Stuff your face with Cheesy Gorditas to win Vitas

When you guys are thinking about this every 15 minutes stuff, are you taking into account the other two ways of winning, the Battle and Boast? Do we know for sure if it takes those into account?

I'm just thinking that maybe with those two (are the winners from the Battle even included in the counter? I haven't used that part yet so I dunno how it works.) it'll just average out to a Vita every 15 minutes rather than literally one every 15 minute period. I don't see how they would integrate the Boast part into that counter anyways so it would make sense if there wasn't a winner every 15 minute period.

at one point it was ticking a winner for every 15 minute period.

Most important part right there.

I just figure the codes have to do with like 90% of the winners (which is why you still get a winner ~15 minutes, for the most part) and the Boast and Battle probably make up that other 10%, explaining why it isn't exactly every 15 minutes. Seems like the simplest explanation to me.

I just put one of my codes in and lost, then played the dojo for a while and lost there too. O well. I'll try putting in my 2nd and last code attempt at 4am or something

I think it is the app every time I see anyone say something about winning on it they always say something about not being able to enter their info afterwards

Has ANYONE gotten the prize yet? I was thinking, since it has a 4gb card, and Little Deviants, and it's coming early... maybe it's actually the First Edition Bundle and they just didn't list the rest of the contents? I sure hope so because I really want that limited edition case.

I did a google search and the Gamespot and Gamefaqs forums came up with people copying and pasting winning email messages there. Seems a lot of people there won, but who knows with those forums...

I've been looking around and I've yet to hear of somebody receiving their Vita. The uncertainty is killing me lol.

The only vague mention of a timeframe was the PS Blog saying "winners will start receiving their devices after the 8th." I wouldn't be surprised if it winds up being a couple weeks.

Not only was my 5 buck box $6, it came in a bag. New York sucks.

In boroughs other than Manhattan, it might be cheaper. My friends would routinely go to The Bronx just to get fast food for that very reason.

Since my college is in BX, I might try a Taco Bell there once.

You should always ask if they have boxes, though.

Mine came in a bag too and didn't even come with a cheesy gordita crunch. I'm guessing the Taco Bell I went to wasn't even participating in this, which is stupid for them since I live in a college town.

I don't know the source, but this was posted on cheapassgamer and slickdeals regarding winning Vita shipments:

As for information about the system you won, these winning systems will be shipped out to winners in three batches: February 8th, March 11th, and April 2nd. You should expect you PS Vita™ in one of these shipments. You should receive a notification letter, as these will sent via First Class Mail to the prize winners. Unfortunately, I have provided you with the extent of the information that we have here about the promotion. If you would like more details, confirmation, etc; you will need to contact Taco Bell, and they will be able to provide further details.

Wow, not even worth it. I'd buy a Vita at launch anyway and then sell the free one or give it to a good friend/family member.

It's not worth waiting until the middle of March to get $400 worth of stuff for free? We can't all just go out and buy Vitas at launch you know. It's totally worth it.

Not for anyone who's got Vita Fever and was planning on picking one up but wanted to try their luck first. I should've mentioned who it would suck for.

Kotaku just posted a story about this contest, that something weird is going on

Fucking corporations. I'm dealing with a shit hole operation myself at the moment (stole 465 bucks from me) and it's enough to make you wish they'd all burn to the ground.

People gaming the system (possibly even trying to get multiple prizes), and therefore keeping others from having a fair chance (who are paying to play this game, mind you) isn't something that should be tolerated by Taco Bell or any of us who played legitimately.

Pitchforks are starting to raise.

A couple people in the Facebook group just got notified out of the blue that they are no longer winners. This could get ugly.

And rightfully so if they're legitimate winners, which they probably are. I was thinking of playing again, but I guess I won't now.

If someone gets screwed by Taco Bell saying they're a winner, and then Taco Bell saying, "No. The computer made a mistake. That confirmation you got isn't valid." People have a right to expose this. For Taco Bell to say it's a criminal and civil violation to exercise free speech and expose this is flat out outrageous.

EDIT: Rereading it I suppose they could be implying it's criminal to game the system, but sending ambiguous e-mails that could be interpreted as STFU is still kind of slimely.

And don't mind me. I'm just pissed off from repeated phone calls with incompetents and liars. I'm in a very foul mood because I've been dealing with a company all week and today was just an escalation of the bullshit.

That statement was a warning about the alleged cheating, not a warning not to talk about the contest. Taco Bell can't (and wouldn't be stupid enough to) try to intimidate people into shutting up about the contest. It's a legal and PR disaster no matter how you look at it.

This is ridiculous.

Yeah, exactly. If I get one of those letters, I'm going to be furious. I won legitimately and got so excited.. now I'm probably going to have to buy one. You should be fine to play now though. People winning in February are getting their confirmation emails no problem.

Wow, that's awful. I remember when I first read through this thread, it seemed like most of the winners were from the 30th. Hope no one here gets screwed. I don't know how they can tell if people are gaming the system, maybe they checked to see if the same IP or similar email addresses (I have several with "abrack" in them) were submitting codes in the same day.

I have a feeling they just had a mass system error and now are trying to cover it up. They don't even answer people asking questions about their vita anymore on the facebook page, just delete or hide them.

We all love a good PR nightmare. If this becomes bigger news than just something talked about in a small Facebook group, NeoGAF, or Kotaku, it seems like the only way they can save face is to make sure everyone in the group gets a Vita, unless they can PROVE that the ones who don't were somehow gaming the system.

I hope they don't consider studying the timer for the best time to put in a code gaming the system.

I just walked two miles in drizzling rain to Taco Bell to buy one of these boxes. I was also hungry, so whatevz.

In order to maximize my chances, I did a random act of kindness on the way home. Some homeless lady was at a bus stop on my way home and I gave her the taco and burrito that was in the box because I honestly wasn't hungry. It was nice to see the lady so happy.

Here's to hoping the karma carries over! Although I know thats an entirely selfish way to view karma....

Gonna wait till like 4 AM and start camping the number of unlocks. Here's to luck!

Yeah, they may have had a problem that caused a bunch of false positives. It's actually a tough situation for them if true. What if it told 10,000 people that day they won? What if there's no way to track who actually got the notice they won? Do you only make good to the people who thought to document their "wins" with screenshots? What if the errors were actually cause by a malicious attempt to compromise the system?

So were you... or weren't you?

well in the rules I believe it states if they give out too many on accident they are supposed to have a drawing of the winners or something in which case they should stop sending the vitas out until the end of the contest.
