I have never experienced a game previous nor after that encourages... nay, demands, you unlock your third eye as it were. Not your third eye as in you're suddenly at one with the universe and at peace with the world and your fellow man. More like how Neo learns and eventually wakes to see through the matrix, to see the code past the visual. To awake from his visual prison and see what's really going on. You think I jest? Elaborate for affect? No, I'm being dead serious.

And I'm sold. :lol

Also grabbed Altitude. It looks like it could suit my multiplayer needs, and for $2, it's no big loss if it isn't.

I got Space Giraffe on XBLA and I didn't 'get it'.

Of course, I never really 'got' Tempest either.

I'll probably fired it up once just to say "that's some weird shit".

So I decided to play Bioshock today but whenever I do I get a "This game is currently unavailable" message. I tried reinstalling it and I updated all my drivers but it's still coming up.

Also, what the fuck is going on in space giraffe? All I'm doing is pressing Q and W.

Bought the indie pack. Working on a PC-based arcade machine, and several of these seem like a perfect fit. The deal couldn't have come at a more perfect time for me.

Whoa $59 for all those games at non-sale prices.

I'M SAVING SO MUCH MONEY BY GIVING THEM $10 :lol :lol :lol

Steam are geniuses.

Gridrunner bought, I was supposed to buy it this week anyway so discount was a pleasant surprise. Already got Space Giraffe on 360.

Holy cow, this indie pack is AWESOME!

What's with the deal saving though?

I'm not saving €4,01, I'm saving much more ._.

I bought Galcon for $2. Awesome. It's my favourite game on my iPod Touch, now I have it on my desktop. Online is still the same great fun.

Deal saving is the saving you get from buying all games at that reduced 2 euro price, it ignores the original price points because they were slashed first.

FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I. SHOULD. NOT. COME. IN. THIS. THREAD. after thinking about NOT buying a Deal on Steam.

:lol

EDIT: a recently bought category would be sweet.

Think I'm going to double dip for Space Giraffe (bought the 360 version day one). What an awesome game.

God, when I think there are people who hate digital distribution and its "unfair prices" it makes me laugh :lol

To be fair, many such services do have unreasonable prices when compared to what you can get in-store, and I think it's quite fair to kvetch about them; the problem comes in when they make the mistake of assuming that because there's a few pricey titles, that ruins the entire concept, which is *very* wrong.

It seems like a lot of the haters seem to use an argument like- "Well I found a dusty old copy of Psychonauts for $5 after digging in clearance bins at 5 different Wal-Marts and on Steam it's $10, what a rip off!"

You can't really compare YMMV retail deals to the always available nature of Steam. Yes, it's awesome to pick up a cheap game on clearance, but it's nice to have the option to buy it 10 years later on Steam, even if it is a few dollars higher.

There is a demo, I kind of liked it. It is probably worth $2.

I just really want to try grid runner and super laser racer before I decide to buy them. I'm worried I'll put less than an hour into each-although maybe that's worth $2.

I have yet to finish an indie game that I thought, "Well that was worth it." Except for Audiosurf.
What about World of Goo? Justified the entrie last Indie pack I bought.

Did Sega even bother giving the files for Sonic to Valve? It seems like the game was pulled from the release list.
That reminds me, anyone know what happened to Outrun 2006? It seems like it was pulled right after the last sale on it. Sure, I can redownload it, but the fact that its gone from the store is just odd.

In that pack, how many of those games work well with a 360 controller? I know Space Giraffe and Gridrunner do. At least, I think Gridrunner does.

Damnit, where are the 360 controller for Windows XP drivers? They're not on windowsgaming.com like the manual said, and googling led me to something that didn't do anything on microsoft.com.

Though Gridrunner is pretty much tailored towards mouse play.

I couldn't resist that deal. Altitude is a gem. Played it for an hour just now. Totally see myself coming back to it all the time.

Space Giraffe is trippin me the fuck out. I have no idea wtf im supposed to do. :lol

Defense Grid just got an update-
* Fixed an issue in which AI audio would still play even if the Voice Over volume was turned all the way down.
* Fixed an issue that prevented the Voice Over volume slider from responding to mouse input.

HALLELUJAH! The voice over was terrible which made those volume bugs even more annoying.

I bought Space Giraffe and Gridrunner Revolution on the weekend so the indie deal is a mini-FFFFUUUU. At least I've put more cash in Jeff's pocket so he can buy stuff for his fluffy sheepies.

Add the game's .exe to your Steam list and you can launch it from there.
Unfortunately finding the exe can be a pain in the ass, especially for GFWL titles.

Try it again. I didn't "get it" at first either but once you know the rules it's a great game though not without a few niggles.

The beta version of Steam seems to crash every time I try to check out with Paypal, anyone else having this problem? Guess I'll have to revert back for now.

