For some reason the yes in this:

made me think of this:

I think Kyle Bosman would sync better with it:

How long until someone makes a solution for the Japanese elderly to live out their last days in VR?

It's...it's happening, isn't it? The future that cyberpunk nerds always wanted...it's almost here!

This is kinda disappointing because as Oculus' competitor, Sony had a lot of people's attention. But officially endorsing this seems incredibly immature and will no doubt reduce Morpheus in many people's minds to just games - and creepy ones at that.
What the hell do you mean, "just games"? Eff off with that attitude.

double standards

The same way that a school girl creates more outcry on NeoGaf than another genocide simulation.
More like...they just don't get it.

On topic, that looks great, if a little unsuited to delicate Western tastes, if this thread is anything to go by. Hey, it could have been Call Of Duty, so count yourselves fortunate.

So, just making sure...no one in the room will be able to see what's going on inside the Morpheus except for the one wearing the visor, right ?
Just curious....

The game will probably come bundled with this:

This game has the potential to be the start of a whole new level of creepiness. I mean, there are already people in Japan who prefer their Waifu to their wifes or real women in general, so picturing those poor souls sitting in their apartments all by themselves and with this shit on their heads... I just can't...

Good to see Namco and Team Iron Fist getting some good practice with UE4 for T7...hopefully all of Namco bandai's teams start using it, along with the tales team. UE4 is like the ultimate versatile engine right now, it could really help japanese developers who seem to struggle with anything past PS2 graphics

I don't know - explicit-sexualization of teens is very common-place in holywood "family" comedies, can it actually get "more" mainstream then that?

It seems like people aren't offended with the ideas of it at all - just that presentation needs to be formatted so it fits their acceptance criteria (eg. comedy teen sex is ok - cutesy titillation teen sex isn't).
I don't see that. I think teens in general dress fairly 'sexy' nowadays in general, so just having them dolled up a bit at times isn't necessarily out-of-line or anything. And its not necessarily 'acceptable', either. Often when its done in comedies or whatever, there is often a point of the uncomfortable nature of it in the story lines.

A video game that lets you interact with these 'sexualized teens' is in a different league, in my mind. Its very much pandering to the idea of having sex or sexual-natured confrontations with them. It is taking things a step beyond.

To be perfectly frank, I think there's quite a few hot 15-16 year old girls. I'm not going to lie and act like they aren't attractive to me at times. I imagine its fairly instinctual for guys to be attracted to younger girls. But there's a lot of instinctual things in our lives we learn to 'say no' to. There likely isn't a person on this earth in a relationship who hasn't fantasized about sleeping without someone other than their partner, which is again, probably an instinctual thing to desire, but we know its wrong and thus do no act on it and actively discourage it in society. I think this is something else that we aught to discourage. I'm not saying its going to lead to an outbreak of sexual assaults on children, but I think we should not pander to 'okaying' sexual encounters with young girls, even if its in a virtual world.

My worst fear about VR is that it will be expensive, or unreliable to the point it slinks back into obscurity.

This? If people want it, then good luck to them and I hope it is good. I spend a lot of time posting on a gaming forum about all kinds of stuff so I'm not one to point fingers.
I agree with this, for the most part. There's a lot of bigger things to worry about with VR. If anything, dating sims or sexually suggestive(or even not suggestive at all, but straight porn!) can help push VR. Is there the risk that it becomes a focal point of what VR is? Sure, but so long as there are a good amount of more 'wholesome' experiences on offer to make a counterpoint with, it shouldn't hurt anything.

Judging by some reactions here, Morpheus should join Vita on the "be aware if you want to buy it at second hand" list.

The only people in the world who could be offended by this are Western men, and even then it would just be a certain portion who are disturbed that it slipped through their cultural safety net.

Watching the conference live I thought for a moment that we would see tekken 7 when they showed Harada. Instead they showed this. I'm not even mad.

They could've done other non violent, more interesting things though. Like a fantasy theme park, or just a street in Japan that you could explore.
Those will come so relax. We already have some great stuff already lined up for morpheus. I can see what the video implies but it's Japan and its that quirky stuff they do.

Pretty sure that's not how you can win the Japanese audience. Social interaction with an AI character is even from a technolgy standpoint pretty big.

I'm refering to this whole setup reading like a very common hentai premise.

Pretty sure, even if SL ends as game it wouldn't include vitural sex. So it's pretty pointless to talk about that.

And every situation where a boy and girl are in the same room is a very common hentai/porn premise.

This looks beautiful. Doubt the final version will look that good though. How many projects are the Tekken team working on????

Yeah, I do not understand the obsession with underaged school girls either, but other regions can't exactly ridicule Japan with their obsession with gratuitous violence, gore, profanity and they also have their fair share of perversion as well.

You guys are hilarious. Attacking schoolgirl fetishization like its some weird gross shit when every porn star ever is "a teen". Same shit. These just come with cute uniforms.

Holyshit @ this game. Harada seems to be working on so many things now. I guess was the secret project he was gonna announce at EVO? lol.

Fucking perverted and borderline predatory in my view.

I will never understand Japans obsession with school girls.

Kind of this. I mean being able to perv on a school girl as a use for that tech is so, so wrong. It diminishes my faith in humanity somewhat, and perpetuates the myth of people that play games being socially inept. I don't like it one bit.

That's just not true, sorry.

You watch alot of porn? It's true man, they get different names and ages and roles for different movies/shows. Most often they depict someone alot younger than their actual age. It's just not japanese that likes teens, though I can agree that there are some weird ass japanese hentai out there, but on the other hand western people seem to be the ones obsessed with furries.

Anyways, I don't see how this is worse than some of the other things all ready out there. I do not particular care for it, but the graphics/animations are pretty good. Other than that I'm a big fan of VR in general so if this somehow makes it bigger in japan and thus VR in general more popular I'm all for it. I mean it's not like the director of Tekken is going to create a game where you have sexual intercourse with minors. Whatever this is it's probably pretty harmless.

At the end of the day, it's all just fantasy. So long as it doesn't influence you to do something harmful to other people in real life, I don't see any problem with indulging in these kind of things.
I myself am not too fond of this, just not my "thing". But I think there's nothing wrong with people who do.

This pretty much.

Dating simulators already freak me out and VR is only making it worse. If people already marry their DSs how will they react to something like this?

It's one thing to battle a dragon in VR and is other to pretend to have a girlfriend in the same environment.

I understand your concern, but for all intents and purposes those are the same thing.

So what is the premise of the game? I've seen the .GIFs but haven't actually watched the pre-conference.

Are you essentially trying to woo the girl, or are you trying to pass a test at the end, or what? They do go out of their way to show a female player interacting with the tutor(?), so I'm guessing the net objective isn't necessarily to seduce the other...?

What's interesting is that it's running on ue4 and looks this good. The next Tekken game will also be running on that engine. I hope the characters are as detailed as that girl.

It's kinda surprising Namco is the only ambitious Japanese publisher right now (supporting VR, PS4, UE4).

The rest of Japan should be making games like this. Oh well, more money for them.

It's not a game (yet?) It's just a tech demo done by the Tekken team about what can be done w/ the Morpheus. It just happens to be a very "marketable" tech demo.
