Street Fighter V Season 2 Patch Notes Released (92 page PDF)

Can someone help me understand the Chun-Li changes, have no clue what I'm reading and what it means. She is the only character I like T_T
 
Instant Air legs? Can barely pull them off, so I never try.

Given how air legs was essential for Chun last season, I stopped playing her because I did not want to put in the time for the execution. I may consider her again now lol

Akuma and Laura are currently in my sights though, disappointed with the Alex balances.

No more instant air legs. Standing heavy punch is worse and you shouldn't use it at closer ranges. EX legs is a little better.

Otherwise, pretty similar. Some neat air combos off crush-counter are now possible.
 
With Mika nerfed to all hell and Laura, Ibuki, and Juri all getting buffs I'll guess I'll have more character choices. Really like that. Those characters were all ones I wanted to play but were too weak.

But my heart still hurts for the loss of my lovely gutsy lady. :(

Her cr.lp is now 4-frames

You can do legs by mashing lk

You can cancel the fireball or legs into V-Trigger now.

V-Trigger doesn't last as long, but now she has more combos available to her with the above change.
 
If you're considering Laura, they didn't do much (s.mk?) to her neutral game. If you were frustrated by that aspect in S1, don't expect it to change.
 
We'll see how the system changes themselves benefit Bison. I have my doubts, but won't go crazy depressed yet.

The changes themselves are as Wallach said, though. "Meh".
 
i wish they buffed Vega's cr hp w/ claw but overall his changes sound good. Better positioning after lk roll and better meter gain on special moves and stun is nice. Making v skill harder to use makes it less likely I will ever use it now.
 
Wow, as a Urien main I thought he was actually not too bad and not needing of many changes.

These buffs...I'll take them, just hope he doesn't get the hammer next year.

Yes a character cost $6 I believe or you can get him for "free" if you have enough fight money. You can do story mode and other stuff to get some easy FM if you haven't done it already. I don't know how the costume stuff functions though. The season pass gets you the Season 2 DLC characters and their premium costumes.

Story costumes are unlocked with fight momey. Premium costumes cost real money.
 
I really can't see how Urien isn't top 3 after reading his changes....already has enough tools to fight and beat your ass, they had to make him better? Urien Army gonna be every where now...hopefully they watch how the balance is playing out and change stuff up during the year, and not wait until the end of season to make changes..

Those Laura buffs seems kinda nuts, considering the stuff she can already set up. Why is that huge ass overhead plus?
It's actually looking like she'll be even easier to counter poke, making her already sketchy footsies even more sketch. You'll probably be seeing st mk a little bit less for instance. While they buffed the hit advantage, allowing for her to just straight up link to st/cr lp and st/cr lk without counter hit (while allowing linking to cr mp on counter hit(insane) the on block disadvantage is now as risky as Laura having her lp elbow, former cr lk, st hp, and f+ hp blocked. Instant 50/50 not in Laura's favor. And if she tries to use the counter hit setup with st mk~st lk and the st mk is blocked, because of the buff to the hurtbox and the nerf to the hitbox of the st lk, she'll most likely get counter hit for trying. Her jumping mk and st hk received similar nerfs/buffs in the hitbox/hurtbox department.

With her fireball also generating less meter, as insane as it looks on paper, she's probably really going to need that overhead!

Nostalgia costume is NOT in the season pass. We don't know as of yet whether the Nostalgia costumes will be available with FM or Real Money exclusive.

Definitely this, happy for the revamp but they are bound to have fucked some things up here and I don't want an entire year of, for example, Urien being the new Mika.

Meter gain is needed and that got hit on his part. A lot of his tools relied on it otherwise he's fairly mediocre beyond his AR. They just normalized him by giving him an AA and letting you reach AR faster.
 
Man, these Alex nerfs hurt. I do like the stomp buff, but I really question the decision to nerf so many normals...

I think you have to look at it in the overall context of the game, and at this stage it is difficult to see how it will all play out. Practically every character has had normals nerfed so leaving some untouched could create an imbalance.

In light of everyone's damage nerfs, the damage buffs on Rashid might be pretty significant. Everyone else gets a 10% ish reduction (I'm sure there are some exceptions), but he got a 10% buff.

They also enhanced his comboability, which is nice.

The changes in general are a bit odd though. I think some of them feel as though they haven't been made with any particular intent. Many features changing just for the sake of change, without much thought or discussion on how it will affect gameplay. I think Capcom just want to change things so that players will discover a new meta, which is interesting but some more sensible changes would have been nice. What's the point in weakening Alex's footsies? Why did Guiles boom's get buffed? These changes don't seem considerate to the characters current efficacy, it's like they rolled a dice to determine which way each move would go.

They hit the nail into some of the most complained about characters and moves, but the rest just looks like guess work. It looks as if the balance update was made by someone who doesn't play the game, but instead tried to vaugely gauge community feedback on reddit or something like that.

Man, if they bundled the nostalgia costumes I would absolutely grab that season pass. I really hope I can buy that Alex costume soon. I love the jacket.

You may be right about that. I will keep playing him no matter what. I have a history of playing bottom tier. It is fine.
 
Iirc PS4 should be identical to the arcade game. So PC modifiers in this case would hurt it since there is a standard to compare it to.
Arcade is one frame worse than ps4 but you can adjust input lag on console/PC anyway (that's why at evo some of the Japanese players added a frame in the settings). I assume arcade sfv will be the same as ps4 though if that's still going to be a thing.
 
On-paper Buffs don't suit well with me, honestly. They never work out as well as you'd hope. Usually they go the other way.

Chun's 3-bar trigger is going to hurt her a lot, although combined with everything else she's still probably a Top 3 character.

This release did have QoL improvements, namely D-Input support, improved rage-quitting measures, and options customize the music you want to hear in different game modes. They might not be the QoL improvements you want the most, but they are QoL improvements nonetheless.

Furthermore, Ono recently acknowledged that their servers are not up to snuff, and promised improvements in the near future. If we are lucky, that'll include improvements to the lounge system:

On the one hand, it is nice to see them acknowledging that they've fucked up (repeatedly).

But on the other hand, it'd be nice if they could make fixing these things more of a priority. Or at least just communicate more openly about their plans.

Yeah I know, is good to have those at least but all I want is region filter for rooms, better loading times, social options ( voice chat mostly ) & a more streamlined/fast UI.
