IT'S OUT!

It's kinda underwhelming
just like the show har har
, expected more out of the full ED.

Where's the full Penguin version of rock over Japan?

YuruYuri 09

Slower-paced episode this time around. It's amazing that there's a character less notable than Akari. I thought the teacher was a student wearing a labcoat at first.

Anyway. Should I watch Madoka Magica? I hear it was the big thing of last season for some reason and I haven't watched any magical girl shows since Heartcatch Pretty Cure.

I've actually seen that chiptune cover. It's awesome, but I think I was more impressed by the amount of polish put into the vid. lol.

Yup Madoka is good stuff, definitely worth watching.

Watch up to episode 3 and see if you still want to watch more. I personally dropped it around episode 5.

Wow, they put six remixes on the single? That's got to be a new record for an anime song.

Also, I like this unofficial remix someone made from the TV size a few weeks ago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrNEaF4PyBw

Only two of them care to actually push the boundaries though. That one I posted just a bit ago, and [This almost incredible one.] The others sound like the exact same track, but leveled differently.

E: make that three. looks like I hadn't heard one.

I think Anno just needs to get away from Evangelion. Khara should be in a really good position to do whatever they want when Rebuild is over, so I'm looking forward to whatever they decide to do next.

Probably not, though there's certainly parts of Eva towards the end which are rather unbearable in their pretentiousness. At the same time there's a large amount of good stuff.
Those were the best parts!

Sit back, make nothing, and collect money from Eva merchandising and licensing? :>

Hopefully not, some of his unmade show concepts sound really good. But if that's all he wants to do, at least Imaishi and Tsurumaki will be able to take advantage of Khara's success.

Yes, you should watch it all. It's only 12 eps.

Sounds like video game reviews these days. Finishing the game before you review it is neither necessary not required!
Well, the difference being I assume ANN at least finishes the movie they're watching instead of just calling it a day an hour in.

Look at all these characters that no one gives a shit about.
Isana was really cute. Probably the best part of Yumekui Merry.

Madoka's pretty decent.

Madoka isn't really a typical magical girl show. It's something that even non-fans might enjoy. Watch up to episode 3 and avoid spoilers at all costs.

It's alright, worth at least a watch.

Hideaki Anno is the George Lucas of the animu industry?
Anno hasn't done anything to retroactively hurt his previous works... yet.

Wandering Son 09:

lo lol lol
Omg.

You know, I really like this anime and I like its realistic tone, *but* it´s totally unrealistic in terms of people´s behavior. Everyone is waaaay too nice when it comes to finding out about a cross-dressing boy. Be it Nitori´s colleagues in class or his teachers. It *could* be a Japanese thing, but in the school I went to, everyone would laugh at and make fun of you if they found out about it, let alone if you came to school in girls´ clothing and wearing a wig. They certainly wouldn´t tell you "you´re really cute" and let it end at that.

It´s kinda sweet that this show attempts to present such an utopia where things are rather peaceful. But it certainly makes a weird topic even weirder.

Oh, and wow, didn´t realize that that one woman was a full-fledged transsexual. Another point that´s rather unrealistic. Meeting such special people everywhere in his environment, that Nitori :D

Anyways, looking forward to next episode.

Apparently, there's a lot of backstory in the manga that the anime doesn't cover but when taking the latter as its own, isolated thing it does seem like most everyone is just way too understanding of Nitorin.

It's still a pretty good show.

Kaiji 22
This fucking episode man. Visual analogies all over the place this week, easily one of my favorite episodes this season I think. What a cliffhanger too, come on Kaiji!

Alright, so after hearing all six remixes, my favorite is probably the WATCHMAN mix, followed by the URBAN DANCE mix that you liked. Everything else is varying degrees of worse than the vanilla song.

Until he comes to school dressed as a girl.

Yuru Yuri 9

A couple of explosions, some ghostly apparitions and nowhere near enough yuri. Kind of a letdown if you ask me.

Maybe he just didn't look cute enough.

La Fillette Révolutionnaire Utena 20: Probably the most fleshed-out duel so far.
I loved how Utena beat Wakaba not by using Anthy, but instead taking Saionji's sword on her. Ultimately it is Wakaba's unrequited feelings for Saionji what hurt her, and not Saionji's longing for Anthy. It's a reversal of what was shown by the Onion Prince in the previous episode, with a sad but poetically just outcome for Wakaba.

I didn't quite get the shadow skit this time. Fox girls and Bunny girls under the rain, what?

EDIT: All Dear Future remixes range from crap to decent.

Uta Pri - 9

Yeah, this episode was totally unnecessary or should I say the last 2 episodes were bad? Why not dedicate an episode to Ichinose like everyone else? It's such a mystery. Isn't he your most popular character Uta Pri? Actually, if they did a character specific episode, the last episode could have simply been a fun beach episode with the usual antics, and Episode 9 could have concluded the same way except better with the focus on Ichinose, even if it would have only been a mild improvement with how bad the character episodes have been on average in this series. Actually, this series is missing
more cats
.

