Well that's nice to hear. People I've talked to think that the relative strictness of this game is going to scare people away.

Yeah, with this remake, I hope for it not to have shortcuts of any kind. Just give me the HD, online treatment and keep everything the same.

3s has its own sense of leniency, just more in regards to Supers. I'm sure someone can go into more detail, as it's been awhile since I've played.

What's great about oldschool fighters is the lack of leniency in regards to all inputs a la Marvel and SF4, allowing for more precision in movement and footsies. You don't have any retarded innovations like plink dashing or Viper Seismo shenanigans as a result, but the feeling of being in total control of character more than makes up for it.

Yep, the only thing is some kara stuff, besides that it's pretty much what you said.

Looks like the standard vomit filter that is unfortunately applied to many sprite based games.

When I get my new PC, I'll re-encode this 4 disc set of a huge Toronto 3s team tournament that happened in 2001-02. Or maybe it was 6 discs lol. Either way I don't think I can handle it on an awful upload rate.

I just played 3rd strike for the first time and I really really like it. The only problem I'm having is that SSF4 has babied me in input shortcuts and it can be annoying when I'm trying to go for supers or even simple special moves and nothing coming out.... Strangely though, that's what's making me come back to the game.
Did you play SF2 back in the day? I played SF2 up until Rainbow Edition, and back then I got to where every special came out on command. Shit was automatic. Fast forward to SF4 and it's like you said, the lenient inputs lull you into relying them and it sloppies up your execution. I play ST and 3S now and I can't believe how much difficulty I am having with simple dragon punch motions or QCFx2 for supers. But I also really appreciate the stricter inputs and would get rid of them in SSF4 in a heartbeat if I could.

And I have a feeling that some people who started with SF4 may be turned off by the stricter system in 3S. I'm sure some will stick with it if they like the game, but I feel like this generation is more "spoiled" (for lack of a better word) and rather than grind the game out until they get the execution down they may just quit on it early. I hope that isn't the case though.

I wish they would just do widescreen, redraw the UI, keep the backgrounds and only filter the characters. Don't know if it's possible, though.

I don't think is possible without altering the gameplay. Arcana Heart 3 has the same problem and even if it's possible to play in 16:9, everyone online play in 4:3 because the game was designed with that screen size. Moves with wallslam property and zoning tools work differently if you make the screen larger.

Yep. 2I in widescreen also behaved differently than 2I in full screen.

Wait wait wait, I know 2I had widescreen but how did it make things different than in 4:3?

EDIT: BTW can I make a thread to talk about SF3: NI and NG? Kinda want to share some info about it for those that couldn't get a chance to play it ^_^; Will the mods be OK with that?

I think there is no issue with creating an LTTP for SF3 NI/NG, but I am not sure what the precise rules about these are.

Well what first comes to mind is Hugo's throw against the wall as well as Ryu's EX axe kick. The wall bounces don't work so well for juggle combos because you have to dash forward a couple times to catch the falling body!

It does look really nice though on a widescreen tv, but I doubt they will reimplement it into 3S. It was an experiment at best.

Is Capcom holding a press conference today? Because I really want to know a release date for this.

No. I'm pretty sure they're gonna show some stuff at the other press conferences and just have the rest on the show floor. Just stick with the main coverage on GT, IGN, G4, or any other site.

Strictness? 3S is really, really loose when it comes to inputs. Not only that, the super motions are greatly simplified compared to any other Street Fighter game. I mean I guess SFIV took it to a new level with dragon punch motions but damn, it was already easy in the preceding game.

In other news, Alex is the coolest fighting game protagonist ever.

Yeah...I really don't understand what people are saying. lol

The complaints leveled at SF4 in regards to loose controls are similar to what was said about 3s in comparison to other SF games. It makes sense, I guess, but funny for me to hear since I've been playing so long.

The circle of life.

As I said, 3S has its own leniency but in regards to shortcut motions, only. There's no generous buffer system a la SF4/Marvel in regards to all inputs. That's where the comments regarding precision are coming from.

i loved this game it really is a deep deep game, i must say i disagree with hugo's ranking though...he can rape he should atleast be considered mid tier. Ken should have a special tier all his own to accurately depict how you can own him for an entire round and suddenly hear
"owatta!!!!" and realize you might as well put your controller down...bastard...

I think its the weight of the game that really steps on people. Sure, its easy enough for us, but is in no way as loose as MvC or even the original SF. For a non serious fighting gamer, its a bit stiff. I've seen and heard it from a ton of people, and I can understand what they are getting at. By no means is it a just-frame fest, just a bit more stern that what most people are used to in a 2D fighter I believe.

MvC isn't actually as loose as SF3 with inputs, but its inputs are even simpler in general so it's not a big deal. Plus a lot of characters would become harder to use with a wider input buffer (Strider). I dunno about MvC3, it seems about the same as SFIV, maybe a little stricter overall.

Also the original Street Fighter had the strictest input requirements of any SF game, so I'm kinda lost there. You had to not only input exactly the right motions, but the timing had to be frame-perfect, too.

Anyway I think it's just a symptom of people playing SFIV as their first serious attempt at a fighting game. Going back to games with slightly less loose inputs will feel weird. Ideally you should just start with Super Turbo! :D

A shame he's one of the weakest characters in just about all 3 SF3 games =/

:(

Third Strike has awesome gameplay and animation, now if only the new characters weren't so freaking boring, lame and uninspiring.
Man, Q is where it's at. Third Strike is awesome. I'm SO ready to play this online edition, lag out, and turn it off. *rubs hands as he responds to super old post*

I'm not a 2d fighting fan, and I've never played 3rd Strike, but aesthetically I've always appreciated 3rd strike. From the way 3rd strike animates, to character designs, the level backdrops, and the music, the game is amazing in each of these aspects. when capcom drops the re-release I may give it a purchase.
