The 4th Democratic Primary Debate

Overall, yeah. This was a shitty debate. Just blah. But it's just reconvinced me that I love all these candidates, and would happily vote for any one of them.

My primary vote is still probably going to Bernie, though.

All three did what they needed to do. Nothing all that shocking, here.

Everybody knows Hillary's got it. Including most Bernie supporters. However, they're voting for Bernie to make a statement to the DNC. Namely, "Enough of this center-right shit already. Let's embrace the progressivism that most of the Democratic Party believes in."

I've read this a few times in this thread and I have no clue what you're talking about. Every Bernie support I know fully expects him to win.

No, Lester Holt asked them if they want to talk about anything else that was not covered in the questions. A closing statement is your final pitch. Especially this being the last debate before Iowa.

I get the feeling that Hillary didn't understand that. Which is okay, because neither did I.

Poor O'Malley. Not his night.

He can talk about my backdoor all he wants, though.

There was a legit poll not too long ago (PPP?) which asked Bernie supporters who they thought would win. Most said Hillary.

EDIT: And I'm one of them. If he wins, great. But it'd take a miracle. I'm more for a political/economic revolution than 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

I'm a Bernie supporter, not because I expect him to win, and not to send a message to the DNC. I'm voting for him in the primaries because his ideals are closer to mine than Clinton's. I fully expect him to lose to her in the mid to late primary season, depending on how well she campaigns.

We only feel bad for O'Malley because he's there on stage looking like a kid at the adults table. But does anyone feel bad that he's not able to attract supporters, that he chose to run in this election against Hillary and Bernie thinking he could carve out space for himself? If he's running for VP good luck but I see no reason either Hillary or Bernie should pick him.

I got to watch this with my boyfriend tonight and we had some very enlightening conversations throughout this debate. If anything, it encouraged both of us to set up our registration after both of us leaving our old addresses and preparing for the primaries and the general election.

Go to rockthevote.com if this has happened to you, you have to update your living address if you want to vote.
Good for you! Don't forget to read up a bit about your local candidates/elections too.

They only let Hillary talk , a little bernie and no omalley. Moderated poorly

There was a timer being kept that was posted a few times in this thread, Hillary and Bernie got what is basically equal time. Only O'Malley gets to complain about not getting enough time to speak.

Which is what I love about MMP. If Bernie had his own party it could force Hillary to work with them.

Yup. And I fully expect to vote for Hillary in the general. But Bernie's still my preference.

Same here besada.

Also, as others have mentioned, I support Bernie to destigmatize the term 'socialist' because when automation becomes a reality and displaces millions of jobs from the transportation industry, this country is going to need a Bernie 2.0.

Shouts to O'Malley for at least mentioning the problems in Puerto Rico.

Yeah. No mention of that from either Bernie or Clinton is super sad but I guess it, unfortunately, doesn't matter to most folks voting in this election. =/

bernie did very well. clinton held her own, though.

i was interested in hearing what they had to say but it was largely the same stuff.

How would they catch Sanders in the many terrible and loaded questions effectively if they didn't ask several of him and give him a good bit of time to generally respond?

Lowlights.
Hillary: "President Obama. President Obama? President Obama."
Bernie: "Things I haven't talked about... Have I mentioned Super PACs? Super PACs."
O'Malley: "..."

Highlights.
Hillary bringing up Flint.
Bernie handing some awful questions.
O'Malley talking about coming in backdoors.

that's exactly why we need him now, not enough people see that

it's really tragic

First decade I've seen this cycle because if the god awful times they've had them, and I have to say I really liked O'Malley. Hope he gets VP or Secretary of energy.

I only caught the last hour, but I think Clinton killed it. Deeper, more specific issues and details than the others. Bernie had the highest ideals but not that much substantial details about them.

As an increasing number of Puerto Ricans emmigrate out of PR to the mainland, it's an issue that's going to have to be at the front of their lips when attempting to appeal to the HIspanic demographic at large. It's something that I think will be a bigger deal (maybe not a much bigger deal) going towards the general.

They do follow a narrative. The whole: "how are you going to pay for something that every other advanced developed country already does" is tiring after the 100th time.

Meanwhile, how Trump is going to get Mexico to pay for the wall is just a given. They're republican -- we can't expect too much from them.

Watch the first hour.

Bernie definitely did the best but I don't think this will change things all that much.

I think he was pretty detailed with the healthcare questions and addressing where the funds come from, makes sense that since you're no longer paying healthcare fees the tax increase won't be very bad
