If you manage to kill one of those gold guards in Vivec early in the game it is basicly a free ride from there. Sell his armour and weapon to the little demon guy in Caldera, level up, kill another guard, sell, level up, etc.

I always pull a heist at Ghostgate early in the game. I break into a room with a ton of glass and ebony items and cast recall to return to Caldera so I can sell the goods to creeper. It nets me a shitload of cast for training.

I'm so ready for a replay.

When I try to open steam, all I get is this message:

Anyone else having this problem? It ran fine a couple of hours ago, but I had to restart my computer (bluescreen).

What's with no Skyrim price on the UK store?
Yeah I noticed it as well. Theres an advert on the rotating banner about the pre-order offer(Free TF2 hat). However when you click, there's no option to pre-order.

i'm sure this is gonna be/has been asked a million times...but does steam charge you up front when you pre-order?

I believe they do. I usually wait until the day before to pre-order. It's not like they'll run out of copies lol.

yes.

Disappointed with that Skyrim price - not even a pre-order discount. Doesn't really matter though since the game is going to be Steamworks (and fairly large in size) so a retail copy will do me just fine. Probably be able to find a good deal on a retail copy as well.

I don't understand the Rage pricing. In the US it's $60 like a console game, in the UK it's £30, which is PC game price.

EDIT: In fact £35 is more like normal PC price often.

Wait, since when is Skyrim $60 on PC? God I hate this generation.

Don't worry, this generation has brought us other things. Like Steam sales if you get what I mean.

Good point. Skyrim was practically an instabuy at $50 (or $45 with the usual 10% discount), I think I'll wait for a sale now. Especially with the DLC parade being included in the GOTY package.

Thanks, Bethesda!

I'll wait until Skyrim GOTY is out before I bother to pick it up, and even then I'll grab it for $30 at most. After playing Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas, I realized that these games are too aimless and filled with excessive quantities of boring quests for me to enjoy.

Skyrim is worth $60 to me if Oblivion and FO3 are anything to go by.
Honestly, I'd feel better about paying $60 if the console version was $70. Fuck price parity when there's no console licensing fee. Cash grab total.

Skyrim is worth $20 to me if Oblivion and FO3 are anything to go by.

Now if Skyrim was like New Vegas and Morrowind, that's another story.

Our tastes diverge then.
FNV was good, but I liked FO3 much much more overall.
Morrowind was great, yeah. I'm not sure how I would rank Oblivion vs Morrowind.

I usually don't agree with you but this is truth.

It's 50€ here, which is an average price too. It seems only the US PC version commands a premium?

The most crashes I got in FNV was from the UWRL mod. I think in 80+ hours the amount of crashes I got was able to be counted on two hands, running with mods.

Running FO3 for ten minutes without mods got me crashes every 5 minutes.

Its funny, cause i had not a single bug or crash on New vegas, EXCEPT for the first time i launched it back when it came out, when literally the first thing that appeared on the screen was a bug (the head spining thing). Amazing.

Question about the Brink free weekend: Ok so I tried to join a multiplayer server on Brink, but it says I don't have the required DLC. So I go to the new DLC and click install, but nothing happens. Can I not install the DLC on the free weekend? Does that mean I can't play multiplayer for the free weekend?

Did literally nothing happen, or were you taken to a screen saying that you already had Brink and to open your library, or something to that effect?

I just tried playing it as well; It's quite the mess and I'm glitching all over the place and sliding when I'm not even crouching...

C is slide if you're moving. It has nothing to do with if you're crouching or not.

I was going to buy it when the sale came up, maybe I'll save the cash. I heard someone say something similar about Oblivion a couple of days ago on here too.

I had about 10 crashes over the course of an 80+ hour playthrough

When I tried to get the DLC it told me to install the game(even though I have) so I'm assuming the DLC is locked out to those who haven't actually paid for the game.

I have just the opposite experience.
Didn't have any trouble with FO3 that I can remember really. This is with like 150hrs invested in it across two platforms.

FNV crashed like mad, had game breaking scripting issues, and a couple of times I lost all collision with the terrain.

I don't doubt that FO3 is very buggy. I just got lucky, I guess. FNV is definitely super buggy. Which is worse? How could anyone really say.

edit: but I still like both of them lots, which is a strong testament to the games.

Would've been nice if Morrowind was cheaper, I've never played it beyond 15 minutes of the Xbox version and really want to, but can't bring myself to drop $15 on such an old game.

I've played on my laptop as well, and in the course of 20~ hours I didn't get a single crash though FO3 didn't crash on the laptop either, I played that less.

I wish I would have paid attention to exactly what it said, but whatever the screen was that I was taken to wasn't explicitly clear that I had 'purchased' the DLC, and that I should install Brink. A couple minutes later (it wasn't immediate) Brink started downloading a ~480MB update that contained the DLC.

It is pretty much common knowledge that FO3 and FNV are buggy buggy buggy.
They also happen to be very immersive and fun open world RPGs, a genre I can't get enough of.
Honestly if you like the theme and open world RPGs I can't imagine not playing them.

So it looks like I'm going to have to play Runespell: Overture all over from the start to get the last achievement (that I PROBABLY earned the first time around).

Not that I mind TOO much, except for the last three battles, ugh.
