Probably, but it's still creepy and slightly off-putting seeing Sony endorse this on their stage.
I'm not entirely comfortable with it either, but its a 'culture thing' I'm told...

On the other hand, I do think its worth reminding people that VR isn't just about traditional gaming and has the power to create all sorts of experiences, and that includes fantasy role-playing like this. Its pervy, but I'm not ashamed to admit I'm interested in some of the more 'non family friendly' entertainment prospects of VR as well.

Might seem creepy, but this is definitely a good way to sell the product to the young adult (male) japanese audience, at least it'll spark their interest.

This is kinda disappointing because as Oculus' competitor, Sony had a lot of people's attention. But officially endorsing this seems incredibly immature and will no doubt reduce Morpheus in many people's minds to just games - and creepy ones at that.
Really? I think it's a pretty good move on Sony. Shows that they are accommodating to people's various tastes.

It's only pervy if all you can think of is doing dirty things when you're with a girl.

Yeah. Damn those dirty Japanese minds! We in west have a lot higher standards!

*goes to western porn torrent/streaming site*

*half of the titles have word ''teen'' or ''just 18'' in them*

Firstly, school girl themes are not a dominant part of any gaming or pornographic industry anywhere in the west. Yes you can view similar western stuff if you look for it, but you can also find scat porn if you are that way inclined.

Secondly "just 18" is still at least legal age.

Thirdly if E3 was filled with little girls in school uniforms id say the same thing. Its creepy and I dont understand why people try to defend it. Why do school girls feature in so much japanese media?

I...I...kind of want to see where this goes.

'Don't have a PS4, and this won't be the thing that makes me get one, but...I'm genuinely interested to see what this turns into.

Notice me Senpai.

Anyways, I don't know about you guys, but I'm looking forward to teaching this girl how to solve math problems! I hope the gameplay is deep, they've showed us the interaction with the student, but I'm more interested in how you actually teach her stuff.

YEAH! how dare a japanese comapny appeal to a japanese demographic.... they should makes games for me and my culture only!!

Hmmm. Cultural relativism can only go so far. If this game is nothing but a voyeuristic experiment it should then be criticised by being just that. Cultural idiosyncrasies are open for criticism in Japan, or in any other country/culture.

We all know there is only one ending in this game.

How come sex (if you can even call this at that) is such a taboo in NA but somehow totally OK with pervy music videos?
Shit like Anaconda got 19 million views in 24 hours.

Japan's gonna go crazy for that simulated innocence.
Morpheus will fly if this tech demo ends up being a pack in.

18 isn't the age of consent worldwide, and this "game" obviously is made for Japan.

Im british and the legal age is 16.

That does not make it any less creepy.

If a british dev made a game called "6th form girls" (school girls that are legal age) id still say the exact same thing. Infact my words would probably be stronger.

Yet here you are in a thread for a morpheus game projecting your insecurities on others. How does that work?

Exactly what am I insecure about?

There is vaild discussion to be had here why exactly these types of games are a thing.

Japanese birth rate will collapse

It already has... The birth rate percentage is the smallest out of any 1st world country and this is going to ensure 0 babies will ever be born in Japan ever again.

Look i dont get it either but i wont try and criticize something i dont understand... if that sexual theme is popular in japan and a lot of people enjoy it, let them...... if they take issue with it internally then they are in a better position to do so

Im more questioning why it appeals to them in the first place. I dont give a shit about morpheus and probably never will. Next.

same reason gluttony prevails in the west... or pornographic violence in most of our games..... they are indulgences

I guess it's up to me to fly to Japan... and try this app out.

Schoolgirl fetishes are in excess in Japan compared to the west, but it's still extremely popular in the west and almost every pornstar that doesn't look atleast 30 is considered "18" because that's what sells. So it's not exclusive to Japan at all.

I guess it's up to me to fly to Japan... and try this app out.

Showing other cultures being gross doesn't somehow magically make this not gross. We're all gross together, I guess.

uhhh,
pretty much most porn sites have their own 'schoolgirl' category so....

And?

If anything it shows how rare this type of thing is. And wasnt britney spears actually a school girl in this video?

You think the marketing people coincidentally made her look like that? Let's not pretend like the west is free of these things. Out of all the reasons this thing is wrong (objectification of women) you decide to go on this strange tangent of yours involving schoolgirls and the moral superiority of western culture.

Exactly what am I insecure about?

You assume everyone who could be interested in this game will go to the sexual fantasy you're repressing. You don't like that this game takes your mind there, and think it's out of line to think different. However, you're locked into your cultural pov. That won't be shared by others. The Britney Spears pic sums up the strange hypocrisy involved.

Everyone likes school girls. We allow that sort of imagery in our videos. They allow it in their games. Different strokes. Your moralizing is off topic anyway.

You say that as if it doesn't make it even worse, lol.

Yeah if you want to compare one dance routine in a music video to the amount of school girl themes in Japanese culture.

you can defend it all you want, but there is no way you can equate the sheer amount of media using the same theme.
