Which doesn't change the fact I think this looks like balls. The art, outside of the general look of Samus in her suit, just doesn't jump out to me.
I know R&D1 are part of the development, and I know Nintendo will be watching Team Ninja like a fucking hawk, but that does nothing to remove doubt.
I'm also not someone who needs Metroid to be 'isolated', or needs it to play like a 'classic' game. I'm all for expanding the franchise. I'm all for trying new genres and ideas. I love all things Metroid.
This, however, just looks like shit to me. I'm sure it's early on. I'm even sceptical as to how far the game is and whether or not the footage is an indication of how it really looks and plays. But, based on what I've seen so far, I could easily leave it.
Which, for a game in one of my favourite franchises, is very disappointing for me. The cutscenes look fucking retarded. The art looks leagues behind what Retro impressed with. The trailer was all over the place.
If R&D1 and Team Ninja want to throw out a new trailer or media blow-out in six months and knock my socks off then I'll gladly welcome it. But as is I'm not impressed nor interested.

Yeah, Stemage is the main guy, but he works with others. He has a temp(?) band together right now. Apparently they're recording an album and they're going to perform at PAX.OnPoint said:Pretty sure it's one dude, but hell yes they do.
agrajag said:Their Samus looks so much better than Retro's ugly Samus. Retro pretty much sucks at designing human people in general.
Lesath said:I'm going to assume you don't mean Samus in her suit, because Retro's designs, even in the original Prime, seem to be better quality than what I've seen in the trailer.
Their original Samus, before Nintendo decided to animufy it, wasn't half bad.

Their Samus wasn't too bad, though Retro is lacking in the human model department.agrajag said:Their Samus looks so much better than Retro's ugly Samus. Retro pretty much sucks at designing human people in general.

Honestly I thought the characters looked like something Team Ninja would make.

1. In depth analysis by Gametrailers
Analysis frame by frame
Voilà. Not sure if there are more, but I saw a written analysis somewhere.

To be fair, there is a seperate team working on the CG sequences, this project is quite ambitious with three teams involved.agrajag said:Their Samus looks so much better than Retro's ugly Samus. Retro pretty much sucks at designing human people in general.
Cygnus X-1 said:About the appearance of Samus at the end, there are two possibilities: or she is a clone of the original Samus or she is the Samus coming from the future (actually quite unlikely).
1up interview said:1UP: I noticed that at the end of the trailer there appeared to be another Samus. What role does she play?
YS: She's not actually a second Samus, but she's a very, very important character within the game.
SpacePirate Ridley said:Saw it, of some of the things I know more than them :lol
Come on, the first girl is clearly young Samus with the zero manga short haircut and the city is Daibis. And of course is Adam, they even confirmed it in the interview. Get your facts straight if you are going to analyse a trailer.
his?SpacePirate Ridley said:At least they saw little samus seing his mother get killed by Ridley's ray something i didnt notice the many times I saw the trailer.
Wow, I've totally overseen it isn't just "Team Ninja + Nintendo" but actually "Team Ninja x Nintendo"!lancubap said:There are around some analysis of the trailer. Of course there is no need to create a new thread for them; so I'll post them here.

Samus takes off 'her' helmet...then takes of his facemask! BAMScrow said:his?
the frame by frame thing also didn't pick up on the cloaked enemy during the scene where samus headlocks a lizard and shoots it in the mouth.

The only glimpse of little samus I see is shortly after (3 shortscenes after) adam
lancubap said:"You remember me?"
"No, not a clue."
Pretty amusing answer.Anyway, it seems nobody knows this guy.
Edit. Interesting the tentative release date. 3.25.2010.
