anyone knows if the Deus Ex GOTY from GMG (with the preorder of Deus Ex HR AE) can be activated on Steam?
No, it won't. It uses GMG's on client, Capsule. You don't need to have Capsule running to play the game though.

Deus Ex keys update: We've got the keys sent to us now, we'll be injecting the keys today for pre-loading on Steam. /Rob

Horse armor? Fuck no!

Hats? Fuck yes!

I love the internets.
Huh, one thing is expensive crap that you do not use at all.
And the other thing is free stuff you get with a new game.
Not really comparable.

If we don't use the codes and DXHR ends up being shit we can still get a refund from GMG though right? I guess I'm not going to preload after all.

I usually don't play at midnight anyway (and I certainly wouldn't start a new game at that time) so it's fine by me. Hopefully my GMG code can activate at 12pm on the 23rd so I can download it overnight.

Hey all,

Apologies for all the confusion today. We don't gurantee either preloads or TF2/Valve based items and we make sure never to advertise either. The reality is that for titles like Deus Ex, Steam dictate a lot of what everyone else can do. This means we're not always 100% sure what we're going to get until we get it, even though we always try to get the most up-to-date information. Sometimes, like in the case of Red Orchestra 2, TF2 hats came with the product and we only found this out when users reported it, so it's always best to assume that our products DON'T come with special items and then by happy when they do!

In the case of Deus Ex, we got the keys and not the pre-order, and we wanted to make sure you guys got your keys on time and didn't have to wait for a second on release date, so sent them out. There was a mix up here about the pre-loading, and we should have tested them first to make our message more clear and not get anyone's hopes up - I apologise for that personally.

What we can offer instead of virtual hats is great prices and a fast customer support service that makes sure that as soon as we know something about a game, you guys do as well.

Sorry I couldn't get on the forums sooner - when we have a lot of information to communicate to users I have to jump over to Facebook and Twitter as these reach the largest amount of customers and are very easy for me to post quick updates on that you guys can then pick up. If you're not a member of either, you should come join us on Facebook, wer'e building up quite a little community and we do often answer basic questions on Facebook a little quicker than the forums due the nature of it popping up in my inbox!

Those people asking about refunds - we can't help you directly on the forums, if you have any problems of questions please make a ticket, and we'll respond with 48 hours (usually sooner!)

Thanks,

Rob

No preloading, no confirmed hats/items.

Don't worry if your key hasn't arrived yet - the system is still going through them. It's a little slow sometimes - which is why we always try to make sure keys get out well in advance of release dates and times.

Regarding Steam and pre-loading, it happens because publishers like Square choose to use Steamworks as the main form of DRM and distribution of the title. This does make it a little more awkward for us retailers who aren't Steam, mostly because it's not always clear if we get the benefits of Steam users or not until the last minute, which can be frustrating for us an our customers - the system itself though, while sometimes frustrating, is simply a reality of the industry - publishers go with the bigger retailers because they make them more money, can't fault that.

The advantage of that is, as gamers at least, we're left with a DRM system that actually works and doesn't make the game less enjoyable than it is for the people who go out and pirate their games - I'm not sure you can say the same for all the other DRM systems out there.

I'll be buying from GMG again in the future, discounts trump tf2 promos for me.

my Green man key worked and im preloading

Can anybody else try theirs right now and see if it works?

Does Deus Ex come with any DLC packs on Steam or GMG? It's quite a bit cheaper in retail + it has two DLC packs there, but ... TF2 items... (and I don't even play TF2 at the moment!)

did you get the tf2 items?

Would they show up in my out of game inventory if I don't launch the game? They're not in my inventory on my profile page after preloading on Steam, but I don't play TF2 ever so not sure if that means anything.

The Steam version does not have any of the weapon packs or the Tracer Tong mission. Kind of a disappointment actually. Can't say anything about the GMG version but I assume it will be the same case there as well.

Well some one will end up cracking/accessing all that content for the pc version anyway.

I would launch tf2 just to make sure, you should get a notice there I guess.

I see, thanks. I'll go with retail then.

Keys are still being sent out. You can submit a ticket but chances are you'll receive a key before the end of the day. You'll also receive an email when your key is ready.
Ahh, there's no rush so I'll just wait it out. Thanks for the heads up.

I KNOW I KNOW

DEUS EX 2 IS COMING OUT IN 4 DAYS

Edit: And I just realised I can pretty much afford it - what's the cheapest possible way I can get it?
Actually, it #4. But don't let them know there was a #3, they are still trying to forget there was a #2.

That's how it looked before my code went up. From his forum post I am under the impression that their system is just going through and adding codes to people who bought the game, it's not an instaneous thing. So first time I checked my page looked like yours, second time I checked half an hour later there was a code there.

I actually liked the bits of Snowblind that I played more than Invisible War.
Yeah, but Invisible war was so panned, the Eidos decided it would be for the best to try and keep the IP's name good. So, Deus Ex 3 had the Deus Ex part dropped, and the plot changed.

Huh, I never knew that about Project Snowblind. Too bad the game won't work for me on Steam, I'd like to give it a try.

I loathe every one of you that can afford Deus Ex. I shouldn't have pre-ordered Skyrim so early.

It was really cheap on GMG at like $28 last month. You can still get it for $34 atm though.

Unfortunately I am pretty strict on myself with gaming budget, and can't allow myself to spend any more right now. Hopefully I can get it in September for a decent price, although normally after the first week of a game's release my jealousy fades and I get patience.

Hey, I own Project Snowblind on Steam. I guess it must have been bundled with something else I bought. Huh. And the cycle continues.
