I beat the game. According to Steam, I've put in 34 hours into the game. It's crashed on me once in those 34 hours.
R9 280X user here.
Much improved, now playable with the R_swapinterval - 0 and Frame rate control Wait for vertical refresh = OFF in Catalyst Control Centre
What would be the coressponding setting for Nvidia?
So I am using:
GTX 970
i5-2500k at 4.5GHZ
8GB RAM
And the game bounces from 38 to 60fps with it averaging in the 43-60 range.
Is this normal? When people say the 60fps vsync is broken is this what they mean?
The game is not optimized for 60 fps. It's hard to get 60 FPS on a 980 too.
That's good to know. Thought my new video card was defective.
Stick with 30 and play with a controller.
Eww.
Still no fov fix. Quit getting my hopes up.
What does this mean?Cheese the game
What does this mean?
Means the mouse makes the game very easy, pulling off headshots with ease.
Also controller feels a lot better with 30fps than a mouse does. I didn't like the frame rate bouncing all over the place (I also have a 970).
What does this mean?

Your card is defective, might wanna check the temperatures when playing while it's still under warranty. Also, put your head against the PC and hear if there's any coil whine before it's too late.
You've ruined his night.

I wonder why me and Poetic.Injustice can't get 60fps consistently? Maybe it's just toward the beginning of the area where it is consistent, or those special changes you made.I've got a GTX 970 as well and was playing through the demo.
Using the unlocked framerate launch command, along with NVCP to framelimit to 58 and enable adaptive V-sync, I had a pretty constant 60fps at 1080. There was the occasional slight frame dip, but for the most part it was pretty stable at 60. The opening area with the rain is very demanding though, and I was getting ~50's there.
I'm probably going to play the rest of the demo with DSR downsampling, locked 30fps, and controller on my TV.
I'm on a weekly hunt. One day somebody will surprise me.Don't gotta post this daily brah.
The Evil Within has been updated but not the repository just at the moment [still some more environment stuff to configure], as a temporary solution, right click it and click Re-Install.
Flawless Widescreen has been updated for the evil within making the FoV work again.

So, have the game ever got exclusive fullscreen support? (so we can use SLI or G-Sync)
i have a i5 2500k with gtx 660 and 16 gb of ram...
will this run/look better on my ps4 or nah?
There is a free demo on Steam. Download and judge for yourself.
Try locking the framerate to either 30fps or 40fps or something. Trust me, game plays like crap on consoles.Damn, this game stutters like a bitch on my PC....sigh....guess ill have to get the ps4 version.

What's your PC specs?
The current recommendation for best performance is to use the console command to unlock the framerate entirely, then you Nvidia Inspector to lock the framerate at 58fps (the game still renders and displays at 60fps because the game automatically renders 2 fps over the cap) and then force adaptive V-sync.
On my 970 I was able to get a fairly consistent 60fps, with some drops in the more demanding areas.
Really? Locking to 30 worked pretty well for me.
I personally recommend sticking to PC since if you're going to be playing on the PS4, you're going to have to deal with the damn black bars and performance issues.
wait what? you can't remove the black bars on the ps4 version?
i tried locking the framerate..the stutter was still terrible in different areas and When I mean stutter is terrible..i mean it was Choppy
i5 2500k gtx 660 16gb ram
I don't mean locking the framerate with the ingame lock, that's a different and poor solution.
There is a console command you can add to the game so that it boots with an unlocked framerate. Then you can use your graphics drivers to lock the framerate at a specific point.
On a 660, I'd recommend just using the console command to unlock the framerate, then locking at 30 with your drivers.
That'll give the most smooth experience, and you'll have the option to remove the black bars if desired.
how do i go about doing that? I want to try that and see how it is.
Right-click the game in the Steam client and choose Properties.
Click Set Launch Options and add +r_swapinterval 0 for no cap.
Click OK and run the game.
Instructions...
Wow THANKS....such a huge improvement. Locked it at 30 and seems to be mostly at 30. guess I will get this with the steam sale then.
Thanks for the above instructions, will try these tonight. Grabbed the game on sale!
