As for the ballot, I never really expected to get the characters I voted for (other than Roy, but that wasn't because I voted for him), so I didn't care all that much.
Bayonetta is a fine character to add to Smash, and it's cool that the west got to vote in a character, considering it usually feels like he generally adds Japanese fan requests.

It's Corrin I take issue with
I have no problem with Bayonetta being in the game but I was expecting more characters from the ballot than just one that was bound to be a shoo in anyway.
Wonder Red, Takamari and Saki were robbed.

For real, my biggest disappointment is that they went with Corrin over Azura for the Fates rep. She's clearly #2 importance-wise, but you can say the same about Robin and Lucina for Awakening. An elegant spear-user with magical singing powers appeals to me a lot more than a dragon swordsman, and visually she's a lot more unique when put next to the other FE characters.

Yeah, I would have loved to have Neku, but I knew it wasn't realistic. I do kind of wish there was a Mii costume of him though, but then again, knowing how Square wants to make everyone TWEWY exists, I can see why it wasn't there.

And that's exactly why they should release it. At the very least the Top 5. I knew from the very beginning that my votes were not going to win, so I kept my excitement in check. But we're overdue for another widespread GAF meltdown.

Don't remind me, I already get annoyed every time I see them putting male Corrin front and center or general talk of amiibos comes up because it just reminds me we're going to get stuck with 'him' -.-

The final Smash presentation did say he was the most popular Final Fantasy request atleast, which I assume was gathered after the first few weeks of the ballot.
I mean maybe Sakurai is still a fraud and other super horrible things because Cloud didn't even reach the top 10, but I'm guessing he still got some of the most votes despite fan polls making people think otherwise.

I would like if all the alternate characters and such got their own amiibos. Female Robin, Male WFT, all the Koopalings, Alph, hell, go crazy and make amiibos of stuff like overalls Wario and Wireframe Little Mac.

As long as they were properly supported in other games (e.g. skins in mario maker or playable as characters should they ever do anything like project S.T.E.A.M. again) then I'd be ok with that :3

Oh I say Blaze Blue because Fire Emblem is very anime-ish like the it.

Fun fact: even though Chrom is considered the main main character by many, "two protagonists" was actually a selling point for Awakening, with Chrom and Robin both marketed as lead characters. But I digress...
Corrin is undeniably the main character of Fates, and he's not just a bland swordsman like Chrom, so there wasn't any reason to go with Azura instead. The protagonist is always chosen first if applicable, and it makes sense: no character better represents a game than the one you spend the most time with. That's probably why we got Villager over a "real" character like Tom Nook.

I'd have loved Neku even if TWEWY's one star has been starting to fade a bit. Shame the semi-revival in 2012 with the Kingdom Hearts appearances and iOS port/teaser didn't seem to lead anywhere.
As far as Mii costumes go there are a ton of SE ones I'd have liked to see. I'm incredibly surprised there's nothing from Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger, but on the other hand there were probably licensing issues with Akira Toriyama which seems fair enough.

Im not super happy about how it all turned out as I would like a different Final Fantasy rep and I wanted a Castlevania character to complete things but Bayonetta is still awesome to have. All I know is I hope Konami and Koei-Tecmo get repped next go around with Simon Belmont and Angelique. Bomberman for Hudson would be nice too. At some point I would like to get a little more info on how the ballot actually went though.

Hey, it gave people Bayonetta. A character I heard a lot of people asking for. All I wanted and still want is Waluigi, but at least I got Mewtwo and Corrin; 2 characters to add to my list of mains.
I predict that the top 5 Nintendo characters from the ballot will be added in the rumoured NX port + 2 easily Obtainable 3rd Parties.

That second part sounds backwards. We have no indication that Corrin was voted for at all--basically every explanation for Corrin they've supplied hasn't mentioned their popularity at all. Even the Japanese fans seems confused by him. Roy on the other hand was a pretty popular character and it's been said that his popularity was key in bringing him back.
Though I would agree that Roy was also a pretty bad idea. Had we gotten Wolf instead of Roy I think Corrin would have blown over much faster.

For sure. But I think Robin being chosen over Chrom is evidence that, if the protagonist is less interesting, Sakurai is willing to choose the closest appealing alternative - accepting that your dual protagonist point sort of undermines that conclusion.
The only question is where to draw the "too bland" line. Sakurai clearly out Chrom on one side and Corrin on the other. I disagree - Corrin feels bland to me, and I'd put both of them in the "skip" pile. But I'm not the director of Smash. *shrug*

I'd have to look up the exact wording again but I'm pretty sure that at the very least they never mentioned Corrin in relation to the ballot itself (and had he been a popular request they would have surely mentioned it). I think it was Fates's general popularity they mentioned.

I was actually more thinking of the character polls released after fates came out.
Boy corrin is 5th most popular male, and girl corrin is #1 most popular female.
Edit: I really thought #3 was a girl <_<;

I agree with this. I feel like most of the annoyance over things like Corrin's inclusion and Wolf's exclusion were exacerbated pretty badly by Roy's presence. Corrin's just become the scapegoat since they came after, despite being the actually unique one of the two FE downloads.
Sakurai considers Chrom "just another sword user," which clearly doesn't apply to Corrin. He doesn't use his sword in any of his special moves or his Final Smash, and a lot of his standard attacks involve his transforming limbs. I really don't think Corrin is bland at all.

If Konami was to be repped in Smash by only one character once more, it would be Snake for obvious reasons. But after everything that has happened, I don't see that company getting a character in Smash again.

Don't think Corrin would have been popular that on the ballot as more fire emblem fans thought there was no shot of another fire emblem char.
Roy only got in because he was a legacy character, he's probably be like the 20th character to be added in if it was up to Fire Emblem fans.

I cannot be disappointed over the Ballot. because I'm convinced its value will be more evident long term, when future Smash games take a glance at it and introduce characters accordingly. If indeed in development, I'd expect this to materialize as soon as the NX up-port, however slightly. Bayonetta's really only the beginning, and darned if that isn't an exciting prospect.
Also the random jabs at King K. Rool really reek of low hanging fruit nowadays, and I'm not even invested in the character.