Yes. I'm just using the web store to buy stuff for now. Don't wanna switch back. This is me letting you guys know you can do that, if you didn't.

Mar_ is a nut for it. He makes it sound like some seriously Zen shit, so that was enough to sell me on it. Check out this description:

"Let's just get this out of the way. Space Giraffe is a revelation.

This effect is real and if you do want to finish this game you have to learn how to do it. The rewards for doing so are astonishing, or perhaps, astonishment, that what you're doing is actually happening. What others see as a mess of colour and abstract shapes randomly spewing at their eyeballs, you 'see' as a completely normal navigable landscape. 'See' in quotes because seeing is only half the reality, the other half is the audio cues that tell you what's actually going on, the code behind the matrix as it were.

It's so genius that I refuse to believe it was intentionally meant to work as effectively as it does, because I don't comprehend how that would be possible. To be able to create such a work would be to already have the gift of seeing inside of it, yet if you haven't learned to see inside it, how can you have ever had the insight in the first place? It's the whole chicken and egg routine.

Regardless, Jeff Minter is surely a design genius and as mad as a balloon."

From: http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/MarcBell/20100106/4023/Games_of_the_Year__Part_2__2007.php

Any chance of me ever buying this game disappeared after reading the quote. To be honest though, there was probably only like a 1% chance before reading the quote, so it's not like Mr. Minter really lost that much. And even if I had bought it, he'd only probably get like $1, but still. Writing like this turns of me off of whatever is being written about.

Don't know about others, but I have been buying games for years in all kind of modalities, non-specialist shops, big chains, Hong-Kong online shops, Amazon... and I have never found the quantity and quality of sales you get in a service like Steam, never (first hand only, I don't rent or buy second hand for new actual generation stuff).

Of course, I'm limited by my own rules, but the flexibility that Steam offers is pretty much unmatched to me. That said, I'm a firm believer that the more options, the best. It's not like I advocate the "download only future", but many people refuse to give Valve the credit they deserve to for this service.

So....have they restored Defense Grid save games?

I must say as happy as I am about the game receiving additional content and such, this shows a serious lack of pre-release testing. I mean, WTF is this amateur hour?

Defense Grid got new content? It deleted old saves? I haven't played that game in so long. I just remember that I beat it.

Product Release - Valve

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is now available on Steam!

Explore stunning new circuits including Sonic Seaside Hill, Curien Mansion and Blizzard Castle as you zip around medieval castle ramparts, hurtle under lush rain forest canopies and tear through bustling city scapes in a frantic race to the finish line.

Note: The PC version does not have Online multiplayer like the console and handheld versions do. The reason why if you did not know is because:

Yep. it just got an update and some new free DLC. But, it came at a cost.

Leaderboads were wiped (intentionally), as they moved to Steam leaderboards. Also, save games were wiped (unintentionally). Word on the streets is that they have a fix coming for the save game issue. Luckily I backed my saves up recently.

Uh, the xbox 360 controller was the most plug and play friendly peripheral I've ever used. On par with almost any mouse and keyboard.

What happens when you plug it in? Does the auto driver installation not work? I'm also running windows xp.

Honestly, I'd say this is understandable. I mean, look at Zero Gear. Going from 20K+ people playing the beta/demo, to less than 50 online after paid release. Don't think there's much of a market for PC kart games unless you're a Korean P2P studio. Don't know why they bothered porting anyway.

That number might not be accurate. Due to Infinity Ward's wonderful programming ability, there was an exploit that allowed pirates to play Modern Warfare 2 by having the Zero Gear demo/beta installed and using the files from that game.

The actual userbase for Zero Gear was never that big, but it's always been healthy and it has been continuously updated. So I think it's doing well.

Thanks Sega.

Holding back implies they created it, then decided not to release it. I got the impression from that quote that they just never created it on PC (which obviously would be very differnt, they can't use console code) because they knew it wouldn't bring in enough money to justify the costs.

True, but the end result is the same. A feature that should be there isn't, and the justification is "pirates lol".

Quickest way to turn me off a sale.

The price is $10 cheaper than the cheapest console version; Sega is letting you choose how much game you want and pricing it accordingly.

How I feel too.

Ironically having multiplayer in your game is one of the BEST ways to curb piracy, because it's much easier to STOP it when you control the online portion and people want to play it.

To be fair, I wouldn't buy it anyway. I have no interest in cart racers unless they're super cheap or particularly unique.

C'est la vie.

I fucking hate people like you.

Read the quote, understand what's going on, and then re-read your post before pressing the fucking button.

We need less of this "FUCK YOU PUBLISHER, YOU FUCKING SUCK (because I was never going to buy your sonic kart racer anyway, but NOW I'M DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO BUY IT)!!!!!!"

I might buy that bundle if I could exclude Space Giraffe. The XBL version is one of the worst excuses for a game I've ever endured. Llamashit aside, that is a pretty great deal.
