Looks nice, not going to lie.

Looks good. It'd be nice if they used that thick plastic like paper for the covers that Next Generation used to use.

Are they assuming Layton vs. AA is coming over or are they actually going to reveal an international release? That's a pretty big reveal if they have one.

Where is the physical version being sold at? Will Amazon have it?
...in the part you quoted I said that I hope that amazon will have it since I have no CC...which means that it hasn't been revealled since if it was, I wouldn't be hoping and would know whether it was on amazon or not. (Don't mean to be snarky, but found the quote and what you said kinda funny.)

On the twitter/fb they said it'll be revealled in the next few days. Their fb also says that issue #1 is coming this month so it has to be soon...

Even if you don't have a credit card ou can probably get a $15-$25 itunes/eshop/amazon card and get someone on here to send the first few issues to you. Thats what I'll be doing if I can't get it via amazon.

They said on FB/Twitter that they will have a physical and digital version too.

The first issue is out tomorrow (January 11th). Not sure where you'll be able to buy the physical copy.

And yeah, Layton vs. Ace Attorney was confirmed for the west a while back. Shortly after the AA5 announcement I believe.

Not a fan of the cover art either :S It Doesnt look like a cover to me.

I think if you are going to do a magazine nowadays, you have to thrive off of exclusive interviews, behind the scenes looks, and actual independent research reporting.

Just previewing and reviewing games just doesn't cut it.

Same. But for what it is, it looks decent. Still doesn't feel right. I don't really like most of these guys....and what could they possibly have in this magazine that cant be found on their respective websites

Is this going to be a US mag? I'm still waiting on Nintendo to refund me from Nintendo Power going under. Wish I could just switch to this one.

You can't subscribe to it? Eh. No, thank you.

Pretty sure that's all coming tomorrow. They said there'd be both digital & physical copies available.

1st issue is some sort of different process since they're donating the money from it to charity.

You can get this on iOS News Stand right?
Its available as a physical or digital version. So a iTunes version is likely, but they haven't said how you can get either yet. That will be revealled tomorrow, which is also the release date.

I must say...they should've revealled this atleast a couple weeks before the release date so I could get my money ready. I won't have any money until around the 26th so I will be pissed if I miss this.

....anyone wanna buy me the first issue and I'll pay them back with a $15 iTunes Card or $20 eShop card later this month? (If the issue is only like $10 after shipping then I demand two issues if I get a eshop card :p)

Maybe I can get some money somewhere. Don't wanna miss this.

Yeah it's a bit confusing really. Well I hope it goes on News Stand, I'll buy a copy of the digital version if it does. Because I doubt they are launching the physical thing in the UK.

I'm somewhat interested in the digital version of this magazine but with all videogame news readily available and free online it really depends on the quality of the writing/work. If its just a bunch of fanservice I'll pass.

That's the plan according to their tweets yesterday:

Nintendo Force ‏@NintendoForce
Nintendo Force #1 is complete! It will go on sale tomorrow, January 11 – exactly three weeks after our initial announcement ...

Nintendo Force ‏@NintendoForce
... and exactly one month after the final NP hit newsstands. We'll have the link for you to buy it right here tomorrow morning.

I for one am exceedingly happy it's starting the month after Nintendo Power ended, so there is a straight continuity in my shelf. From Dec 2012 to this first issue for Jan 2013. I can't wait to subscribe today! Absolutely the physical magazine - Nintendo Power was the only thing that ever made me excited to get the mail every day and I look forward to this helping to fill the void.

Lucas M. Thomas via Facebook said:
It’s Nintendo Force Launch Day! Thank you all so much for your excitement and enthusiasm leading up to today. This represents the culmination of several months of work for all of us who came together to create this debut issue of the all-new Nintendo Force Magazine, and it’s been especially gratifying to see all the positive comments and pledges of support from all of you in the past three weeks since we went public with our existence.

Today, in addition to Nintendo Force Magazine’s first issue going on sale, I promised answers to your remaining questions. I apologize if we’ve been stingy with details or seemed unresponsive to your inquiries – the majority of our energy these past few weeks has been put into making the debut issue a reality. Now that that’s done, we’re able to come back out of the shadows a bit and start offering responses.

First up is where to buy Nintendo Force Magazine #1. After examining a few different options, we’ve decided to make our debut issue available through HP MagCloud. It has some positives and some negatives. Let’s talk about both.

