Street Fighter X Mega Man is out

Wow, this is pretty awful even for a fan product. Judging from the rest of the posts, I'm guessing that the rest of the levels are as lackluster as Dhalsim's?

Viper's stage had its moments, but otherwise its pretty bare bones on the levels.

Okay. I guess it's cool that Capcom is sorta supporting Mega Man, sorta, but let's be real here GAF. The level design in this game is ASS. Just played through Chun Li and Blanka. Awful, awful design. Definitely obvious it's fan made.

Can't even play this because for some reason it runs incredibly slow on my computer (which is well above the minimum requirements).

Someone mentioned activate more than one of your cores for processing on this issue earlier as a fix.

Really wish Mega Man X Corrupted had been supported though since it has better level design or Mega Man Unlimited (Formerly known as megaman 10), but lets be honest about what this is. It was never something Capcom was investing any effort on. It seems more like a desperate bid from the Unity staff guys to try and convince Japan that there is still a major market for Mega Man and to stop trying to move on without him to change the face of their company after Inafune left.

This game is just meant to be a way to clock site hits to poll interest and thrust it at Capcom corporate to bid for Mega Man to comeback. Its not now nor was it ever at a professional level in terms of design. Its just meant to be fun and to show that even a small fan game can promote huge interest from players. On that level I think it succeeds.

The levels aren't terribly interesting, but the boss fights are clearly where most of the development time went, and they're pretty fun. Less pattern-based and more "here's a half-second warning now DODGE" than traditional Mega Man, but Vega's the only one who comes off feeling like a cheap bastard thanks to his massive hitbox.

Yeah I'll give the developer credit where it's due; The boss battles are fun. The rest of the game is pretty much trash tho, and a fantastic example of why I don't like fan games.

I freely admit it'd be nice if I could bind my gamepad properly. It doesn't appear to recognize the PS3 controller at all unless I tell MotionJoy to emulate a 360 pad... in which case I can't use the d-pad. :\

I said it before, and I'll say it again, if Capcom wants to support a fangame, then they need to hop on Megaman X: Corrupted. How can you go wrong with a game that has music like this? How?!

Yeah I agree this is what they should support. If they want to support a pretty well known fan guy the dude who made Mushroom Kingdom Fusion had a project called "Mega Man Untitled' in 2011 that looked to have a lot of promise.

Heres one of the stages he was working on still with the placeholder music

Really great stuff in that level.

I'll download and play later. shaowebb captures my thoughts well on the role of this game to Capcom. I have pretty low expectations right now.

Nice, I didn't think much of Crystal Rafflar's stage at first, but it grew on me fast. here are some of my favorites:

Gloomy Light Swamp
Hurricane Hoatzin
Sparkling Scorpio
(space for the Maverick battle theme, curse Dominic Ninmark for not uploading it)

I still wonder if this game is still alive. I haven't checked any place where JKB posts recently. Last I know of it he had to redo the game's programming or something and started a few months ago. No youtube channel or Facebook posts for a while though.

For those who have played/beaten it already, can you tell me if it supports passwords or save files? Also how long did it take you? I'm at a point in my life where I need to schedule out gaming time and wouldn't want to fire this up if I only have 30 min to play but can only be beaten in 1 sitting

anyone know how I can get the dpad to work on my 360 controller? I always use my dpad for platformers. The joystick is just strange for me to use like that.

It is nasty to use a stick for a platformer. I hate to say it, but over the years, I have gotten used to it for games like Super Meat Boy. Other games I find myself naturally going to the sticks and have to slap myself out of it and go to the d-pad and remind myself of how much better it is to use a working d-pad.

I played all of Megaman 9 and 10 on the 360 d-pad and since the game doesn't trigger diagonals, it's perfectly fine. I had zero of the issues that I normaly do with the 360 d-pad. Otherwise I have the Street Fighter IV fight pads.

So, my thoughts?

It's...ok, to say the least. But as a Megaman game or even fan-made/doujin Megaman game, it's nothing special. The likes of Rokkochan, Rosenkreutzstilite and MegaMari shit all over this game.

The boss battles are pretty fun in this and you can tell thats where the work went. I think the dev did a pretty decent job of capturing the feel of each characters special moves and ultras.

My god, this is not a good game in no way apart from the boss battles. Dickish enemy placement, even dickisher jumps, and I don't know, Megaman feels different to teh NES games, as if he is faster/ has less control over the jumping.

Only managed to kill one boss, Blanka, and for the life of me I couldn't Figure out out to use the weapon, it just spawned a watermelon, but I coukldnt kick it either way. The only easy-ish level were Chun and Dhalsim.

Not gona try aagin really, not to mention no D-Pad support.

This game isn't very good to me. Boss battles are fun to see what they did with the source atleast.

Why do all the megaman threads become whinefests or wishful boner draming?

Im looking for impressions and i only get "omg it's ok but if they had made this other game instead *posts youtube videos*

Bad capcom!

** c'mon people, discuss the game, the here, not the there

Nice, almost forgot this. Downloading now, and hope I can find my old Logitech controller without analog sticks to play this.

I'm downloading it now. It's taking a long time to download. I liked what I saw from the trailer. I'm looking forward in shooting a hadoken using Mega Man.

is anyone having issues with jumping and charging? im getting fucked up on that. and the controls dont seem as precise either.

Sadly, the game is a buggy mess on Mac using WINE.
Graphical glitches, no sound and it seems that gamepad doesn't work.
Other than that, the game is playable.

After 4-5 continues on Vega I gave up... Winning against him seems to be all luck since half of his attacks are unavoidable.

I'll replay later, this time saving an E-tank for him. Speaking of e-tanks... why the hell does every level seem to have one... on occasion. I saw one in most levels, but even if I never got them and had to redo a level I ended up not seeing it again. Othertime I hadn't seen one then suddenly one would magically appear.

So yeah, if this had truly only been a fan game, I'd have given them a 7/10... as an "official" Capcom product, 3/10.

Yes, it seems like if you have more than 1 or 2 buttons pressed at the same time kinda freaks out.

I noticed this as well... cost me a few hits on vega. Specifically, if you shoot then jump it HAS to make you shoot again if you're climbing. This doubley makes Vega hard since you have to climb to avoid some of his attacks... so it freezes you in place for about 2 seconds.

So erm...I think this is bad design.

I've only put in like one minute or less into the game but felt I should state this.

To elaborate more as the screenshot doesn't really show, these things fire wave shots that have tall range and are really fast. Due to the shields, and the height of the waves hitbox, you can only really shoot them when they fire and they do a lot of damage and they both fire at the same time so..yeah.

Just use a charge attack. It seems to go right through their shields. You can easily kill both at once with just one charged up shot when they're standing still.
