You're treating sexuality like it's a peg in a square hole. It's not. Sexuality is far more fluid than that. There are degrees of attraction and people will be attracted to what they are attracted to. With your statement you're assuming that any guy attracted to transexuals will like men and in extension, any guy who likes men will be attracted to transexuals, which is not true. I look at the ladies posted above and see them as women. Therefore, I don't find them attractive since I am only attracted to guys. The reproductive organ that they have or don't have is only a part of what makes a person a particular gender.

I really don't agree. I see people who like transexuals as sexually confused individuals. You have straight people and gay people which is normal, but then you have people who are sexually attracted to animals, children, or transexuals which is abnormal.

I think there's such a taboo on homosexuality in Thai culture that transsexuality has become an established way out for feminine men, otherwise I can't explain why Thailand has many more katoi (transsexuals) than other countries. It's the same in Brazil, another extremely macho, anti gay society with a surprisingly large transsexual community.

I don't think gay Brazilian/Thai guys consciously decide to "become women" to escape a societal stigma. It's just how those cultures are wired. If you're part of that culture, you don't fit in, your behavior is feminine instead of masculine and you're attracted to guys, you must be a woman and therefore need SRS to turn your life around. The choice of a homosexual lifestyle simply doesn't exist in that culture.

It does explain why so many Thai and Brasilian transsexuals look "genuine" compared to western transsexuals. A very large number of western transsexuals realize their gender conflict only later in life and have lived relatively normal male lives until then. Transsexuality in the west is often the result of a midlife crisis. J. Michael Bailey wrote "The Man Who Would Be Queen" about this subject. It's absolutely hated in the TS community but he may be onto something with some of his ideas.

You make excellent points about the high rates of transgenderism in overtly macho / anti-gay cultures. That makes a lot of sense.

I would argue that your assertion that "western transsexuals realize their gender conflict later in life" is incorrect. Most transgender people in my experience (including my own) are aware of the conflict between their bodies and their minds from a very young age. I think it is only once they reach either a certain level of confidence in themselves, or a state of depression so severe as to make transition their only option other than death, that they finally opt to transition. In the past, without a support network they could openly explore these issues with, and the general lack of knowledge among psychiatric practitioners, transgendered people often waited till later in life when they were financially and mentally more secure to transition. Now, thanks to the prevalence of internet support groups, people are gaining that confidence at a much younger age as they meet others who share their same feelings. The average age at which people are transitioning has lowered dramatically. I myself had sworn off transition for life fearing I'd be an outcast. But once I had formed a support group of individuals like myself I realized I wasn't as weird as I thought I was (at least, not for that reason ) and was finally able to move forward with my transition. And I am MUCH happier for it!!
