EA chat is telling me I need to get a new code from Direct2Drive to add Bulletstorm to Origin...

They are saying my Key is "invalid".

That actually makes Bulletstorm more tempting since I have to maintain an Origin account anyways...hmm

Bulletstorm was great fun. very much worthy of that small price.

multiplayer was okay for a little while ...got a little tired of it after a bit tho since its only co op.

This is basically my cheap philosophy, with the exception of a few titles I'm very interested in. For instance, I preordered the deluxe version of Deus Ex: HR, even though it turned out later I got kind of screwed since the instore versions have the extra mission. I'm hoping that's not too big of a deal to miss out on.

Unless it is something I am super interested in, I have a great deal of time to wait for sales. It's not like I ever play games, anyway. :P

I highly approve of new games having a small sale if you preorder, though. I'm also more tempted to buy a major PC game on release if it's $30-40 instead of $50-60, even though either way I could still wait for sales.
I picked up Dues Ex:HR over on GGM for 28.80. Since it was nearly half off, and most impressions have got me excited. I decided to splurge on it. Why the hell not I told myself.

Its just how this gen has been. Most titles price drop or go on sale quickly. I have a big backlog and no real reason to add anything I'm not going to play right away too it. Guild Wars 2 and DOTA 2.0 seem to be about it for what really excites me. Everything else can wait, till it hits the mark I feel comfortable on adding it to my backlog. Give it a year, RAGE will probably be around 10-15$. I will have been able to pick up Bastion for 5$. Etc. And I'm going be honest, I don't mind the backlog too much, even if it is expand, as long as I'm adding 5$-10$ titles to it. No pressure to complete it nor do I feel ripped when it goes down another buck or two. Also lets you pass the hype period, where it turns out it wasn't as good of a game as you initially expected it to be.

GAH! I really want to play Morrowind, as I've never gotten beyond playing an hour on the Xbox and then ending up in an area way above my level and quitting, but I wish it was available for a steeper discount by itself. Is the game still playable by today's standards?

Sooooo, is Morrowind still worth playing? I know that sounds kind of insolent, but we're talking about putting 60+ hours into a game that's almost 10 years old. Is there some kind of "complete" Mod? Does it support widescreen? I'm really tempted, but I'm not going to buy it if I'll have to put hours of modding into it before I actually get to play the game.

Interesting tidbit from today's sale:

Additionally, Steam Cloud integration has been added to many of your favorite id/Bethesda titles, allowing your game saves to travel with you wherever you play. Just launch your Steam copy of games like Doom, Quake, Elder Scrolls, and Brink, and your game saves will be copied to the cloud.

what's the price of todays deal ( Notch's Elder Scrolls pack) on steam in the US?
What's the price for Oblivion?
I already own Morrowind.

Call of Cthulhu is 25% off. Buy this people! The game is crazy awesome (and I played it last year, so no nostalgia there).

a week or two ago when i talked with EA chat about adding Bulletstorm (which i also bought from Direct2Drive long ago), all the guy wanted was a screenshot of the Direct2Drive page open showing the CDkey next to our chat window ...which was easy enough to do.

got him to add my old store copies of Battlefield 2 Complete, BF 2142, and MOH Airborne (bought from Steam) as well.

weird that he said your key was invalid.

If you buy both, you can get a mod that will run Morrowind in the Oblivion engine. If you want to stick with just Morrowind, there are plenty of graphics mods, including adding widescreen support.

Isn't Quake 1 supposed to have a soundtrack? No music is playing for me, regular sound effects are fine.
You'll either have to install a source port and place the audio files in a folder (dependent on the port) or burn a CD (with a blank/filler track 01) with the audio files and place in your drive.

I'm with you. I'm much more likely to give it a shot if there's just one of 2 "complete" type mod packs or whatever that I can run and make the game run like it should. Don't have the patience to install 30 different mods to make it playable.

I have the XB version but never played it through. Sounds good for 7.50.

So I decided to donate again in hopes of getting Zombie Atom Smasher... but I can't seem to activate the code again. How do I make it so that I will get the zombie atom smasher game code?

You already have the game in your steam library, if it doesn't show up try restarting steam.

In the description for Morrowind it says "The original Mod Construction Set is not included in this package".

I'm fairly new to pc gaming, is the lack of this Mod Construction Set a bad thing?

Sell me on this Call of Cthulu. What's it most comparable to, how is the combat, just how scary does it get, etc. I'm intrigued.

No, unless you want to make a mod for it.

I don't want Oblivion for $12.50 simply because it was $5 a few weeks ago

Bummed about this deal, was expecting a similar price

It's a bit like Amnesia/Penumbra, but you are interacting with other characters. That, paired with an ungodly atmosphere worthy of Lovecraft makes it an awesome game. It's bloody terrifying at times.

I think I'm gonna get it myself.

I really need to try it again with my 5850. There was some crazy diamond-shaped-raindrop graphics glitch with my 4850, and I think someone else in the Steam forum had the same problem, but I never ever got it working.

Call of Cthulhu stealth bits are truly irritating. They have a chase scene early in the game that put my hair on edge though. I've been waiting for a decent sale on it.

There's a reason for that. Bulletstorm is a Games for Windows Live title, and as such the cd key that is given with the game is a 25 character, GFWL compatible cd key. As in, it registers with the GFWL service. Now EA games which can be registered on Origin have cd keys which are 20 characters long. This is why you cannot manually add the game to Origin, because your key is incompatible with Origin and also why they told you that it was invalid even when it isn't.

EA support can add the game to your Origin account, but you have to convince them that you actually purchased the game. When I did it, I had to upload a couple of photos of my retail box and manual/cd key before they accepted that I had in fact purchased the game and then they added it to my Origin account for me. Fair warning, adding games to your account can only be done by their Tier 2 support staff which entails an extra 20-30 minutes of waiting in queue before you get a chance to chat with them.

BULLETSTORM CANNOT BE ACTIVATED ON ORIGIN RIGHT NOW!! ::

Oh okay, I'm really sorry but we are currently having issues with
Valeria:
those codes as our system is updating. Normally i could generate you a new code but they are
Valeria:
temporarily coming up invalid. We are working on this asap.
Valeria:
I would try contacting back at the beginning of the week when
Valeria:
hopefully this will be resolved. I'm sorry for the inconvenience

Mods can help.

I was waiting for a Morrowind GOTY deal alone. I already played Oblivion and even though I don't own it on PC, $15 bucks for the double pack puts it squarely outside impulse buy territory for me.

Oh well, I might be not good at many things but I'm definitely good at waiting.

Pretty sure you can download the toolset directly from the official Elder Scrolls website.

I have 15k in mine.
But you got them abusing promotions, which I sadly never managed to do. Mine are actual money I put there...

I might just buy Red Dead Redemption with them points, now that you can (could?) buy Games on Demand with points. It's not like it's ever coming out on PC anyway... sigh...

With LA Noire coming I can see Red Dead getting a PC release.

Now if only Double Fine would stop messing around and release their stuff on PC. :-(
