Street Fighter V Season 2 Patch Notes Released (92 page PDF)

As a Vega/Urien main, I'm sad and happy at the same time.
I think I'm gonna put more time into Urien: it's nice, because was already doing that :)

All this talk of burying Alex. He's not dead, he's still good.

And he's not the only one who's gotten nerfs, pretty much everyone's long range pokes seem to have gotten nerfs. Even FANG and Birdie.

Matchmaking Update - Players who frequently disconnect during matches will now be more likely to be matched up with other players who exhibit similar behavior. The same applies for honorable players who rarely, if ever disconnect; they will be matched up with similar players.

LowTierGod am cry.

Wait what they nerfed Alex ? Is he getting Deejay treatment ? Capcom "balance" team is incredible if true...

No, it's just hyperbole. Alex got buffs. Nobody in this game got totally gutted. Even the character that got the most nerfs (Mika) still got new stuff.

This release did have QoL improvements, namely D-Input support, improved rage-quitting measures, and options customize the music you want to hear in different game modes. They might not be the QoL improvements you want the most, but they are QoL improvements nonetheless.

Furthermore, Ono recently acknowledged that their servers are not up to snuff, and promised improvements in the near future. If we are lucky, that'll include improvements to the lounge system:

Not taking the damn things down for 8hrs once every week or so would be a start. UK people won't even be able to play the damn patch tonight.

Interesting in trying Ibuki again as she has a few more buffs. Was a very fun character to use! I am still a scrub who struggled to go beyond bronze and finish all the trials.

Happy that they nerfed the annoying invisibility bounce with Mika.

That's reassuring.

Otherwise, only took nearly one year to implement losing points on disconnect, simple thing which would have prevented 95% of rage quitting from the get go. Baffling.

Meh, I'm not feeling these Birdie changes at all. Makes me far less enthusiastic to return to SFV. Wanted to go into S2 with him and Akuma but now I might not even bother with Akuma. Disappointing.

You can't bring logic to shitposting.

This.

Juri sounds dope.

The good players I know that play Mika think she's fine.

People see nerfs and bitch about them without thinking logically about the game. They just don't like nerfs. Same shit happened during the betas. If people here had their way, Ryu would have been near ST Akuma tier at launch because each time he got something taken away in the betas, people bitched about it and said they were ruining him.

But yeah, go play Xrd. Everybody bitching about SF should go play what they love instead of keeping SF5 on the front page complaining about it while every other fighting game thread aside from, like Tekken (those guys practice what I'm preaching), falls to the wayside.

People see a nerf and then instantly react to it without considering them in relation to either general changes or mechanic changes, or to the changes of other characters / relevant matchups. All of which are things that can't really be judged on a whim, and take at least a couple of months into the season to begin to get a feel for where everyone's at again.

Looking forward to trying out Mika, they nerfed her in some areas but also buffed her in others it seems.

Hopefully I can use her in peace now without people bitching every two seconds about how cheap she is -_-

Which areas are you thinking of where she got buffed? I guess the notable one would be her new Shooting Star TC (which is a cool name, too) and the related new juggle state of her j.MP.

I think a lot of characters got "nerfed in some areas and buffed in others," but Mika isn't really one of them. Her opposite would be someone like Balrog, who got buffed pretty much in all areas.

V-Skill - Mic Performance: You don't lose power up effect even if you get by opponent

Bitchin

There's this, but Mika literally needs to be at the opposite end of the screen to use it unless she feels like taking a 30% damage punish because it's still extremely slow and telegraphed. And in season 2, being that far away from the opponent is something Mika will absolutely not want to be against a lot of the cast (could work as a magnet for characters who need to go in, though).

Not convinced we'll be seeing it much more, but maybe it'll be a viable option after a landed Rainbow Typhoon.

- More advantage on hit for LP
- More advantage on hit for MP (and better forward hit box?)
- Standing HP damage increase
- More advantage on hit for cr. MK
- V-Skill (quicker armor frame activation, not losing throw damage buff after being hit)
- The stuff you mentioned
- Changes to other characters (stuff like people losing invincibility on DPs etc. will benefit her a lot)

She was a problem in v1, if she was left as is (or close to it) then she would have been an even a bigger problem in v2 with the changes other characters received.

- Changes to other characters (stuff like people losing invincibility on DPs etc. will benefit her a lot)

I think this is the main one out of those. It's just that there are very clear drawbacks in the same areas to most of the stuff you posted which other characters don't necessarily have for their buffs. st.LP is now 1 frame slower. st.MP has an increased hurtbox, making it a less effective footsie option. V-Skill's damage buff got worse.

Few straightforward buffs like Cammy's st.MP becoming +3 on block or something. She did get some, though, like the cr.MK one.

It might as well have been zero in v1.

Yeah, though this is at least a straight nerf to her stun combos.

If they made it just a slight bit faster, I could see it as being more viable, like Birdie eating in your face, surprising you in a way that you can't react fast enough. Maybe the armor buff is more substantial than I think.

We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out in practice.

Can't she use her mic to eat fireballs? Probably kinda dangerous to do I guess.

She can but her animation (at least in v1) for the v-skill was too damn long even if she armored through a move, using it was pretty much like putting a 'kick me' sign on her face.

Kinda dangerous is an understatement. It is not a fireball counter move because its startup and recovery are too long. Now with the damage preservation buff, opponents might tend to drop the zoning game and advance towards her when she absorbs one fireball. But, if they just want to throw fireballs from across the screen, Mika will stand in place, accumulating gray damage and potentially getting hit because of the recovery.

"Didn't get what I felt he needed"
"Isn't plus on everything, isn't doing dumb damage for dumb things, isn't 10-0 against everything"

Chris T already setting up his OS for next year it seems.

I'm still going to use alex

but going to try out boxer and continue playing urien, even if he doesn't interest me as much as he does as a sprite

Oh my GOD, he hasn't even used the final version of the character and he's already dropping him?
