I too hated that concept because it takes a character you like and ads a trope of a duplicate or lookalike that isn’t actually your favorite character.I hate multiverse plots, so I'll wait to see this until its streaming. But I hope it does well so we get non-multiverse films like it
When I saw previews of this awhile back I thought it looked pretty mediocre. My buddy saw it the other day and said it was one of the best movies he’s seen in awhile, plus it’s getting really good reviews everywhere. I may go see it next weekend.
Animation was amazing, music was good. Lots of action and a really good story all around.
So here's my concern: it looks like a teen/kids movie that's trying to teach the viewer some bullshit about always being yourself or believing in friendship or whatever. That's fine and all, but I'm not the target audience there. And good Lord I don't want another origin story. Am I wrong? Is there some substance in the movie that I can appreciate as an adult?

I mean I can’t speak for all adults, I’m just a 33 year old dork, and I loved it. I don’t think it’s a kids movie, in the sense of “Frozen” or anything like that.
It’s a really good story. Give it a chance. As far as the origin story I mean yeah it sets up who Miles Morales is but that’s nowhere near the majority of the movie. It’s full steam ahead pretty quickly
Agreed, 33 year old nerd here too, and the origin story is only a few minutes of the storyline...its pretty much a side-plot.
The art style was perfect.
I just heard lord & miller on the Empire podcast that they pitched this idea to Sony without knowing if they could do it.
They ended up hiring the right people and were able to do this CG with animation hybrid that looks just like reading a comic book. Well done on them
Can you elaborate?Nope, trailers made it quite clear it wasnt a Spider-Man related movie I'd like. Probably still better than homecoming though.
Can you elaborate?
I'm not a fan of multiverse stuff when it comes to Spider-Man or all the Spider people Marvel keeps crapping out, I hate most alternate takes on Spidey characters so I was pretty much out once I saw ultimate Goblin, I can't stand the animation style regardless of the supposed intent behind it, Gwen's godawful haircut isn't something I feel like looking at 2 hours, and Zoe Kravitz as MJ doesn't work for me.
I'm honestly only a fan of the classic Spidey I grew up with so I just don't have the tolerance for all the nonsense everyone keeps pulling with him nowadays.
That said, I was actually leaning towards seeing the movie initially since Miles actually looked interesting for once and the awful animation wasn't as apparent in the first teaser but once they started incorporating everything else it was a pass for me. I'm sure it's a well made film it just isn't for me is all.
You know that adult Peter Parker is in this, right? Isn’t that classic Spidey?
I’m going to do something I haven’t done in years. Three movies in one day. Going to see Spider Verse, Aquaman and Bumblebee.
It sounds like all three are doing quite well review wise and word of mouth.
It was a great movie and had like 6 origin stories. It was way to dark for a kids movie btw. Probably the best Sony spider man movie. So here's my concern: it looks like a teen/kids movie that's trying to teach the viewer some bullshit about always being yourself or believing in friendship or whatever. Yeah scorpion design was the only downside to me.Saw this on friday and it was amazing. A thing of beauty.
Didnt love scorpions design, but the film was fanatastic.
