Oh my god, they made Lariat worth a damn. Hell yeah.

The sheer length of these notes makes me real excited for season 2 of the Pro Tour. It's going to be a lot of fun watching people better at this game than me pick all these changes apart. Hopefully these changes bring a bunch of the lesser seen characters into the mid/top tier.

Yup, now everyone is going to get pissed at him and he'll be nerfed to irrelevance in S3. Thanks Capcom.
At least an entire season of Urien dominating would be fun to watch.

I genuinely think that Urien was already one of the better characters in the game. This might make him ridiculous, we'll have to wait and see.

I'm not a fan of the Vega changes. I could not care less about his new niche corner juggles nor the BC change. HP ASE is still slow as hell and the changes to his s.MP and v-skill are going to be a real pain in some match-ups.

Its bundled on Steam as SFV deluxe edition. I assume the same on PS4?
S2 is DLC add on for now, no bundles that I can see.

Yeah I was more thinking that maybe on Steam they'd remove the base version of SFV and replace it as SFV+Season 1 for the same price.

Chen playing taps while reading mika nerfs rofl

I have a feeling Mika is going to make people even saltier Season 2.

If she gets you in the corner, she STILL will kill you. And, next year "I got Mika'd" won't be an excuse, because "she sucks now".

Seriously, she doesn't sound as bad as people think...

yeah basically

even without the rope bounce (which was dumb) she always had carry

the thing was that the rope bounce + 1 ex level gave her a p convenient carry + decent damage combo, whereas other people had to decide between carry or damage -sometimes-

but she beat the official Capcom waifu and has to pay

I think a lot of folks are still looking at a lot of these changes through the lens of Season 1, and being used to how things worked in that season.

I'm not a die hard SFV player, but perhaps things will just have to settle before hard conclusions can be made. "Let it rock" as the scene would say.

Any word on a packaged version of SFV with season 1 content coming? I just got a PS4 and am weighing my options for getting into this game.

If you don't mind digital you can get SFV Deluxe Edition, which includes the Season 1 Pass, for about $45 on sale on PSN. They just had that deal a couple weeks ago.

I don't know if they will do a rerelease. They don't even have costume bundles so I wouldn't hold my breathe for those.

Birdie didn't get hit too hard with nerfs and got a bunch of buffs in exchange. It's still annoying his lone 4f move was made 5f

I'd say gutting his low strong anti-air and making toward fierce and slide much easier to punish are pretty "hard" nerfs, though stand strong seems pretty crazy, now.

And stand short was (and as far as can be seen from the notes, still is) 4 frames, making it the lone one.

I half expected Ibuki nerfs. Really happy with her buffs. Today there's a 150 HP difference between her and Birdie, tomorrow it's down to 75 :)

Not satisfied until Capcom makes Scissor Kick +5 on block?

Yup.

The coffin is for his enemies right?

wtf? he's hella buffed

Looks like net buffs ❓
-_-

Edit: Alright, I have a moment to explain now.

Bison has Dhalsim walkspeed.
Bison has Zangief dashes.
Bison has normal range attacks.
Bison has no projectiles.
Bison has no overheads.
Bison has no command grab.

If you add all this up you get a character that has no capacity for footsies, weak pressure, no ability to open his opponents up, and to top it off, Bison has weak defenses. The patch did nothing to address any of this. The only bright side to all this is that the c.HP change might allow him to anti-air effectively sometimes, but it will probably just trade like usual.

Oh boy, Bison got a 3-frame normal. Great. Let's look at what Bison lost:
1) Bison's s.MP is no longer one of the few pokes in the game where the hitbox outranges the hurtbox. This move used to be FANTASTIC, and now it is average.
2) Bison's df.HP now has 2 more frames of startup. This is by far his best move, and he relies on it for closing in. Now it's significantly worse for no reason.
3) His V-Trigger got nerfed.

This is Bison, a 100% defensive character until he gets V-Trigger, looks like when he tries to anti-air:

He's free to jump-ins.

Is Bison better overall as a character? The real answer is that it doesn't matter because he's still a huge slow weak piece of shit.

Edit: JUST KIDDING, I looked it up and Dhalsim actually walks faster than Bison. The 1 frame buff to Bison's forward dash makes him just as fast as Dhalsim, so now he can be the rushdown powerhouse everyone is used to when Dhalsim gets in.

92 pages of patch notes, that they haven't allowed the community to test, and sticking to the 1 balance update per year.

That's certainly one way to do it.

wtf? he's hella buffed

Not all that much. Most everything on that list is pretty minor aside from the 3f s.LK. Having a 3f normal is definitely a nice thing for him, but he's not going to move the needle overall a ton. The nerfs to his DR mobility are also not trivial for a character who has garbage defensive tools.

Still, his changelist is far from the biggest offense here. That coffin is reserved for Alex, low tier character who was nerfed far more than he was buffed for reasons that will likely never be explained.

Necalli changes... ? This is a little to inside for me but sound like nerfedthrough the floor
But I did always wanta more dangerous command grab and safer charge attack so I guess...
Might actually be a buff to my shitty playstyle

Hopefully they just didn't bother listing a bunch of necessary, fundamental changes for mysterious reasons, because for 92 pages that's a really sad, tiny collection of them for a game that so badly, badly needs them. Game needs massive netcode and loading time improvements, just to start with, and there's no mention of either.

Not sure why they apparently nerfed my main character (Alex) so much, but at least there's a couple of small improvements too.

Is Ryu fucked?

I wouldn't say fucked, but a little worse yeah. He got hit with universal nerfs that everybody received. He also received a ton of minor nerfs. He also received a handful of minor buffs that aren't even helpful such as new combos. But these new combos don't even do more damage or help him in any new areas.

Basically all he got was being able to do more damage off his st. HK anti air. But it seems like everybody can do this in season 2 now. The other decent buff is that EX fireball is +2 on block now. So he has Ken style frame traps in the corner which could also lead to big damage juggle combos in the corner when hit confirmed. IMO this is his best buff.
