Star Wars Battlefront II |BETA| Execute Pre-Order 66

Having recoil and spread is fine the problem is that you are supposed to be firing laser blasters but in this game it feels like you are just firing regular bullets.

In the first Battlefront you could see your blaster bolts coming out of the weapon and this visual feedback led to satisfying shootouts.

The gunplay is definitely less satisfying in this game so I'm hoping they tweak it so that the visual feedback is better. The lack of clearly visible blaster bolts is killing it for me.

See the thing is, blasters aren't firing lasers. They're firing superheated bolts of plasma. That's why they have cartridges, it's why you can see them, and why they aren't travelling at you know the speed of light. It's also why the weapons have kick.

But I agree that I want to see the blaster bolts much more clearly. Huge to the immersion of the gameplay.

Heavy class is a fucking joke and frustrating. I was just in a match of Strike where I flanked someone, I was 2 feet away from them and they were completely unaware. As assault I pulled out my shotgun, aimed for the head expecting a kill, nope...Heavy starts to turn around, I get another shot off in the chest this time before they even started to shoot at me, and then suddenly before I get my third shot off they killed me.

What the fuck kind of garbage is this?

It made me rage quit, something I rarely do.
Shotgun to the head and chest but they didn't die? Have any receipts?

Shotgun to the head and chest but they didn't die? Have any receipts?

I wanted to, but I accidentally double clicked the share button on PS4 instead of long press so no...

I wouldn't make it up and I'm not the only one complaining about shooting heavies in the back only for them to turn around and insta-kill you.

I promise you it's how it went down. May have been a lag issue, but it sure didn't seem like it from my end.

Truthfully I wanted Battlefront 1 mixed with Battlefront 2 classic, classes with minor progression and a lot more maps and modes than 2015.

2015 lacked a lot of depth but I didn't want it to feel like Battlefield, tbh. I was thinking more of a mix between classic 2 and 2015.

Played some more 2 today then jumped in on classic 2 and man what a difference. Was a little rusty but from this beta it doesn't hold a candle to BF2 Classic. Jesus :|

What else sucks is that naming conventions are all but certain to wipe out easily found OG Battlefront info on the web aside from communities that talk about it like the recent resurrection of classic servers. For shame.

I think when people keep bringing up Battlefield, at least from what I've read. They're referring to the interactivity with vehicles, being out and around, utilized on a larger scale map. Instead of point purchasing and filtering in. Then of course the weapon customization and character customization, which isn't really so unique to Battlefield. It's more the standard for non class based shooters now.

So....I played the game just out of curiosity. It was sort of fun. Mostly played assault class. I had no idea what I was doing in the game. I was also playing with KB+M which I'm terrible with lol

I can tell you that as someone who's disappointed with the ground gameplay, I actually started to really enjoy space combat after I played a couple rounds and got better with the controls. Eventually it just kind of clicks and you're able to pull off some crazy manuvers. It's definitely a good time. The bomber class is certainly my favorite because you can really help out with objectives.

Okay, well I'll give it a fair shot then.

I'm not sure I really want to support a full-priced game with loot boxes on principle though.

I echo people saying how the gameplay is worse in this one.

That being said, I like the squad system. I also like the roll. And the infiltrator "ult" ability is amazing.

So this was the art for star cards in the alpha. Why did they deviate from this? It looks so much better.

Man... I wonder if the tepid response to this will drive( at least on the PC side) people back to the OG BFII seeing as the online play is back up and running on steam.

Maybe it's better on consoles or something, but the starfighter assault on PC was terrible. Controls were loose and difficult to handle. That was really disappointing for me... I used to be really into the old X-Wing/Tie Fighter games and part of me was hoping for some good space battling here, but...

You have to use a controller. Make sure it is set to Southpaw and inverted a second well.

Just downloaded and "played" the beta for the first time. I hated flight in the first game (and all games that don't have flight controls like Warhawk PS3) so I went to the flying mode first and felt hopeless with hardly any control on the left stick. Not sure if that can be changed but fuck that sucked.

And then I couldn't even get into the 40 player match after trying for 15 minutes.

Deleted.

I guess this could have helped me but too late now.

I really enjoyed the space gameplay.
Just give us a bit of depth like shield control and micro-targetting and we are set.
Full SP campaign! Do it, Dice! :(

Every time I spawn with a full squad, all 5 members go in completely different directions. I get what they are going for, it's just not working at all.

Don't buy the game if you're expecting a teamwork game, this is just some good ol mindless fun with huge battles.

Yea that's unfortunately gonna be the default experience I fear. If this was a more tactical game like Rainbow Six that would certainly be an issue, but this game is pretty casual, so there's not really much that can be done about it.

I can't for the life of me get my controls in the space battles to match up with those of the 2015 game. I was an aerial ace, now I just crash into shit every five seconds.

