Review basic points
Gorgeous graphics, great story, gritty atmosphere.
Story is "pretty good" - contains some of the "best twists ever in a videogame".
Some of the lip syncing is out of sync slightly but it is not to noticable.
Instead of load screens Jackie is shown posing or "telling a story about his past" - these take place on the subway train as you travel between levels.
Lots of unlockables including an "entire back catologue of Top Cow comics". Adds great replayability.
Lots of side quests - e.g - collecting change from the subway tracks. Helping a vagrant busk with the harmonica.
Gameplay "should take you around 14 hrs depending on how much you want to see".
Score - 91%

I have after I Dl'ed the Gametrailers.com preview and the IGN Insider that was up a few days ago. After seeing those two I have my mind made up that I want the game and therefore don't want to see too much before I buy it..
Anybody else doing the same?
IGN said:If you're an IGN regular you'll already know all about The Darkness: how Jackie Estacado - the anti-hero in the game - is having the worst day ever, along with the birthday to end all birthdays; his mysterious transformation into a superhero from hell; but, more importantly, you'll know how The Darkness is shaping up to be one of the hottest games of the summer. However, one area of the game that's been quietly lurking in the shadows is the Darklings, the gremlin-like helpers Jackie can call on in his hour of need. We've touched on these little critters in previous impressions of the game but never in much detail - until now. As with the way Jackie eats the hearts of his victims to increase his powers, he also learns how to summon the Darklings as the game progresses, each possessing a unique personality and therefore purpose in the game.
As part of our continued in-depth look at The Darkness, we're unveiling the Darklings for the first time, one by one, starting right here. First up is the Kamikaze Darkling, a fearless little fighter who Jackie can send into a room of bad guys and BLAM!, they're all blown to bits.
The kamikaze has other uses too, like when the way ahead is blocked and Jackie just isn't strong enough to clear the path. No worries - summon the Kamikaze Darkling and he'll scuttle up to the obstacle and nuke it into oblivion. Check out the brand new video in the gallery below and see the Kamikaze Darkling in action.
Tomorrow we'll be sticking another Darkling under the microscope so be sure to check back and witness the Gunner in all its gung-ho glory.

Why do reviewers do this? It was a well written review and you can tell they actually played through the game, so why the cocktease? If this game is in fact 1080p natively (there's a 2% chance of this) I may actually pick it up for the PS3 since the hdmi connection would give me 1:1 pixel mapping.

Hammer24 said:This is not confirmed yet. As it stands, the bannable content is only on a bonus disc, that is just available in the US anyways.
But IF it comes true, even importing it would become illegal...

Hammer24 said:No, not really. This is the exact wording of the "retailer of my trust".
He´s still pretty sure, that the game will relase in Germany as planned (360 end of June, PS3 end of July).
The USK checked on the game well over a month ago, they gave it an "18 and over" (Keine Jugendfreigabe) tag, and planned to cut it anyway.
Indeed I have. Haven't watched a single video since Gametrailers started uploading them. Including the supposedly awesome intro. Although I accidentally read about parts of it.Smokey Bones said:Has anybody else been avoiding media on this game?

Man, its no wonder that publishers treat Europe like the bastard step-child...Hammer24 said:Sadly, I just got the confirmation: its banned in Germany. In this case it means, that we are not allowed to buy this game, so you won´t even see import versions here.

Wow. It's like Germany never left dictatorship behind... didn't know it was THAT bad over there when it comes to game censorshipHammer24 said:If you are german, thats illegal. If by chance customs opens it, the police will pay you a visit.
Hammer24 said:*shrugs* Of course they won´t care. I´d just advise to drive to Netherlands, Austria etc instead of letting them mail it...

Hammer24 said:It´s the other way round - because of our history, the showing of swastikas is against the constitution, thus automatically illegal.
