The Boys - Final Season Teaser Trailer

The problem with Homelander is that he was too competent in the season 1 and became popular so the writers had to dumb him down. It is basically the same situation as Woker 2.

Certainly would be tedious to have to have the mains keep to the elaborate precautions.

Would have been far better to neuter Homelander in some way, some lingering battle injury or something, inflicted by Stormfront perhaps, once his emotional limiter was removed when he killed Elizabeth Shue. They never really gave Homelander a satisfying (IMHO) reason to hold himself back after that and it's increasingly silly that he is simultaneously a global threat but also unable to round up 5-6 borderline incompetents at will.

Stop buying into manufactured outrage. The latest season is reasonably fine in an objective sense.

On topic, well, kinda, I went ahead and went through some of the books again, as I've got the whole series but haven't glanced at em in ages.

I don't think I've seen a less faithful adaptation of a comic book. That's kind of impressive in its own right I guess..... what a dubious honor.

I love my boy Adam but sometimes he drops nuggets too good to pass up.

I have no familiarity with the source material so I had no expectations. All I know is Antony Starr performance makes that show. When he's on screen it's a 10/10. When it's the side characters it's a 2/10.

Should have let homelander win in the end. Go all the way and make it memorable. He's charismatic enough to make it work but I understand why the writers are too chickenshit to do it.

Oh well. I'll definitely be tuning into the finale to form my own opinion on it.

Now they're giving Soldier Boy his own show, who at best is a nazi sympathiser, if not a straight up nazi himself.

Unless they're planning on retconning/ignoring Stormfronts background in season two.

They will totally change his personality/background and rely on the audience to have the memory of a goldfish.

I just don't see how her being a nazi gets ignored; might as well be a different character if they do that. Soldier Boy being in love with Clara came out of nowhere this season.

I can't all the way complain because they're both excellent characters, but their relationship seems weird.

I think they did not expect the Soldier Boy to become that popular. Jensen Ackles has turned out to be just too good. Even with their attempts to put him into a freezer every season.

Also being a "nazi sympathiser" huge reach there.

I'm fairly sure Soldier Boy wasn't aware that Stormfront (who went by Liberty in the 50's) was a Nazi.

Jesus Fucking Christ. Shock and Awe. Blood and Bone. Taking out the nerve centers, Whitehouse? Pentagon?.
No no no let me struggle with a shitty tentacle arm. I am not even mad anymore this shit was hilariously bad.

Also, How weak is the homelander eyelaser? Butcher dies from a gun would so weaker than a bullet I guess. (oh I think he wasn't a supe after the kimiko blast) And useless Starlight, lets fight a god of the seven seas near the fucking sea lol. The writers atleast should have the balls to release the T-virus and infect everyone as the ending. Far future season could have been World War Super-Z version with zombie supes and weird mutants alongwith semi-modern Walking Dead. Go all in if this is the shitty ending they chose.

I think this was purposefully phoned in with budget diverted. I still have faith in the Vought Rising show and the writers.

Probably the most embarrassing finale I've ever seen. There is absolutely nothing to salvage here. Seriously, where did the budget even go? Everything looks pathetic.

Special mention to poor Chase (Deep), who spent five seasons stuck with a completely pointless character until the very end. If I were him, I'd sue the writers.

And to think I believed the dialogue couldn't possibly get worse than in the previous episodes…

And the dumbest part is probably that "live from the Oval Office" sequence. Stuff like that would obviously never be broadcast live, everything would be pre-recorded beforehand. And of course the camera just magically happens to be at the perfect angle to capture everything… completely ridiculous.

It's a shame Homelander never did anything other than talk. All that build-up of him going nuclear for five seasons, and nothing... Even the god thing they focused on was only introduced this season.

showrunner was obsessed with trump. All the plot about butcher and his tentacles was stupid and went no where.

Comic is edgy but the main plot and charscters were done right.

What was with the Maeve tease at the beginning? It feels like they had big plans but most of it was cut? Homelanders biggest fight scene was on Gen Z.

Why did Ryan end up with MM? They don't even know each other.

They wrote everything so poorly I don't know where to start.

Finale was underwhelming, but not terrible.

