I got so much hate saying this game combat is repetitive that it is kinda nice to see reviewers agree with me. I absolutely love Star Wars and it sucks that I won't be getting this game. Maybe I can borrow it for a bit.
If it's free DLC maps for everyone, maybe. If it's pay maps, then it just fragments the playerbase and makes it worse.
Ouch. There's got to be a place for this type of game. It's too bad EA couldn't price it correctly. It's still going to sell gangbusters because of the license though.
I never bought premium in bf4 and it's packed. I never felt missing anything. I always find full games on golmud or resort for example
The OT is in chaos right now. Tech problems all over the place.

I agree with your assessment but not the score. I'd rate it a 5/10.4 maps for the main modes
Ridiculously low skill ceiling
2/5 for my review
A lot of reviews are knocking it for lacking a hook with its progression system. IE unlocks.
Whenever someone says it's shallow they fail to explain why or what exactly they mean.

They give out review codes over the weekend most likely.Ouch. But reviewers, how about waiting a few days until the game is out to give it a score ?
Playing it at the review event for a couple hours is all they need... lol oh my.Ouch. But reviewers, how about waiting a few days until the game is out to give it a score ?
At this point all the game has to do is run. It's going to sell tens of millions.
Sorry if this is off-topic, but why are 6/10 or 3/5 ratings in the orange? Seems really harsh, should be yellow IMO, with 5 being orange and anything under being red. We'll be tracking on OpenCritic: http://opencritic.com/#!game/1511/star-wars-battlefront
First batch (17 reviews in)
Game Informer announced they're holding off until servers come up. Not many other publications weighing in though, which is pretty interesting... I guess not many attended the review event?

Video game reviews are more like school grades. 5 isn't average.
I understand how absurd the rating scale of video game reviewing is, but even Metacritic has 6 ratings in the yellow. And 75+ is in the green. It has to "accurately" represent the general consensus of what most gamers associate those scores with, so naturally 6s and 7s are danger zone numbers.
Titanfall was a good game and I played it on and off for a few months. Worth $60? Not sure, but definitely didn't turn me off after a few hours like BattlefrontI'm getting a Titanfall vibe.
Gonna pass on this one.
Honestly, it's kind of fresh to get a shooter like this that's kind of bare-bones with minimal options. The playing field is completely even and it's more like a classic shooter from the PS2 era or before, where all the extra stuff is available to everyone on the field and not just to the guy who's played a million hours more than everyone else. Sure, maybe the maps and game types getting old after a while might be true, I don't know I haven't played the game, but I'm just excited to play a really well designed, casual Star Wars multiplayer shooter.
It's the perfect thing to keep us kinda busy for the month before the new movie, cause once the hype kicks in again a week or two before, everyone's gonna jump back on to play.

Finally someone says it. Thank you.Players and games media really have to lay into DICE and EA if the game is really content-starved. Don't buy the season pass and voice your disappointment. It's the only way things will change.
It's arbitrary colors arbitrarily assigned to arbitrarily weighted arbitrary scores.
Don't take this as a thread whine, what I'm saying is that there's ultimately no rhyme or reason to scores. They correlate with how postive/negative reviews are, but there's absolutely nothing to be gained from splitting hairs over what precisely the numbers should/do mean.

I see your point, but... I'm not sure it "doesn't matter". Ultimately I guess that no, it doesn't matter, as many of us don't care about aggregate scores to make our purchasing decisions. However, there is no denying that Metacritic etc. do have an impact on the industry in general. I'm willing to bet that this colour coding has a subtle influence at large, though I can't prove it.
