Can-t play new Vegas because Steam has a server problem.

This shit is inexcusable for a single player game. That's one bad part about Steam, you don't own the game, is sort of like you rent the game forever.

Pretty sure that's because New Vegas uses cloud-saves dude. You can turn them off.

I deactivated cloud saves by right clicking the game and selecting "properties" and then "actualizations". Doesn't work.

Is it your first time playing the game?

I had the same problem with Peggle once, just had to verify integrity of blablabla to get it to work. Maybe it'll work for you too.

Make backups of your saves to be on the safe side though.

This might also reset your mods? I haven't modded any Steam bethesda games (own all of them except NV on disc) but should definitely check this out before trying.

I'm really looking forward to Hard Reset.

Also, looks like one of the hidden gems (Space Pirates and Zombies) staying in the top 20 of the Steam list has done well enough to earn a sequel:

Really happy about this, as I have about 10 hours into SPAZ right now and digging the game. If anyone likes Space Rangers they owe it to themselves to at least check out the demo, if not buy the game. Huge game as well. I started a 200 solar system game, and in my 10 hours I've traveled to about 25 so far.

Looks like it'll be a Steamworks title.
I'm out unless we can adjust the FOV.

Deus Ex: HR has made that a new standard for me.

Yeah I've put many hours into the demo. It's fantastic. I've been playing that instead of Deus Ex. I'll be buying it soon.

I'm a HUGE Space Rangers fan too.

If you log into your account and own another Serious Sam game on Steam, you'd notice you get an extra 10% off bringing the price down to $32.
I can get SS3 for $40 for the deluxe edition and $32 for the normal one. Nice.

saints row 2 $3.75 at D2D

Nice, I think I'll get this. I own it on Steam, but it was from a GamersGate key so it's censored and in German. I'll have to have Steam support nuke it from my account.

Shouldn't be the censored version, since D2D is a US site.

wow so deus ex has held my new vegas hostage!

started deus ex, LOVE IT so far but gonna wait till I have the place to myself tomorrow so I can up the sound and turn off the lights with no annoying distractions in the background

in meantime, wanted to play new vegas but steam refuses to launch and says "try again in a few minutes". but even if I reboot and try offline mode it doesnt work and says steam error.

its now been over an hour with no way to play this game I own on my own computer (new vegas). I dont know what causes offline mode to work or not work, but its pretty annoying that my games collection can be rendered unplayable at any time.

Yeah, what's going on with this? I played a bunch earlier today and I tried to play again tonight and it's stuck on "download starting". I thought something was wrong with the game files so I uninstalled the game (backed up the saves of course). Now the game won't even download when I try to reinstall.

Ok, well I enjoyed Episode 1, but Half Life 2 Episode 2 just provided me with what may have been the best six hours of gaming I have ever experienced. Practically everything about that game was perfect. Wow.

The only single player shooter that in any way rivals this one is Halo Combat Evolved. I am still deciding which one I prefer.

I see why people are so excited for Episode 3/Half Life 3 now. I know I am.

Oh, and the last level really sold me on it. I usually dread the final levels of games for some reason but the final level here was so intense and satisfying that it seemed to all go by in a blur.

HL2 doesn't have the Library so it wins by default.

True. But I enjoyed the Library somewhat. Still, Episode 2 had no levels that could in anyway be considered annoying like the Library so it probably is superior.

Blame Deus Ex, whenever a high ranking game comes the amount of users just makes steam cloud games impossible to use.

Okay I'm stupid, I can't launch New Vegas either. Seems to be NV specific though since all my other stuff works. Actually I guess it could be Steamworks related, though all those people playing Deus Ex right now (who I hate) make that seem unlikely.

Not a great advertisement for Steamworks :\

Tried that spaz game (the demo) for an hour.

Seems very tedious with poor visuals (functionality, it's easy to lose your own ship in the crowd etc) and nothing going for it other than being another one of those rpg upgrade carrot games.

I can't even connect to Steam to play my games right now. Hooray.
I tried to launch Deus Ex for the first time after decrypting, and Steam froze with no CPU activity for a few minutes. I killed it and tried to restart...couldn't connect to Steam to even login. No offline mode option. :(

I then deleted clientregistry.blob and I'm waiting on the really slow update process now to see if it lets me back in.

graywolf323 said:
Yup, can't get in online mode and it doesn't give me an option for offline mode even after updating from clientregistry.blob. I didn't try unplugging my network cable. I hope it comes back in the next 3 hours since I was hoping to you know, actually try Deus Ex HR tonight. :'(

i find unplugging nic fixes the offline problems, but only for games that i've successfully installed and launched before
Well the issue here is that it doesn't let you log in at all -- though unplugging might have given you a different error, I dunno.

And whenever I try to pause a download or something, it seems to completely lock the client up.

Ok, got a question here:

Last week I bought SR2 from gamersgate and activated it on steam, German version nonsense ensued. Now, I picked up the D2D version today and figured "what the hell" and tried to see what would happen if I activated it. Turns out, it activated, damnit, and sure enough, after I redownloaded the game, still in German... I am contacting Steam support about it, but they still havent gotten back to me from over a week ago about something else. Has this happened to anyone else? I mean to say, are there workarounds?

Sidhe Interactive (Shatter, Grip Shift) is developing a new game that will be released through Steam.

Rugby Challenge

Official Website: http://rugbychallengegame.com/

Storepage: http://store.steampowered.com/app/20840/

Man, I read that as Ruby Challenge and expected an arcade game like Shatter. Oh well, still <3 Sidhe.

Btw: I find it funny that this thread has made me try more games I'd never have even considered than any marketing campaign. Downloading SPAZ now.

This thread or forum is the best marketing platform. It gets even better during steam sales... You are somehow magically persuaded to buy all sorts of games. (recalls the enabling by Toma and Salsa)

Never intended to buy SPAZ now I'm thinking grrr
