games (es5 <3)
wii for zelda and hopefully pikmin 3

Oh goodness thanks for making this thread. So much to play, pretty much getting everything from LBP2 to Sorcery to DC Universe (as long as it doesn't suck). PS3 forevar.

A collection by SE? :lol
Maybe they'll release them one by one. Just like how they remade all those FF's for each and ever handheld (console) out there, GBA, DS, iPhone, PSone etc. Maximum profit!

Sorcery is one to watch. Built from the ground up for Move and looks to have appeal to the core and casual crowd.

Dying to see more on it.

It looks great visually and makes great use of Move from targeting to drinking the controller to drink potions (awesome) but the gameplay demonstration does show potential to be boring or a bit bland. I hope it's a genuinely good game and not "good for Move." I believe.

Takao said:
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Claphanz is busy making a launch title for PSP2. There was talks about a Move patch for 5, so if that's true, it'll likely get a re-issue.

I would compromise for that. HSG5: Ultimate relaunch with all the DLC , move patch, trophies, improved install size, etc... then they can give us a HST2 :D or a PSP2 game :(

True. I wouldn't buy a HD FFX for £30. I'd imagine there are some bonkers people out there that would.

Really? No even Joe Danger? No even Dead Nation? Come on!
I am really tired of zombies in general :lol I like them sometimes (L4D) but I really cannot get excited about games like Dead Nation or Dead Rising or whatever. I don't buy zombie packs for games, and I never really bothered with Dead Rising either. Joe Danger looked okay but nothing special.

Really, look at that list. Is that really impressive to you? It was a weak year for Playstation, pretty much a wasteland after God of War came out, until GT5, if you ask me.

I figured I would hate Heavy Rain after the demo, but was still curious so I borrowed it from a friend. thank goodness, because I did truly hate it. I already have a kart racing game in Mario Kart that I love, so Modnation was out. MAG was a big amused yawn from me the instant I saw it, as I don't buy a ton of shooters (never bought any CoD beyond the first Modern Warfare) unless they're on PC, and even then I haven't bought many recently.

I don't like racing sims so GT5 was never on my radar.

God of War 3 was mildly tempting but I was playing a bunch of other games at the time. I always get close to buying a God of War game, but I have to remind myself that I don't like them and not to get sucked into the hype. They're fun to watch but not fun to play (in my opinion) -- and my distaste was reinforced when I played it at E3. So I went and watched the boss battles on youtube and got my fill.

As far as the games I did buy, this year I bought a lot of multiplatform games on 360 or PC where most of my friends are playing them. I bought a lot of platformers on Wii because I like platformers and it's pretty much the only place to get them nowadays. And then a bunch of PC games like Civilization 5 and Amnesia.

In general, though, Sony just doesn't have the games or properties that I tend to get excited about. The Uncharted games have been a nice surprise, though, as well as Demon's Souls. My girlfriend liked Infamous a lot and will probably get the sequel. But I pretty much bought it for The Last Guardian and for a blu-ray player.

That said, next year is looking extremely good. Along with the games I mentioned before, I will probably give Yakuza 4 a look, even though I've never tried the other games. 3-4 games for the platform is the most I've ever bought for it in a year, so that's really a positive sign.