And you’ve played Battlefield 1? This feels nothing like battlefield 1. In terms of gameplay in Battlefield you can get out of the vehicle without it exploding right away. The maps are way more open and the fact that there’s more than one objective per map makes it so that people explore a lot more. Having different classes too that provide help for other players also makes it so that players play more together as a team. Like dropping ammo or health, etc.

In this game if you get out of a tank your tank explodes, hum......ok. Spawn in a starship and you can’t even get out of it.... guns feel terrible, Assault feels terrible, The naboo map and that whole game mode is terribly designed. You can spawn in as a tank if you have enough points but you can only go in the middle of the map where there’s literally no one fighting.......hum ok.

The only reason people are excited is because it’s Star Wars, otherwise the gameplay is subpar and it feels like a noobified battlefield. Is it better than the first one yes, but the first one was shit so what does that say. Terribly disappointed with this game and in dice.

The Whole reason that we were excited that dice were making battlefront was because of how good they are at making battlefield. And what do they do, they go out of their way to make it play nothing like Battlefield..... These guys are so stupid...
I'm mostly referring to the gunplay. Guns tend to have hard limits in effective range, which is a Battlefield 1 convention as well. The TTK seems way lower than Battlefront, and you actually need to use ADS and bursts to be the most effective. You're not dropping anyone at range if you just spray and pray unless they're either terrible or using a shotgun.

There is a lot more CQC this time around too. Despite the large levels, BF1 is a highly CQC focused game, and most of the action takes place around choke points. The chaotic pace seems similar as well. The action is relentless.

The vehicle system is of course entirely different, thank goodness. The closest thing to that is Homefront.

Default.

Never had such issues with bf and such but it is so hard to aim in this game.

Default deadzones for these games are garbage. BF1 was at like 21 percent lol. I have like 8% on left stick for movement and maybe 12 for the gun on BF1. This game has hardly any options to correct anything, but thank god it has deadzones. I'm at like 10% or something.

My sensitivity is even slightly lower for player at like 6% or something. In BF1 it is 9%. I use about 40% or so on the ADS, and it is higher in BF1. This game has some really weird controls at first, but much better than the first game, which was absolutely terrible with no options for anything lol.

I mean the lootboxes swayed me into not buying, but after playing the beta for a couple days it's made my decision easier.

Controls and movement feel clunky and awkward. Skills across the classes felt quite boring aswell, not really digging any particular class.

I think I prefer more of a pvp/deathmatch style in my multiplayer which is why I'm not loving this game...the objective based gameplay is not something I normally like and this is definitely all about obectives/team-based modes...the more I play Starfighter Assault the more I like it but the controls still feel too stiff (kb/m)...and yes the graphics do look noticeably worse which definitely doesn't help

Yeah I enjoyed the first Battlefront quite a bit but am not feeling this one at all. My friend just says its because of the map but it feels so clunky to me

I admit, my first two games left a very bad taste in my mouth. I put a ton of time into the last one (and first two). With this, I didn't like the sense of loose movement and the diminished gunplay.

I gave it a night and tried it again this evening and it clicked way more than I was anticipating. Playing objectives and sticking near my squad felt a lot better. Heroes are still really difficult to put down but I was getting more points and feeling the vibe of the fight a bit more.

The TTK is a bit wild but I really do enjoy Officer to help out the group.

I think I played the beta for the first Battlefront and never bought the game, but I barely remember anything about it. So I mostly come into Battlefront II with no opinion or preferences from the first one. Been sorta enjoying what I've played of it so far. Although the characters move a little too sluggishly for my tastes.

I tried to play Starfighter using GAF's advice & immediately switched the controls to Legacy Southpaw and was just constantly crashing into everything.. To my surprise, I chose the default flight controls and now I'm flying like an ace pilot, having a lot of fun with the mode. Haven't checked out Arcade or Strike, but been having fun with Galactic Assault for the past two days. Heavy & Specialist are the best classes to me, especially Specialist. The burst fire mod you can unlock on their secondary gun is OP.

Not sure if I'd pay $60 for this Day One, and of course huge dislike of loot boxes, but the game is fun.

Playing on PS4.

I liked Starfighter Assault.

Not sure how I feel about the foot combat.

Also not sure why they chose this time period for the beta, ugh. Sick of Naboo.

Anyway, i had to turn my soldier sensitivity up to 30, felt a lot better.

Is it just me or does the game visually look worse than Battlefront 1 did on PS4?

Played the beta for 6-8 hours already and yes, this is definitely a day 1-purchase for me, the more I play the more I like it. I admit Naboo is a bad map in general (those bottlenecks at the palace's entrance...) but I've had some really intense games, cannot wait to play on better maps. Also, I'm so in love with Starfighter Assault, game is worthy just for it. Now I only wish people would start playing objective more usually, those shield generator are not going to be destroyed by themselves lol

I've been out of the loop in terms of information about the game, how many maps and heroes will be in total?
