Summer Lesson (Tekken team/Harada, UE4) - PS4 Morpheus killer app :)

Showing other cultures being gross doesn't somehow magically make this not gross. We're all gross together, I guess.

That's the point though, it's pretty much a pot meet kettle thing. Can't really try to show "moral cultural superiority" then proceed to mutilate someone in Mortal Kombat.

That's stuff is popular over there so let it cook *shrug*

I just noticed my avi isn't helping things....

What happens when the human brain experiences that much stimuli?

I have no idea.

Firstly, school girl themes are not a dominant part of any gaming or pornographic industry anywhere in the west. Yes you can view similar western stuff if you look for it, but you can also find scat porn if you are that way inclined.

Secondly "just 18" is still at least legal age.

Thirdly if E3 was filled with little girls in school uniforms id say the same thing. Its creepy and I dont understand why people try to defend it. Why do school girls feature in so much japanese media?

Eh. There I disagree. Maybe not as big part of pornographic industry here as in japan but still very big subgenre as you can find tons of videos from every major porn site and they are popular too. Also despite yes 18 is legal limit it still plays with the same idea '' just 18, almost like teen!'' so I just don't see the huge difference. Technically that Japanese school girl can also be 18 as you can be 18 and in high school. Also like some posters have pointed out it also really just weirds me how these games always raise huge outcries but then at the same time we get next massacre simulator and people don't even blink an eye. We really are used to kill things.

It already has... The birth rate percentage is the smallest out of any 1st world country and this is going to ensure 0 babies will ever be born in Japan ever again.

Hail our waifu overlords. They will destroy human civilizations, one senpai at a time.
No it's not. There are even western nations with lower birthrates not to mention other Asian neighbours of Japan.

The Birthday Skeleton
Showing this at a gaming conference/expo by one of the biggest players on the market to promote their future device (when VR should be the next revolution in gaming) is gross. But whatever sells I guess.

There is a difference between selling this kind of games on Vita or whatever platform and actively highlighting them.

When it comes to this type of game, are you playing the game or is the game making you play yourself?

Im a hypocrite because I find the sheer amount of media coming from japan with this theme worrying?

You had to pull out a music video from 1998 to attempt a rebuttal. Think about that for a moment.

It was an example among many others. You seem fixated on this point that because I posted a britney spears picture then that was the only thing that I could find when in reality it was just the first thing that came to mind.

Once again, if you're worried about the media then worry about it in your own backyard as well as halfway across the globe. Thus not being a hypocrite.

It seems like this is definitely the direction VR will head towards in Japan, atleast at first, and I guess it's a good thing that Sony doesn't seem hesitant to embrace it, but I'm still really disappointed how...crass it was.

It's one thing for some indie eroge developer or a hobbyist to make miku handjob apps for the Oculus Rift, but it's another thing entirely for a leading Japanese hardware developer to showcase their new consumer product with VR waifus. I guess it's good that Sony is fine with introducing a product to a specific demographic and not immediately expect mainstream appeal, but I wonder if this might be detrimental to how people see the technology.

Everyone likes school girls. We allow that sort of imagery in our videos. They allow it in their games.
I like the school girl thing. I think the danger with video games is that you can design characters that look questionably young and just say they're not underage. And then you can allow people to play out their fantasy of interacting with these questionably young looking girls. The fact that things are mainstream to such a degree is the worrying thing. I see a propensity for Japanese girls to act very cutesy and innocent(young, in other words), which is likely a result of this being what a lot of Japanese men find attractive. This does not happen in the west very much. We of course are not totally clean in all moral standings, but it seems to be far more deep rooted and extensive in Japan than it is here.

In terms of this demo in particular, its not bad. Its slightly pervy, but the girl does look reasonably 'of age', so whatever. But again, the fact that even a slightly pervy application can be demoed to the public with the face of Sony on it is telling in terms of how pervasive this sort of thing is versus in the west.

And lastly, I'm not saying Japan is messed up or anything. I'm just not entirely comfortable with this one aspect of it.

calm your horses, this is just gonna be a tech demo to be shown in TGS.
Tho I wouldn't mind it to go beyond that just for some lulz.

This is exactly the issue. Take Snatcher, in the Japanese version, the girls are younger. Nothing has changed, it's exactly the same graphics, they just aged them up so him sniffing her underwear is slightly less perverted with her being an adult.

Britney Spears was a specific age when she made that video, you can't just assign any age to her you please.

When I first watched it thought it was not so bad, then I realised she dropped a pen on the floor and now I understand the comments...

Weird was not expecting such a thing at a sony conference, took me by surprise.

Everyone's worst fear about VR confirmed.

This pretty much.

Dating simulators already freak me out and VR is only making it worse. If people already marry their DSs how will they react to something like this?

It's one thing to battle a dragon in VR and is other to pretend to have a girlfriend in the same environment.

If people are gonna let one mildly perverted game ruin their image on a piece of technology, then we are a sorry lot indeed. Though this type of game is not exactly my "thing", I'm kind of glad they are not shy to showcase products like these. It further solidifies the message that their platform is "for everyone", which I'm sure is something all console manufactures are trying to achieve.

Whoops. I equated their aging population to low birthrates, but that was false equivalence on my part. Their the only country with a shrinking younger demographic and an increasing older demographic.

My worst fear about VR is that it will be expensive, or unreliable to the point it slinks back into obscurity.

This? If people want it, then good luck to them and I hope it is good. I spend a lot of time posting on a gaming forum about all kinds of stuff so I'm not one to point fingers.

Targeting that all-important Japanese market, I see.

Also, the title thread misspelling makes me think the game is called "Summer Lesbian". :/

Well even that is mostly because Japan has almost zero immigration. European nations have improved their young/old balance trough massive immigration. Without immigration for example Germany would have had decreasing population since 1970s. Also in Asia South Korea will have even bigger demographic problems than Japan soon (they had way higher birthrate until late 80s but after that it has dipped to the lows that even Japan has never experienced). This is why I shake my head always when people talk that these ''waifu'' games are the reason for low birthrate in Japan. They really are not.