On the positive side, going through MagCloud gives us great distribution range. You can buy a digital copy of the magazine. You can buy a physical copy of the magazine – and get a free digital version thrown in too. You can read the digital version of Nintendo Force on your iPad by way of MagCloud’s free reader app – a feature many of you have requested. And, also critically important to many of you, you can get Nintendo Force delivered to you anywhere you live around the world. MagCloud offers shipping to pretty much everywhere on the planet.

Now, a couple of negatives. MagCloud doesn’t offer subscriptions. I know there are tons and tons of you out there who want to subscribe as soon as possible, and that kind of support is incredible – I had no idea so many people would want to jump into full subscriptions so quickly, before even seeing the first issue. So we are working on finding the best subscription situation we can as soon as we can, to be able to serve those of you who are ready to join the Force for a year or more.

We will nail down the subscription plan before the arrival of Issue #2, guaranteed, so if you want to be in on the ground floor then please send an email to subscriptions@nintendoforcemagazine.com with the subject line “I want to subscribe!”. We’ll put your email address on our mailing list and send out a notice to everyone soon with the full details of how subscriptions are going to work. Thanks again for your patience in this – we’re just at the beginning of a long journey into this new era together.

In the meantime, please visit MagCloud to make an individual purchase of Nintendo Force Magazine #1. A digital copy is priced at $4.99, while the combo pack of getting both a digital copy and a printed copy sent to your home is $17.99. If that’s a bit of sticker shock, again, I apologize. Print-on-demand isn’t absolutely ideal and it’s why we’re working to find more affordable solutions going forward.

But there are a couple of things that should soften the blow here – first, Nintendo Force Magazine contains no ads. We’re cover-to-cover content, so none of your money is buying a two-page spread for a steakhouse. Where your money is going is the second thing to remember:

Proceeds for your purchase are going to charity. We’re honoring NP’s legacy here and doing this as a labor of love, so when you buy Nintendo Force, you’re supporting kids that could use a helping hand.

And there you have it, friends. If you have any further questions, please direct them to forcefeedback@nintendoforcemagazine.com and we’ll do our best to answer them for you.

In closing, here’s our description for Issue #1. Which is on sale now!

“It's cover-to-cover content in the debut issue of Nintendo Force, with no ads taking space away from the previews, reviews and features packed inside. The massive 26-page Year in Preview gives you a look ahead at all the biggest games of 2013, with special emphasis on four – Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends. We've got North America's first review of Fire Emblem: Awakening and an exclusive reveal of just what's so "Deluxe" about Wii U's Mutant Mudds Deluxe – this is the only place to see first screenshots of Max's all-new enemies and the levels they inhabit. Proper homage is paid to the past, too, with envelope art, clay models, a six-page Retro section and three different comics – including one by Brawl in the Family's Matthew Taranto and Chapter 1 of our serialized story, "Super Mario Bros.: Neo Bowser City." All of that and much, much more await you here in our very first issue – and proceeds from sales go to charity. So come on and join the Force!”

Thanks again for your support! The new era has begun!

Yeah, $18 for digital + print. No ads and Fire Emblem cover, though, so there's that. :)

Why so expensive?

Print on demand. Economies of scale make it cheaper to produce a ton, but when you may only sell 1-2K, you don't get any bulk discounts. Plus, no ad revenue to offset printing cost.

I'm gonna buy the digital version of the first issue and see if its good. I don't think I will be a regular customer at $4.99 an issue but if its good I will dip on the occasional one depending on the content.

Probably wouldn't have done physical if the proceeds weren't going to charity, but decided to take the plunge... maybe things will change pricing-wise once they figure out some sort of good subscription model...?

I'd like to hear from people buying the digital version, but I have to say if you're considering spending that much money on a print version of Issue 1, don't. Spend it instead on Ray Barnholt's wonderful Scroll, which is also sold through MagCloud: http://www.magcloud.com/browse/search?q=scroll&m=i

I'm still as far from sold as someone could possibly be on Nintendo Force; they're simply using NP's legacy and if that doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth it should. There's no reason they couldn't have contributions from former NP staffers. None. It feels like a cash-in until they prove otherwise. And that charity bit? Yeah, notice how it doesn't say how much of the proceeds are going to whatever nebulous organization they've chosen? Wonder why. Prove me wrong, Nintendo Force! I like a lot of the names attached; build your own legacy.

I want the physical + digital version so...is there anyone at all willing to order it if I pm you a code for $25 gift card on amazon? You can keep the change.

Problem is, I probably won't have the card until the very end of the month. Normally, I wouldn't ask this until I had the money and it is unfair that I am but they might not sell each issue for long and I don't wanna miss out. So anyone?
