Cuz somehow it feels really uncomfortable. Not sure what it is.
Adding just minimal black bars seems to make it feel a lot better.
EDIT: Ok, now I cant even get into the game. Keeps crashing on the loading screens.

EDIT2: Yep, game is fucked. Cant even get to the main menu. Crashes over and over and over, no matter what I do.
I've redone everything short of reinstalling the game. It just wont let me play it, whatsoever. It'll either crash right after the Bethesda logo or at the epilepsy warning. Wont let me get to the menu.
Yea, fuck this god damn game. Was really enjoying it, got to Chapter 3 and now I cant play it anymore.

Were those fixes for the earlier EW version? Both the "trainer" by K Putt is not working and the CT table as well. I get instant crash when applying them.

I've tried absolutely everything I can find and nothing is fixing the crashing on startup.

Had my whole evening planned to sit and have some drinks and play this game, but it had to go and be a piece of shit. I'm reinstalling the game(all 40GB's of it!) and if it still doesn't work I'm gonna try and get a refund.

Now I have the 970, I tried the demo again, 60 FPS option, and I think im seeing the stuttering people are mentioning, which I think because the game is doing that V-Sync thing where it flip flops between 30/60 FPS lock if the FPS dips, and with this games frame rate being all over the place its a bit grim 
Is there a way to unlock the frame rate with no V-Sync applied ?

Yep. If you unlock the framerate and apply external limit + vsync, 60FPS is smooth as 60FPS should be.
The game barely holds 60FPS longer than 20 seconds though.
Right on dude, that word gets thrown around way too much now, broken means "unplayable" not "invonvenient" or "unpolished". That said the game works for me but I'm not particularly enjoying it. It's really janky and sadly a little disappointing.
I was quite liking what I'd played of it so far. Janky? Yea, a bit. Disappointing if you were expecting RE4 2.0, I guess. But otherwise, I liked how menacing everything is and how it really seems to promote conservation and caution. That does bring me back to the good old days of survival horror.
I'd give like $10 to have this game work on me! lol I'm really quite upset about this. Got about another 20 minutes on my reinstall. Please God, do me a solid here bud!

Yeah, did the FPS unlock, no V-Sync, no more stutter, just a wobbly frame rate as expected, and nice sharp mouse aim

For shits n giggles, did you try the disable intro command ? In the demo, the game would crash on the vids if I touched anything while they played, bizarre as fuck, but if it loads up without crashing you might have found the culprit (although you shouldn't have to disable them, etc).
Yea tried that. It seems that the farthest I can get is to the epilepsy warning screen. As soon as I hit a key(when it asks to hit any key) or move the mouse or whatever, it stops.
That fix you're talking about seems to help a lot of people, but it doesn't help me. None of the suggestions I've come across do. Its weird cuz I was playing it fine at first. Kinda why I'm hoping that the reinstall fixes it. Pretty much outta options otherwise.

That's a shame, game is so good when it does work.
Guess I should be thankful that I've only had 1 crash in 60 hours if folks can't even manage to get it to boot up.

Fuck you. I don't know what you're laughing about. I desperately want to enjoy the game but it is literally a broken piece of shit in terms of being a functional piece of software. Does my inability to play the game really make you happy?

Only other things I can think of is maybe deleting the settings file in the User Folder > Save Games, and resetting any GPU changes made in CCC/Nvidia Control Panel, along with disabling shadow play/MSI afterburner/any of that kind of stuff. Other than that, its really bizarre it used to work and now it doesn't :/

Sorry to hear that. I just picked up the game during the Steam sale, almost scared to download 40gb and install it though. Reminds me of FFXIV, game outright refused to work on my setup, had to use the ps4 version until i built a new machine.
Didn't try deleting my settings file. I already uninstalled the game for the 2nd time, but that little tidbit gave me enough hope to reinstall all 40GB's of it for the 3rd time! lol
Probably wont get around to it tonight, but I'll cross my fingers tomorrow. I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment, but I will try whatever it takes if there's a chance.

Hopefully it is just something iffy in the settings causing it, it sounds like as soon as anything 3D starts up the crash happens, so resetting the graphics options might help. Worth a punt, but yeah 40GB download is a bitch just for a slim chance

Do not be. I also bought the game during the steam sale (because of good price and because they officialy patched in 60fps and fullscreen support for PC) . It runs fine on my system, no problems so far.
Glad to hear that, now if only the game could be a stable 60 at 2560x1440, it never dips under 40 so I guess that's ok but still :/
I hope the new PC update enhances performance.
I was pretty stupid buying it in the latest sales despite the demo crashing on me all the time, I was just going to wait until I had a PS4. I did then manage to get from chapter 3 to 6 without it crashing and then it crashed a bunch of times at the beginning of 6.

Previously I couldn't get past chapter 3, and then I suddenly could for no real reason. I hope that upcoming patch is good as this game is a mess right now. I just need it to stop hanging all the time, I'm fine with the framerate I'm getting.

Definitely. Would love to turn it up to 1440p myself, but the performance advantage of 1080p has me resisting that urge for now.
Chapter 6 seems to be giving a lot of people trouble.
Keeping my fingers crossed for when I get there.

just as i switch the game off after saying maybe i will try again after a patch it starts downloading a patch.

i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-4700MQ (2.40GHz) 6MB
8 gig ram
GTX765m 2 gig GDDR5
pre patch on opening scene I was getting frame rates all over the place from 25-40 at 1366 x 768 resolution with shadows at Medium, MLAA and black bars disabled. Also had reflections and SAOO turned off. most of the game though I have been getting 30+ (30-45) (just started chapter 5 i think.
tried all sorts of settings and the graphic ones only make small differences to the frame rate for me. Resolution lower than 1366 x 768 doesnt really improve much but higher starts to drop it.
Patch is down so gonna have a quick test of start area again and will get back to you all.

at same setting on starting sequence I now get 37-50 fps. Upped frame rate to 900p and its 30-40 fps. Really good improvement.

Getting much better performance after the patch. Now I get mostly 60 fps (with drops) in 1440p+SMAA, I used to get ~40-50 fps with 60 fps spikes when I looked at the floor . Also, stable 30fps at 4k. I have a 980. I don't know if my eyes are deceiving me, but seems like aliasing is worse in this patch, might be just bad memory on my part.

Getting MUCH better performance with my 780ti no drops at all.
Can't tell how much of an improvement there is for me on a 770. Still in the low 40s for the most part, at least in the area I'm currently in (Ch 3).
EDIT: should I be using Flawless Widescreen still? I was using it to fix the FOV but I wonder if it has a negative impact on performance after this patch.

Okay, I now feel like I'm literally one step away from a buttery 60fps after this patch. However...
I'm still getting a very minor micro stutter in the starting area when i swing the camera around. The FPS counter is flickering between 59/60.
Setting the FPS Limiter to 58, unlocking the frame rate via console, and forcing v-sync via Nvidia seems to have helped, but I'm still getting that tiny stutter. I feel like I'm sooo close though. Anyone?