Im@s 8

Now this is something I can really get into. What a fun episode.

If I weren't already firmly on team Fang girl I'd give serious thought to defecting to team Boy girl. He/she was so awesome in this.

My one complaint this time is that Shorthair McBigtits is stupid to the point of annoyance. It's nowhere near as bad as with Shybitch Von Manhater but it's there nonetheless.

So yeah, more episodes like this and less like what we were getting at first, please. Too bad it looks like we're getting a Tweedledum and Tweedledee episode next. I'm dreading it already.

I should rewatch it...especially since its on netflix, I could watch it at work and at home. Ive noticed I cant handle even looking at screens of the last episodes or even just gifs of it. Its so powerful. Enjoy.

I would be shocked if Itchy Nose was the most popular character. I would have thought Syo or Ittoki were. Ichinose has no personality.

Well, Manga Entertainment is a terribly incompetent company so it's probably their fault.

As for 2.0, it's like the George Lucas'd (well, visually. no stupid awful changes to the core film afaik) version of GITS:

Yes, the amazing & memorable opening sequence is replaced with CG. Barf.

Thankfully, Oshii is not completely insane like Lucas and lets the original movie out in proper releases rather than Laserdisc rips as an extra on DVD rereleases. Although, the US version of the GITS 2.0 Blu-ray came with a Laserdisc rip of the original movie as an extra, lol. But he didn't have anything to do with that.

I'm throwing up everywhere.

Does she have like, one tit?

It looks so close to the center of her chest which wouldn't leave room for another one.

They all lack personality.

La Fillette Révolutionnaire Utena 21: Keiko is a boring character and I don't know why they set up an episode on her.
Maybe because there's no one besides Nanami with actual ties to Touga, and we cannot have another duel versus Nanami! I would have liked that however. :(

Finally some explanations next episode!

Wandering Son 10:

Well, the people are now starting to act more realistic towards Nitori. But a serious wtf @ his dad. Talk about being "too laid back". I´m almost half-expecting his father to reveal to his son that he once wanted to be a girl himself, lol.

And I somehow feel really bad about Doi-kun. Surely, he gave off the aura of a bad guy, but his immediate reaction to Nitori telling him "I hate you" proves that judgement wrong. Maybe he´s also gay? Or maybe even stranger, he likes girl-Nitori? We´ll find out eventually, I guess.

Angel Beats is pretty crappy, albeit probably less painful than your average KEY crap.

I'm not familiar with Key mangas or shows so it should be an interesting experience.

I've started watching Simoun, BTW.

You won't find out about Doi anytime soon. He's still in a gray area in the manga.

Kaiji Ep 22

Bloody hell! Thsi is one series I should have just marathon it from start to finish. Thsi episode was very very tense and the cliffhanger just made me feel awful and wish next week would come sooner than later.

What an amazing Episdoe, both Ichijou and Kaiji can be screwed.

I find the drawn out nature of the show to be more of an annoyance than a means of tension building :/ If the bog arch isn't resolved in next week's episode, I'm going to be pretty ticked off...

Even at the end of the series I didn't know how I felt about Doi-kun

Azusa is in fact dumber than a bag of rocks, this is verifiable fact, but some people like that sort of thing. She checks a box.

Makoto is awesome in ways that it's hard to describe. So I'll just requote this from the previous thread:

I want Makoto to hold me in her arms and tell me that everything will be all right. Having Makoto’s firm arms around me would make me feel like a completely safe and content little girl. I want Makoto to get in a fight to defend my honor. I want Makoto to pick me up and carry me over the threshold. I wish to be Makoto’s wife. Makoto would treat me right. When I see Makoto, I feel like a maiden in love for the first time.

(I am male)

I wish I could say I wrote that myself, but I didn't. :|

The Futami twins are actually pretty funny, which you'll hopefully see soon enough. They have nicknames for everybody.

I don't know if I should be disappointed or furious right now. I ordered the Mushishi DVDs from Amazon, and I when I got them the first disk didn't work. It seemed to have some sort of film or something in spots on the back that I couldn't get off.

So I asked for a new copy, and now it has arrived fourteen days later. When I looked at the condition of the first disk, it looks spotless... and now my PS2 is telling me that it is Unable to read the disk. Goddammit.

I'm hoping it's not my PS2, though I'm beginning to think it is.

It has stretched itself far too thin. I'm not sure how it can resolve itself next episode either. What would they do with the extra three episodes if that's the case?

Dance In My Blood said:

Well, that´s assuming that Kaiji wins. If he loses, the remaining three episodes could be used for some kind of transition towards *something*.

Ending on a transition is just...not happening. Sometimes there can be a small setup with a glimmer of hope for a future continuation, but there is no way three episodes can be dedicated to setting up something new.

Obvious predictions but spoilering just in case.
The Bog will last a few more episodes. The next episode is titled "The Precarious Situation" or something along those lines. Not ending there. They've also set up that stupid win button that Ichijo will bust out to fill another episode or two just when Kaiji thinks he's on the verge of winning.
