The full FFXIV Stormblood trailler

Why is everyone getting new skills a good excuse against tanks and heals? DPS are getting new skills too, so that's even less reason to give them both new jobs. If you want to do damage you already have the most options for flavor in the game, now it's far and away the most. Tanks and Healers want new options just as much as DPS do.

Also, say what you want about WoW but Blizzard always made sure to at LEAST make the new class double as a tank, if not go all three roles.
It's not an excuse, but acting like tanks and healers are getting nothing new to play with is disingenuous

I see the Four Symbols on the new world map. The Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermillion Bird of the South, the White Tiger of the West and the Black Turtle of the north.

Ilsabard and the Garlean Empire look certain to be for 5.0 at this point.

Who knows what will happen after that though. Meracydia to the south? A supposed "New World" to the west that they can pull a Seekers of Adoulin redux with?

Yeah good question, because it looks 3 times bigger now, I can't believe it's gonna be in 1 expansion lol.

Size isn't always a good thing - Hw zones were super inflated with mostly empty space. Also keep in mind the world map isn't 1-1, every area is an instanced cell. This isn't a seamless gameworld.

One thing I really regret about nu-XIV is how fixed the roles are. Give me back seigan/hasso stance dance off-tanking plz.

I knew some absolute beastly SAM tanks in XI. I agree with you, roles could be somewhat malleable in a game like that, and it was refreshing.

Going to doma too? Shit I still haven't even sunk my teeth in to heavensward yet. I keep getting to churning mist and making a new character. Help me. Were new classes announced?

Looks really neat. Fell off before even finishing the story for ARR a couple years since it just took forever to get anyone so I could do dungeons to progress, though I was playing as a Dragoon so I suppose it was my fault. Keep meaning to try jumping back in and I took advantage of that super cheap deal on Amazon a while back that included HW.

As someone that's not familiar with FFXIV this was really bad. The action and music were not well done.. the environments were pretty.

I have absolutely no interest in playing SAM.

Which means it's absolutely going to be my favourite DPS once I get to play it, as it happened with NIN and DRK.

Pretty disappointed there won't be a new tank class. Hopefully the new tank changes will be enough to keep me playing one. So that makes it 3 Tank, 3 Healer, and 9 DPS?

What's all this I hear about skills being reworked.

Should I even bother learning endgame dragoon rotations before Stormblood hits then?

Depends on how you intend to spend the next 4 months playing I guess. I don't expect rotations to become dramatically different either. Their goal is to reduce the massive DPS loss for messing up your rotation (along with pruning skills to make room for the new ones and reworking currently useless skills) but they've always said that difficulty would be similar to what we have now.

They're going to take old useless skills and make them useful while also getting rid of superfluous shit. We don't know the extent of that and what new skills will be added so no reason to hold off from learning current stuff.

Persona 5 and Nier!

Hoh, I like the sound of that. As a gamepad player I'd love for some skills to be consolidated into others.

Trailer felt a little weak compared to the really strong one they put out for Heavensward, but I guess a lot of that was the music. Seems pretty inevitable that I'll wind up coming back for this. The Samurai class is not really selling its niche so far, so I guess I'm way more interested in Red Mage.

Goodbye Stone II and III, hello Stone +3!

I want to see cross class skills removed or turned into modifiers for your actual class skills. It would cut down on skill bloat and remove a lot of "bad choices" like dragoons using Fracture and underwhelming but mandatory skills.

Like, if they could take away Internal Release and instead have it buff your True Thrust critical rate by a flat 10%, that'd be worth getting the skill (trait) for, save a button, and let them use that space for another DRG skill.

Or turning Mercy Stroke into a trait that makes any jumps that kill a target to return a flat health percentage.

If they wanted to introduce choice, let players pick which perks to choose based on the content.

There are a lot of pretty straightforward ways the combat can be improved.

I already mentioned it in the Community thread but they need to reduce the amount of cooldowns that essentially boil down to "do X%+ DPS for Y seconds" that we're already stacking. Stuff like Hawk's Eye is bound to be removed, especially if they end up removing accuracy as a secondary stat (please remove accuracy). Same for Rouse and Spur, one of these has to be consolidated into the other. Ideally, you'd have fewer, slightly more impactful cooldowns.

Fuck the other two roles am I right?

I can't believe they ACTUALLY gave both new jobs to the already most populous role. Tanks and healers like having new shit to look forward to as well. Oh you gotta balance tanks and heals first? I'm positive DPS isn't perfectly balanced either, so no new jobs I guess!

Bah. This is real disappointing as a tank main. First thing I did in HW was level DRK.

I bet it's also disappointing as a DPS main as now your already terrible queue times will get even worst as everyone rushes to try out weaboo and m'lady.

A fine trailer but doesn't hold a candle to the Heavensward one. I'm glad we're leaving Adelard finally though. I can't say I'm super stoked about an eastern themed expansion but we're definitely in for some gorgous art design so I'm sure I'll be into it when the time comes.

It's a bummer about no new tank but then they can't keep adding three classes each expansion. Also, if tank and healer players didn't move over to DRK and AST maybe that says something more about the classes and less about the players.

Damn. That was a fine trailer. I'm in love with the new cities/ locations already. I've always loved Eastern Asia settings in gaming so I hope they deliver with this game

I do hope Yugiri plays a big part in this. I've felt they had a bit of build up for her and then she just sat there doing nothing. I've yet to play the last couple of patches so maybe she has played a part in them.

I have terrible tank anxiety so I'm happy samurai is DPS

This brings up something I wish they'd take from WoW, class specs. When I'm playing that game I can still play a PLD whether I want to tank, heal, or dps. That combined with XIV's job system would offer a freedom I'm not sure another MMO has.
