Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

Capcom knows how we feel about this, so they could at least throw us a bone to chew on. Are they waiting for new servers to be delivered? Did they choose same day delivery? Who knows...

The amount of people coming into this topic asking why the hell they can't connect to the beta tells me they are not doing such an awesome job at communication.
If you knew already where to find the information about the beta sure you could find it, but otherwise I can't blame all the people who took some days off or didn't follow the beta religiously enough not knowing about the crazy situation it is right now. ^^
Capcom should implement a notice message in the client to warn people about what is happening when they start the game, kinda like what From does with Dark Souls or BB...

That would require another beta.

Ok, fair point. The information was there and up-to-date, it just wasn't obvious where to find it.

Yeah, I'm not talking about this phase, obviously. ^^
It's too late for this one, but they'd be well advised to think about this for the future betas...

Haha I was just joking, a beta for a function in another beta. Quite funny but a possibility knowing Capcom.
Yo dawg, I herd yu liek testing so we put a test in your test so you can test your testing.

All this bison talk is awesome. I'm digging what tools he has and all of his normals except standing HK are super awesome. My current go-to high damage combo is this:
Either lead in attack (jHK or dfHP), cMP, EX ball, MK knee press. Does about 35% for one bar and can be extended with trigger activation after the lead in hit.

Yeah, I've never taken to playing dictator but if I'm able to get into the beta again I want to give him a try. Even aesthetically I really like what they did with the character. The white hair, maniacal grin, and trench coat are all awesome! If Gief has his cape when he's added I'm gonna lose my shit!

They made a good job, i mean it's on Twitter, on Capcom-Unity, on various websites... But yeah they will probably add something ingame for the release.

Yeah, I mean the blog is acting like the beta is still going. They haven't updated that section at all, same with the PS blog. So unless you were on Twitter the time it was tweeted out or in their forums, you'd have no clue what's going on.

I mean right now. I'm not expecting a date of when to start or anything, but I think a lot of people expected the servers to be up yesterday, but then only clue they weren't before the Twitter post on the same day was the last update on the server status on Saturday 1am that just said to wait for more information on the next test. Even then, the twitter post just said maintenance, so are they up today or not?

I can't even remember where I read that the full 5 days would be moved to another date. Think that was just a comment from Combofiend in a thread about that days server updates too.

https://twitter.com/streetfighter
There's a lot of stuff there.

It's not like they can give a status update in-game though as that would require accessing the server. So they kinda screwed themselves.

Primarily 2 days ago yeah, after that it's just a status update that feels kinda "oh we have to say something now". It's not clear enough for people who have been following the beta, let alone the people who didn't.

Eh, If you've been following the beta or are familiar with twitter, there's plenty of info to be found easily since they direct people to the forum. Otherwise, you might be lost as to what's happening. Aside from that point, I don't have any beef with their communication so far.

A simple access to an HTML page in the client would do just fine. ^^

Yeah, but probably too late for that this weekend.

Yeah, but probably too late for that this weekend.

But Capcom Unity was crashing a lot during the beta, so status updates through Capcom Unity wasn't a great idea. I agree that the most recent tweet and the latest status update on the CU thread informs you about the current status, but does it gives you a heads up about what they're planning or what we can expect?

What does Hasney mean by saying the servers are down? Has anyone else had problems signing in? I'm a streamer, and was told I'd be on the "list." What even is happening in here?

Anyone have any background in this sort of thing? I'm curious logistically what's involved with getting servers up and running at the appropriate capacity for a game like this. MK has a pretty robust cross-platform data sharing feature set, and it worked pretty well out of the gate. Perhaps they have custom software to integrate with the game and it's not up to speed yet?

It looks to be a mix between them having quite a lot of bugs in their server code (they mentionned fixing several different aspects of them those last days), and a good old lack of capacity of those servers.

I've gotta be honest, I'm pretty sour on the whole experience because it really does seem like there's some preferential treatment going on with who can and can't connect. Collectively I've gotten maybe 30-35 minutes in training but didn't get a single match. Meanwhile, there are people who got 10, 20 or more matches. I don't believe in coincidence; especially when some of those people are YouTube personalities, FGC figureheads or industry folk.

