actually I don't remember you at all??

I think he is from Metroid Zero Mission manga. Not to sure right now as I read it time ago.

It's Adam from Fusion.

This is my number one announcement this E3. Full of win.

Nope.

Adam is the general at the start of the trailer.
Has the same design as the Zero mission manga, also says his famous line.
Any objections, lady?

I hope they delve into the Chozo mystery. There's still a ton we don't know about them. Not sure if TN can pull that off with grace though.

That remains me, how do you beat the last boss? I got up to it, but I can't beat. It sounds like you've already beaten Metroid: Other M, so how about sharing some tips with me?

Based on Team Ninja's pedigree and the content of the trailer, it seems fairly reasonable to conclude that this will be closer to a pure action game. I don't claim to know everything, and I could certainly be wrong.

Story-driven? I'd say Prime has tons of story, you just have the option of digesting it or not. To this day it remains one of my favorite elements of any game, ever. That said, I'm totally stoked for the reboot.

Well, this isn't quite what I was hoping for but this is probably the best thing I can hope for: no more crappy Retro games.

Time to use this fella one last time in commemoration of the return of something actually resembling Metroid (I hope):

At the end of the trailer, Samus without the power suit say to "another Samus in the power suit": I'm Samus Aran.

WTH does it mean? Two Samus?!?
AnOTHER Samus?

Fuck, crazy, this is one of the best announcements of the year!

I couldn't check anything out at work only bits through my iPhone.

Holy shit, a 3D Metroid game I finally might be able to play for more than a few hours. I have not been able to enjoy any Metroid games for the consoles. so this looks fucking GREAT!

Not only does the gameplay look great but it actually has some great production values (with voice acting!). I hope the next Zelda is along these lines in terms of presentation.

But Super Metroid was on consoles.

Im sure this is a Samus Chronicles.

It tells the Metroid Zero Mission manga. (read it because its awesome)
It retells Zero Mission and Super metroid
It tells what happened next.
It retells Fusion.
And its going to tell Metroid VI

I agree with this. The trailer heavily referenced many different time periods in the Metroid universe. Which, unfortunately, means that the game'll be divvied up and at least as linear as Corruption :(

Team Ninja and Nintendo for Metroid!!!!!

...I think I just hurt my wiener...

Time and space bending Metroidverse?

I hope we see a lot of Samus' back story. The destruction of her home colony, being raised by the Chozo, her early days with the Federation. It's always bugged me that these things are canon, and pretty important to Samus as a character and the series as a whole (I mean the stories to Metroid Prime and Zero Mission wouldn't make much sense if you didn't know all this), yet it's never actually been shown in any of the games, only kinda vaguely implied. The being raised by the Chozo part would be particularly interesting, seeing as how nearly every game in the series has huge references to the Chozo, yet we've never actually encountered one alive.

Though at the same time, I don't really know how they could keep the exploration-based gameplay while doing this. Maybe have a bunch of smaller maps at different periods of time?

Anyone else really happy that she has realistically sized boobs and not giant rachel tits? Even brawl was too much I thought.

Pardon me, sir but my list is the real one.
You only took out the mangas (that are cannon, Sakamoto wrote them) and separeted the prime saga. And the prime saga is all part of the same saga. PRIME.
The rest is the same, so I dont know what the fuck are you talking about.

An Metroid The Other M is clearly episodic. There are intros from de Zero Mission Manga, scenes from Zero Mission and Super metroid and some of the samus suits have the Fusion gun, also the ending with two samus shows clearly that the last chapter of this game is probably Metroid VI.
So sorry, buddy.
Not that it really matters, but yours isn't the 'real' one, you're only calling it as such.

The Metroid Prime Trilogy has never been labeled as Metroid V because it's a semi-prequel between Zero Mission and Metroid II.

Not every Metroid in the line actually needs a number if it wasn't given one, namely the Metroid Prime titles.

Metroid Fusion was officially labeled Metroid IV. It was the last Metroid game chronologically, which is why there has yet to be a Metroid V.

Er, the 'Any objections, lady?' guy is Adam, that's his key line from fusion.

edit: sorry, beaten by the first reply!

I need to watch the trailer again so I can work out what the hell is going on in the action parts :lol

Undecided if Want.

I liked Ninja Gaiden, 2 not so much....but them going to a 3d 3rd/1st person actioney Metroid, while using the Wii-mote....I will have to wait and see.

Where the fuck is Dread, damnit.

Possibly the ONLY game that I'm more amped for than either Mario announcement. And that's saying a lot. :lol

Took a while, but it looks Ninty finally has their own answer to the whole "Stylish Action" genre. And I would like to think that Samus and Team Ninja could stand to be a very nice pairing...

Oh, and I'm definitely looking forward to fighting ol' boy Ridley. I just hope he won't be alone... ^_^

But yeah...no more Prime! That makes me happy enough!

My god. Did you play Metroid 1-3? Back-story is not something the series is known for. In fact, just being dropped into the environment and figuring out the narrative through the embedded narrative is a key aspect of the Metroid series (see the Prime games as another example).

As long as the cut-scenes are very minimal and don't detract from the feeling of immersion (yes, cutscenes detract from immersion in my opinion).

I really wanted a True Metroid game, the prime trilogy was fun but not close as super metroid feeling. Lets see whet this turn out...

This trailer gives me a strong Super Metroid vibe. For some reason it looks like the artstyle in this came right out of the Super Metroid instruction manual. And it's 3rd person, right? Awesome. This looks better than what people were saying Metroid Dread was supposed to be. Those Animu cutscenes were pretty weird though.

It actually showed the last part of Super Metroid, you see the baby Metroid being blasted by Mother Brain. I'm guessing it takes place between Super and Fusion.

WTF are you talking about. Of course Metroid Prime is not V. The saga is cronologically the second game. Ive said in an above post that is was "V", but then I clearly stated that this was really II. Metroid Fusion was called IV, because it was released before Prime.
If Prime saga is II then Fusion is V (or VIII if you split the Metroid saga apart)

And yes, the one I posted is the official one.
This is not mario or Zelda timeline. This has been officially stated by Sakamoto.

And its also telling things form the Metroid manga, that is metroid Zero because it come before Metroid Zero Mission game.
Intro with Adam, Samus young hair cut, that black guy...

um, i don't think any of you understand the importance of Other M. before Metroid was a very low on story, heavy on atmosphere game. certainly some story is expressed through the game, but it's never really pressed on the player. this is a great opportunity to set a precedent for the character of Samus. even if it's not like a "traditional" Metroid game, it makes sense in context of how the game should play out. there is no "true Metroid" or any such bullshit, there's the universe of the Metroid franchise, and how it best plays out. for what seems to be a prequel that defines the character of Samus, it's definitely going to play differently.

I dunno, looks like some made up thing... not sure if its a metroid

Guy in the back looks nothing like a metroid, and I'm pretty sure they are both the same monster thing

Yeah now we'll get a story that seems to have all the intelligence and subtlety of Disaster: Day of Crisis by the looks of it.

I doubt they will develop it to the extent that Retro Studios has. I'm sure the main narrative will have some flashbacks to Samus' time with the Chozo, but it probably won't be as informative. I imagine the focus of the story will be about developing Samus.