That scene with Homelander and the not-so-subtle Elon Musk billionaire stand in with the dark Homelander hat who says he loves space and is concerned about white birth rates is exactly why this show has gone to shit in the last few seasons imo. Its another pointless scene that does more harm than good. It contributes nothing to the story and is only there so the left-leaning writers' room can jerk themselves off, all while making Homelander look like a fucking tool since the scene reminds people how Homelander can fly into space in 2 seconds but for some reason is unable to do it to escape Kimiko's blast later in the same episode. And don't try me with the "Homelander was being kept in place by Butcher and Ryan" excuse. Homelander was able to escape Butcher, SoldierBoy and Hughie in a similar situation in season 3.

Homelander begging for his life was satisfying to watch. Antony Starr is an amazing talent.

Overall, a great show that probably should've ended two seasons ago.

Wow. What the fuck is this

All this hoo haa about V1 all season near enough and Homelander is still laughably weak against Butcher, Ryan & Kimiko.

All the threats of him going to kill millions of people and doesn't happen

Another dogshit final season, another dogshit finale.

Good god the mediocrity of the ending, it's funny that they were adamant about keeping the crowbar death from the comic even though it's not Homelander that dies that way.

That was probably about as decently as they could have ended the show.

Watching Homelander beg and whine was probably the ultimate payoff for his god-hood claims. And there's no way Butcher was gonna make it out alive, regardless of if they were gonna follow the comic or not.

I guess Soldier Boy is on permanent ice again, unless he gets taken out for that future The Boys Mexico spin-off.

So much for the rumors that the entire budget was saved for the finale. Worst ever finale i have ever seen for a show that i was invested in.

:ROFLMAO:

Embarassed to have watched this. This was about as classy as the Frenchie funeral speech. Granted i dont watch a lot of tv, but never thought i could be more disappointed by a show than GoT S8, but this has topped it overall. At least that had 1 or 2 good episodes at the start, big budget, good cinematography/visuals and some watchable fight scenes.

This had zero good episodes, zero good fight scenes, same production values as my friends movies, this was just cheap and as low effort as it gets across the board, a new low for final seasons in every single aspect with acting and A-train being the only passable things.

Crazy that I watched every single season and episode of this show, generally loved it, but then just completely stopped watching for the final 3 or 4 episodes.

And now as I read these spoilers, I dont even feel like I missed anything.

This last season was so trashola. The problem for me was how absolutely boring and dogshit and sappy all the good guys became.

Every single goddamn scene of the last season that didnt have Homelander or Soldier Boy in it was just some mixture of Kamiko, Frenchie, Hughie and Starlight just being melodramatic about their relationships or self confidence or something.

Every time Kamiko and Frenchie came on screen my wife and I would just roll our eyes, because here came the hyper predictable "Im so broken, but I love you, you keep me together, dont you love me??".

Fine do it once or twice. But it was just over and over and over and over ad nauseam.

I think finally the main problem for me was that Homelander and Soldier Boy became the best characters by such a wide margin... but since they were the bad guys we knew they were gonna lose... so I just lost interest.

I had absolutely no interest in watching Hughie win lol. Worst character.

Alright I think we all know that "Episode 8" was just a joke and there is no way it's a real episode.

The budget per Episode was around 11 million and this Episode doesn't feel like it, it's obvious they put everything on Episode 9 to troll us The boys fans and they did it this will go down in history.

So the reason why im 100% sure and fully serious of upcoming Episode 9 is that ep8 is Homelander's dialogue during the fight when he lost his powers.

He Mentioned that this can't be real and it isn't it foreshadows ep 9 as even Kripke and cast said that the Ending will be the best in the whole series,

Now remember the Leaks, yes you do, the homelander fights US millitary and snaps, that thing is for sure Episode 9 that got leaked from a VFX artist.

I am satisfied with the ending just like when I listen to The Piano man.

I don't think the resolved Soldier Boy being in Cryo though. I guess he is just there frozen.

I thought the season was mostly fine, but there is no doubt this was a bad finale. No two ways about it
:pie_pensive:

But…. I still overall think the hate is overblown. This is nowhere near as bad as Stranger Things was. Just for another comparison, I thought Peacemaker's season 2 finale was much worse than this.