I think it's more likely that those are the people who are there trying to connect 24 hours a day every day. Maybe.

Also, IMO, a good Bison won't give Nash that much space.

Nash was the character I was least threatened by as Bison. You can pressure him hard and the second he tries to do anything to escape especially his V trigger teleport you can EX Psycho Inferno him on reaction. Also if someone tosses a slow boom you don't have to absorb it if he follows it in and jumps you can either Psycho shot fierce punch will absorb it and hit him out of the air depending on distance, Psycho inferno will give you the same effect and is a bit safer or if you have full meter you could just Ultimate Psycho Crusher him as it will absorb the fireball and deal massive damage..... hell you could Psycho inferno into Psycho crusher to add insult to injury.

Do we know if v-trigger scissors goes through projectiles? It looks like it could, since you go invisible during the startup, but with the simplistic dummy settings I wasn't able to test it in training.

Yes it does the startup has the same properties as his dash you basically teleport into the kick Bison is pretty damn legit right now.

SHIT NEW PAGE. THE SERVER IS DOWN. NOONE CAN CONNECT. NOT EVEN THE WHITELIST MASTER RACE. PLEASE DO NOT BE ALARMED. EVERYTHING WILL BE OK

Ok I understand that the servers are down, but i just want to play the client, not the server. I'm also on the green list.

I'm really glad I could play enough at the weekend.

Whether or not there's an "illuminati" thing going on, Capcom shouldn't have promised the beta to people who preordered, or at the very least, should have tested basic shit like connections in-house very well before putting it out to the general (paying) public.

Huge props to ComboFiend and co. for making the best of a bad situation and communicating, but it's ridiculous how piss-poor this has performed. It's like they've never put out a networked game before which we know isn't the case.

If you keep in mind that most haven't got into training mode yet, especially those of us in the EU, those 30-35 mins that you got may not seem that bad.

Some folks had a much easier time getting into the game than others, and a few of those folks were streamers. Combine that with rising salt levels and you get conspiracy theories and such.

That's exactly what the whitelist want you to believe. Bet you're part of the secret boys club.

LET ME INNNNNNNN

I haven't gotten in once, so I'm definitely on the "blacklist".

Pre-ordered from PSN too. Sony, you didn't provide my name for Capcoms whitelist, damn you!

It should just tell you that people are idiots and lazy.
There is an official Twitter, and there is a thread on Capcom's site.
If people are too fucking stupid or helpless to know how to check official sources first, then I could not give a crap less if they get to play.
Hell watching streams last night there are still people that do not even know what system the game is on.
Edit: NOT ONLY that, but even if you are lazy you could take a few mins and read through a few posts and it will answer your questions.

I don't blame all of those who come in to ask. In fact, I would say, those making fun or getting frustrated at the guys, are way more annoying than those actually asking politely.

Oh come on its just a game. They arent idiots or lazy. Some of you should relax with the defense of the borked highly anticipated beta.

Blame the plebs. Righto! Doesn't matter that other connection based games have dedicated news feeds in the game to let users know whats up. Like, why should they even bother? I put the info on my twitter and a single thread on my website, that's enough.

So what that people don't know why they are being kicked to the dashboard and not connecting. Hardcore players know what's up. Who needs to give new players a welcoming reason to stick around? Fuck that, blame them when they show interest in playing a beta that's not working for them.

Players love being in the dark. It's all that new obtuse storytelling that Dark Souls made so popular! Want info? Just do some digging! Totally let's us off the hook AND it's fun for the player!

There's always gonna be some kinda super dedicated defender of anything I guess, even a Beta of a game that isn't doing to well.
I dont know why. Honestly if I just got on to play today while working all weekend and logged on and found it wasnt working still I would ask the same thing.

I pretty much just asked if it worked and thats after waking up lol

Ok, Devil's advocate... should they just be throwing a twitter up every hour saying "Nothing new to report"? Would that make some people feel better?
