its a stalemate basically , and thanos was inspired by the new god metron, then was beefed up to darkseids proportions.
Thanos is a new god like being. I think he is more resilient than a green lantern shield. Supes may be fast, but I doubt thanos would bother trying to avoid it.

Anti-Life Equation is just a bit of knowledge though, not a physical weapon.
In the end, thanos was embraced by a universe of beings that couldn't die. The anti life equation means nothing to him. And the omega beams as well. The omega sanction would be a major fucking bad move for darkseid. Realities that keep getting worse? He'll come back from that amused and willing to share the fun he experienced with darkseid.

I prefer DC heroes to Marvel ones as a fan since a lot of Marvel isn't very established as individuals so much as just sources of conflicts with other cast.
That said I'm going against DC though and agreeing with Parallax. Thanos would win. Even with end game stuff because infinity gauntlet and cosmic cube still trump Darkseid's stuff...even the anti life equation. Since we are arguing a scenario without those trump card "end game" powers though its a moot point. This is how the whole thing sizes up power-wise between them without trump cards.

Now looking that over it would appear that Darkseid would win due to his Omega beams right? Look closely...they are described as being made of COSMIC ENERGY...the shit Thanos absorbs. If this comes down to a fist fight Thanos is on par with him in strength, strategy, intellect and durability. This can be proven by the fact that he could go toe to toe with guys in marvel who in cross overs held their own against the only guys listed to be able to hold their own with Darkseid in DC. However Darkseid isn't a trained fighter and Thanos is. Darkseid doesn't engage in fights directly often. Thanos DOES. No beams, no sanctions, no trump cards and a level playing field versus a more trained hand to hand combatant equals only one thing.
Thanos wins.

His Omega beams are just an extra. Read any comic where it shows his many feats.
He can literally decimate a planet with raw energy Him going all out with destructive energy & power would be something on a solar system scale.
He can telepathically control every single person on an entire planet. He has mastery of time travel with a flick of his wrist, he can reanimate the dead at a whim, he can teleport anywhere in the galaxy, he can speed blitz Superman.
He literally can't die (if his physical body somehow dies, he will just reincarnate in someone else body).
Any comic showing Superman somehow fighting a non-depleted/weakened Darkseid evenly is just bad writing. Darkseid is to Superman as Superman is to humans.

"absorbs cosmic power" and cosmic energy is the source of the Omega Effect. I mean Silver Surfer can pretty much shoot bullshit that creates and destroys based on the writer's fancy too, but it was cosmically powered so it didn't mean shit to Thanos when it hit him what it was originally supposed to do to Thanos. The moment it came in contact with him it just stopped working and just became "cosmic energy" that could be absorbed by Thanos.
His very nature dismantles the omega effect. I think he was written that way by Marvel to try and trump Darkseid in these very sorts of things. Its the kind of one upsmanship sort of thing characters like him tend to have written into them when they are made so a rival publishing company's character appears less impressive versus their own similar character.
I mean Darkseid appeared in DC in 1970 and a mere three years later in 1973 Thanos appeared in Marvel. Its pretty much his role to steal Darkseid's thunder on the comic racks in this way to keep competitive.
I stand by my statement regardless of why Thanos was made. He WOULD absorb the Omega effect because its cosmic energy. Doesn't matter what its supposed to do because his powers render that pointless. He'd absorb the beam as just cosmic energy.

If its the real deal darkseid, the omega effect wipes you from existence. No absorbtion, no blocking, no running away, no dodging, that is it. You are finished until darkseid says otherwise.

Anytime darkseid jobs, its an avatar with only a fraction of power. thats the rule guys, you can cite what ever losses you want, it wont matter. the only thing stopping him is death itself and superman's beautiful voice.
