The 3DS Lineup For 2012 is HUGE... Best Lineup for any system next year

Please tell me that Paper Mario game won't be a repeat of Super Paper Mario.

I was a big 3DS skeptic but it's turning out to have some fantastic games. That lineup is incredible. Should be a great console for JRPGs too.

Paper Mario on 3DS is indeed a new original RPG, like Paper Mario, and TTYD, and not a platformer.

A few too many bug-eyed anime cartoon games there, but it's still night and day better than 2011. Best for any system? Doubt it.

I'm looking forward to Kid Icarus the most. I'm really interested in seeing how it turned out after all this time and I just love on-rails shooters.

Ace Attorney vs Professor Layton is probably 2012. Same with Rune Factory 4. I wonder what is going on with that Ninja Gaiden game too.

Wow... that's a hell of a line up. Not to mention, Nintendo will definitely announce something at E3 for the holiday season. I need a 3DS.

Resident Evil, ToTA, Layton, and Paper Mario for sure; maybe Rayman, MGS3D, Time Travellers, and Beyond the Labyrinth (though I don't know if those latter two are confirmed for a US release); Fire Emblem for sure if it ever comes out over here.

Really wishing Nintendo's decision to region-lock their handhelds hadn't coincided with my learning Japanese. I will be in agony if Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney never makes it over here (and yes, I've seen the article, but I'd like a little more solid confirmation before calling it for sure.)

I played Luigis Mansion 2 at E3, it was lovely. Could really do with dual stick control though, but it sounds like it will support the Frankenstick add-on.

Need Paper Mario so badly, hope it's not end of 2012!

I'm glad someone had the good sense to mention Ace Attorney vs Professor Layton. It should have been #1 on the list in the OP.

Woah, that's quite a list! I'm just happy to be playing something - ANYTHING - on my 3DS right now that isn't an N64 remake (SM3DL).

BEYOND THE LABYRINTH

Angle, pose, etc. kinda look like the same game reskinned!

From that list 5 games are especially interesting, including Bravely Default and Fire Emblem. The question is if these two games will get a European release.

Classic 2D Metroid on a 3D enabled system? Sounds amazing - hoping for a pseudo-3D-but with classic gameplay. But we all know that's never going to happen.
Thanks Nintendo.

*crosses fingers*

I'm actually looking for to Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy. Probably a first for me when it comes to FF. DS really got me into quirky rhythm games on a portable.

New system has a big lineup of games the year after release while all of the other systems are at the end of their life cycle.

well actual lineup definitely failed to live up to the title of this topic, that's for damn sure.

I still definitely want Paper Mario, Bravely Default (probably), Resident Evil Revelations, Fire Emblem and MAYBE Kid Icarus, if the flight segments are enough to make up for the mediocre on foot segments. Oh and Beyond the Labyrinth, dungeon crawling ftw.

Other than that, sequel to the worst franchise of all time Animal Crossing, sequel to the mediocre crown king Luigi's Mansion (skill-less hide-and-seek borefest that lasts about 2 hours, pass), mediocre port of Metal Gear Solid 3, Time Travelers superior on Vita, Rayman Origins I already own, Heroes of Ruin looks ugh-tastic, Tales of the Abyss is a port of an old PS2 title, I'm tired of the Professor Layton 99 cents puzzle formula, and KH can go shove it at this point.

Kind of a meh lineup all around, certainly not the best of any system next year. We'll see what gets announced at E3, you know how Nintendo loves to announce things last minute.

3DS has no gamez.

Btw. Layton V is confirmed for 2012 in Europe .

I'm definitely getting a 3DS this year, and am excited for a lot of games on that list, but it seems like a very niche list. There's not a lot of mainstream offerings on there outside of some solid Nintendo stuff. I'm not claiming doom and gloom at all, but it just seems that the OP is being generous in calling it the best line up for any system.

Handhelds have had 2 straight years of real mediocre showings, so its great to see it resurge on both systems for 2012. Consoles won't have it quite as well next year compared to 2011, which makes it look even better.

Don't bank on Kingdom Hearts though, Square always waits until everyone forgets about their game before they launch it.

I don't know, I think I would rather play a bunch of the launch PS Vita games than most of these. The only ones that really interest me are MGS3 and Mario Kart, and I could just play the HD remake of MGS on the PS3.

That's a great line-up and the only problem I have at the moment is should I buy a wii or 3DS?
What puts me off 3DS id the fact you have to look straight at it for the 3D to work but congrats to nintendo for trying it but I can't help but feel that a DS with the specs of vita mixed with the nintendo franchises would have been a far better handheld console.
