Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

The announcer sucks. I don't even know which locations fists will fly in.

looks like theyre focusing on a design aesthetic thats completely opposite to what theyve done in the past few years
like instead of flashy its very minimalist and mellow
which is cool and fine because its different than any other Street Fighter UI, but yea that announcer has hardly any personality so far

hope he gets to have a little bit more fun

That might be for the best honestly. Bison has much slower walk speed in this and he lost an amazing normal in his old standing roundhouse. I believe not having played him in the prior game might actually help you in specific circumstances.

That being said, the video link above showing Justin essentially trying to use him like it was Four. Dat pressure. Too bad ex scissors do not go through projectiles in this one apparently.

Do we know if v-trigger scissors goes through projectiles? It looks like it could, since you go invisible during the startup, but with the simplistic dummy settings I wasn't able to test it in training.

Just bring back the 3rd Strike announcer. I wait his return.
And Q's

In nature, only the strong survive! Which of these warriors will illustrate this principle today?

I must be blind... What am I supposed to be seeing? Bison gets up slower from one knockdown and quick from another?

Ryu's dashes travel much further after certain knockdowns, allowing you to push your opponent into the corner more easily.

Getting the feeling the beta won't be coming back. And that "you guys will get your 5 days" will just be an earlier second beta or something lumped into that period. I mean, it's almost noon on the East coast and not a peep. So for east coasters, this has been a full day and a half of nothing.

And as a guy who works Tues-Sat with Sunday and Monday off, this stings even more.

On the hard knockdown, Ryu is dashing twice as fast...or something close to it. You can rush your opponent into the corner from mid screen knockdown at this point in time. It'll get fixed. That would get exploited in no time.

Basically what is happening is that while Bison is still in the animation of being knocked down, if you initiate a dash, his body does not prevent the proper amount of forward movement as it normally does. You can think of it like Bison not having proper "weight" if you dash into him at a certain moment during his knockdown animation (though whether this is Bison specific, Ryu specific or just a general bug I don't know). This allows the Ryu player to push him much further than he should be able to until he gets up.

0 minutes, 0 seconds of beta thus far. I'm just envious of you bastards who got to play :_(

btw, I want the SFA3 announcer back.

Ah, okay. I saw that, didn't pay it any mind. I wonder if it's the same for everyone -- a general physics issue -- or specific to Ryu and/or Bison.

If you can look on any given page in this thread and see no one is talking about getting in or trying to get in, you can safely assume it's not up rn. The hype will resume, and you will know it when you see it.

I'm not sure why you think it's not coming back. Also, Capcom is on the west coast and it's only 7:30 am there now. If they wanted to give up on this phase they wouldn't have stayed up all Friday and Saturday trying to troubleshoot. I enjoy my weekends off, so I appreciate they put in the extra time.

People really need to read the OP or check the official SF Twitter before they ask about the status of the beta.

Some people haven't even been reading posts on the same page as their reply, so that would be a huge ask!

That said, Capcoms communication has been pretty poor all round.

I get a new "can not connect" error everyday lol
I know this a beta but this not putting much faith in my pre-order.

Damn you're right, I also see the same questions and late quotes many times while they already have been answered long before they hit the reply button.

Really? I think their communication has been pretty darn good despite all the beta issues. They were giving updates every 20 minutes on the status. There were pretty straightforward with what has been going on the whole time. Did you keep up with their Twitter and unity postings?

The amount of people coming into this topic asking why the hell they can't connect to the beta tells me they are not doing such an awesome job at communication.
If you knew already where to find the information about the beta sure you could find it, but otherwise I can't blame all the people who took some days off or didn't follow the beta religiously enough not knowing about the crazy situation it is right now. ^^
Capcom should implement a notice message in the client to warn people about what is happening when they start the game, kinda like what From does with Dark Souls or BB...

They haven't said anything in about a day, though.

I've gotta be honest, I'm pretty sour on the whole experience because it really does seem like there's some preferential treatment going on with who can and can't connect. Collectively I've gotten maybe 30-35 minutes in training but didn't get a single match. Meanwhile, there are people who got 10, 20 or more matches. I don't believe in coincidence; especially when some of those people are YouTube personalities, FGC figureheads or industry folk.

Whether or not there's an "illuminati" thing going on, Capcom shouldn't have promised the beta to people who preordered, or at the very least, should have tested basic shit like connections in-house very well before putting it out to the general (paying) public.

Huge props to ComboFiend and co. for making the best of a bad situation and communicating, but it's ridiculous how piss-poor this has performed. It's like they've never put out a networked game before which we know isn't the case.

Sort of. They provided frequent updates on Friday and Saturday but they were all posted to a Capcom Unity forum thread (which was often inaccessible) instead of Twitter. That didn't make sense to me at all.

SHIT NEW PAGE. THE SERVER IS DOWN. NOONE CAN CONNECT. NOT EVEN THE WHITELIST MASTER RACE. PLEASE DO NOT BE ALARMED. EVERYTHING WILL BE OK

I mean right now. I'm not expecting a date of when to start or anything, but I think a lot of people expected the servers to be up yesterday, but then only clue they weren't before the Twitter post on the same day was the last update on the server status on Saturday 1am that just said to wait for more information on the next test. Even then, the twitter post just said maintenance, so are they up today or not?

I can't even remember where I read that the full 5 days would be moved to another date. Think that was just a comment from Combofiend in a thread about that days server updates too.
