No matter what he does, Sugata is like poetry in motion. He is so cool. Pretty awesome surfing skills. With his power being somewhat minimized in this new phase, Im guessing it is soon time for him to directly take part in action? Takuto's Emblem (ep 16) was rather fantastic. Definitely one of the top episodes of the anime if we ignore
the shrine maidens crucial mistake in falling for the trap, but at least it enabled us to see another ginga bishounen, the head, in action. Takuto's backstory was touching and intense when he got the powered up Tauburn
3rd phase is good
a few of my favorites in Vanishing Age are back, like Takeshi and Takeo
. Tau missile is the best attack.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 ep 4
tumblr_m87k3ey15l1qbxqfpo2_500.png

The plot seems to be quite balanced for the anime. The previous episodes focus on crossing a large distance across the solar system and highlighting the various defense mechanisms of the Space Battleship Yamato, was this episode pushed aside and set on giving adequate screentime to Kodai and other members on the ship. It was well done and filled with a bit of comedy such as his interactions with the female partner he was paired with, as well as for other members, their inquisitive nature into the food on the ship and the raw materials for it.

Plot wise, pretty heavy on the action and suspense. Critical engine failure and distress signal let to a nice mission.
Finding out it was Kodai's brother's ship was really emotional and the scenes there after when he made the connection with the gun and then the salute to the ship. Hopefully the same fate can be avoided on their Earth and on their mission.
.

Nice visuals and space battle choreography, works well with the visual style and music they have going on, and missile paths and explosions were cool.

Now for weeks waiting for the next episodes...

I'd been meaning to watch this for quite some time. I hadn't before mainly because I simply never had a chance to sit down and watch this and also because I was a bit turned off by the character designs a while back (yes a bit shallow but I like to think my 'tastes' have matured a little since then). The story is fairly simple: two orphaned friends struggling to survive in a city on the brink of corruption but it also attempts to convey quite a few themes such as innocence, friendship, corruption, new replacing the old, and most overtly touched upon: the relationship between light and dark (good and evil, so to speak).

To get it out of the way, this film is an absolute treat for the eyes. Nearly every scene has potential for a desktop background and the animation is stunning. The background art is the best I've seen since Ghost In The Shell. The attention to detail is just mind-boggling so much that I found it difficult at first to keep up with the dialogue since I was so enraptured by the artwork. The city of Treasure Town is so unique and detailed and most importantly it feels very alive. As the film goes through several seasons, you see the denizens going about their respective businesses and you see much of the extended cast deal with the struggles in living in such a place. It's not conveyed as the best place to live but for most of those people, it's their home. The character designs are pretty different than your 'traditional' animu designs but there's something fairly charming about them. They can be on the simplistic side but they also convey a good range of emotions. I can't say I loved or hated the character designs but I think it's just a matter of preference. In any case they don't detract from the film, at least in my opinion.

As for the overall story, I enjoyed it and thought it was pretty solid. The relationship between the two lead characters was pretty touching and the juxtaposition of their personalities (the hardened, street-wise Black and the endearingly innocent White) was interesting to watch. While the film kinda emphasizes the whole parallels of light/dark, good/evil, innocence/corruption from the start, I didn't feel like it shoved it in my face so much that it annoyed me. At least not until the end where the
Minotaur manifests. It wasn't badly done per say I just wish it introduced that whole thing a bit earlier (aside from random hints in the dialogue) instead of leaving it until the very end. The whole scene was a bit weird compared to the rest of the film but despite that, Black ends up being a very interesting character in his struggle to not only protect White but to not completely fall into corruption
. The rest of the main cast of characters were all pretty solid but I honestly thought that most of the scenes not showcasing Black and White weren't as great. I will say that one of the most powerful scenes in the whole movie was
Suzuki's death. Though he wasn't a prominent character in the film, that scene with his conversation with both Kimura and then later Black was a pretty emotional scene, imo.
Overall, I enjoyed the story though the end was a bit weak in comparison to the first half.

While the story probably isn't the films strongest point, I'd absolutely recommend the film simply for the background art porn and the excellent animation. It's an energetic film that can be pretty heartwarming at times. The character designs may put a few people off but the main duo are endearing and very entertaining to watch as the film progresses.

I haven't heard yuusha said this much since I watched GaoGaiGar!

I enjoyed the little bit of world explanation and I like the simplistic faces used on the incidental characters as well. It's hilarious how much of the political intrigue is television entertainment too. :lol I'm ready for it to get back to Furry Musou though.

Campione! 5

Much of the episode was tough to endure, antics with Godou trying to get or put the bra onto Erica-san was not really something I wanted to watch and then much of the episode seemed to go the harem build a romance plotline with really dull moments.

Salvatore doni was the bright spot in the episode. As Godou's best friend, hopefully he gets tons more screentime.

Lilliana a traitor is odd, considering she is in the OP and ED, curious why she defected

She didn't defect . She just isn't befriended yet ..Even as a campione, you have to earn your harem you know ..
But things will become clearer in the next episode

Oh what the flying fuck, Chiyu. There better be a goddamned good explanation for this. It looks like next episode will focus on Kuroyukihime though, so maybe they'll take a break from this fight. Ugh...

Anyway, this was a pretty great episode despite the ending.

I know people are down on Nomi, but I'm really liking this arc. It's structured like a mini-shounen arc and the guy feels like the first real villain for Haru. The being up against impossible odds, the satisfaction from the villain realizing the protagonist's been training, the well thought out and well choreographed fight utilizing perfectly viable strategies without feeling like an asspull, the brolust; it's all very enjoyable on a number of levels.

I agree with everything you say. I really enjoyed it. Plus Nomi is a really really big jerk which makes for a pretty big villain. Plus we get the feeling like he's a piece of a much larger puzzle.

Should have used the scene when it was Sky Raker and Haru! But this arc is great. I guess after sitting on the ending for a bit, I think its alright and kind of unique
totally had been thinking they were actually going to really defeat nomi and move on but with this new chiyu thing going in, I wonder what will happen next for haru and taku

Area no Kishi 29

Really dont have much to say about it. The new training regime was funny and the last 30 or so seconds was pretty good. I dont know where the anime will go now
if Kakeru is U-16 now and Araki, are we abandoning all of the ones in the high school team, or do they still play for a highschool and the other team?

No way. Kuroyukihime is easily the best female character in AW. The closest one to topping her is Sky Raker and even then she pales to her.
