SMAA but haven't tried, also downed my resolution to 1600x900 w Letterbox to get 60 FPS
I Prefer SMAA to FXAA so can deal with it if I have to I guess.
Is there any way to force MSAA?

I thought the mouse in the menus felt HORRIFIC. I hate to caps words, but man that is the only way to describe it.
SLI does't work (idTech 5 needs to go away), but you should easily be able to get 1080p 60fps with what you have.
Do you want 30 FPS and ultra wide aspect ratio or that plus options to change it?
Do you want to pay more for the game or less?
Do you want to use mouse and keyboard?
PC, no question.
Sub 30fps framerate or mostly 60fps/locked 30fps.
Difficult choice.
THe answer with that set up will always be PC, now way you are being serious.
so I would probably play this at 30fps with a ton of downsampling.
Would appreciate impressions of people with similar specs if you would be so kind.
i5-2500k @ 4.2Ghz
AMD 7850 2GB VRAM
8GB RAM
1 Xbox three hundred and sixty wired video game input device.
Thanks.
Is there any easy way to do this? I just bought a 970 so I wanna take advantage of it.
You are all set to use DSR with your new 970. Has never been easier.
edit: Unless this game has aspect ratio issue that prevent it from being easy.
Well locking to 60 is kind of weird for me, I guess since I have a 120hz monitor it makes the FPS not be able to lock @ 60?
Also do we have to enter the FPS command each time we load the game, it doesnt seem to save the setting![]()
You can recall the last console command even after restarting the game. So it's only 3 keys. Insert -> Up Arrow -> Enter.
Not much hassle
What did you guys expect would happen when you shorten the aspect ratio, lol?
The real issue is there's no FOV setting (or is there?), not that you lose horizontal area when going to a less wide ratio, that should be obvious.

Or just add it as a launch command.
Well, as it stands, it seems like it simply crops the left and right of the screen and zooms (eliminating black bars in the process). So the FOV becomes even more narrow.Does the black bar removal do anything bad to the IQ? I mean is the zoom done as a "postprocess effect" or is it rendering the zoomed image in full resolution?
Got it, was hoping maybe there would be some sort of cfg file we could have execute automatical.
I wasn't aware I could do this, can we enter multiple lines in the steam prefs?
I assume it would look something like this...
"+com_allowconsole 1 r_swapinterval -1 r_forceaspectratio 0 +com_skipIntroVideo 1"
Would this work?
At the risk of a derail, how did you do this, please? For me, G-Sync mode will not enable when playing those games and only those games, using the ROG Swift display. The 40 odd DirectX games I've tried have all worked.
I didn't do anything special man, just launched the games and my monitor went into GSYNC mode. I'm on the ROG Swift too so the little light turns red at the bottom.

Thanks for the reply. More research has uncovered that this is probably related to SLI and 60Hz. Even though it's disabled for Wolf, G-Sync doesn't seem to enable for that game unless you disable SLI globally in the NVCP.
Others have also stated that G-Sync mode does not work in Wolf unless you set the display to 60Hz (the horror).
Furthermore, it seems that with OpenGL games, G-Sync support is per-title, because each game can ship with its own OpenGL library. This might explain why people are having no luck with The Evil Within.
What are the differences between FXAA, MLAA, SMAA?
FXAA and MLAA are blur filters that "target" high contrast areas (like edges). They also hit high contrast areas like textures, too, so they're very reductive to image quality. They're more or less the same, just use whichever one you like the "look" of.
SMAA is beast mode MLAA, has a bigger performance hit, but detects edges better and blurs much less. You should use this one if possible.
Sorry if I missed it, but has anyone with a similar setup tried the game yet?
Really getting worried with the VRAM.
I've Got
AMD FX 6300 CPU
R9 270 2GB (7870)
8 GB Ram
Getting solid 30fps at 1080p with shadows down to medium and turning motion blur off.
What should I expect performance wise? 1080p Monitor.
I7 3930k @ 4GHz
32GB Ram
SLI 2x Nvidia 670 2GB

Fuck, I've got two monitors hooked up and when I go fullscreen, TEW automatically picks the wrong one.
Man these PC ports to start this gen off are something else. Am I reading correctly that a GTX 970 is only managing 50 fps @ 1080p? LOL
The game doesn't look extraordinary. We are not talking a Crysis here.
After Mordor on PC, I think I'm going to avoid the PC ports for games coming this fall. Hopefully Witcher 3 will be a proper PC-first game.
Yea it's slightly worrying.
DR3 should be added to the dodgy list too.

Try r_mode
Mordor is an excellent port, very scalable.Man these PC ports to start this gen off are something else. Am I reading correctly that a GTX 970 is only managing 50 fps @ 1080p? LOL
