that's understandable, 7 is not that good as a resident evil game.
it's wacky sure, the baker family are some of the most iconic and unique antagonists in gaming, i LOVE the beautiful blend of comedy and horror capcom managed to strike with them.... but the gameplay as a whole is very lacking, they went a bit too far in the horror aspect rather than a great blend of both action and horror like RE2 Remake and RE8
a hot take to some but while elden ring was great, fromsoft isnt nearly as diverse as capcom
fromsoft perfected their craft sure but capcom is a jack and master of many trades. especially survival horror and fighting games
square and konami.... we don't talk about those
I hardly think that prefering capcom over fromsoft would be much of an hot take tbh, mh combat and creature design is as good as any fromsoft game and world had some incredibly intricate level design for the locations, and at least their games on pc are always great and not miserable pieces of shit like some fromsoft games.
Here is the thing with re7, the first 2-4 hours are great atmosphere wise and the baker are interesting enemies, but molded blobs enemies are a fucking joke and the game progressively lose its atmosphere the more you going forward, the protagonist is dull AF and first person doesn't work when your aim control, melee and general gunplay are pretty crap, you can kinda hide this in third person, but not in first person.
Re8 felt like a disjointed luna park, some cool parte but it didn't felt like a re game at all except for the obvious call back to 4, combat was still mediocre at best, people like to dunk on redfall gunplay but gunplay in first person re games is way worse imo.
