Can i have a list fo good free games?

Mega Jump is a really fun game that's been free forever, and Gravity Runner is an awesome one that's free today, but will probably go back up soon. Super KO Boxing 2 (sort of a punch-out!! clone) is also free at the moment. Oh and Hoggy -- it is a really clever puzzle platformer with a nice clean graphical style, free as of this writing.

After that, you can get lots of good stuff free if you are attentive and patient. Here's what you do: go download the appshoppper.com app, and check it every morning/night. You will be downloading free stuff constantly, and some of it will actually be good! Make an account on their page and set up your wish list of all the good games you hear about on this thread. They will email you when they drop, and stuff goes free or on sale pretty often.

Have fun!

Are there any free apps (or without a monthly fee) that let you watch live tv? Mostly CBS, Fox, ABC. Trying to watch some football when I'm not home lol.

Running a jailbroken Iphone 4.

I'm not sure if any of them have official apps for live sports viewing, but you can try the justin.tv app. I've been able to watch college football and MLS soccer a few times with that one.

We're doing a little double-elimination Carcassonne Tournament in the Carc iPhone GAF if anyone wants to join. Beginners welcome. Going to be giving away some Carc tiles (specifically The Cult expansion) to the highest U.S. placer (but anti-Americans are also very much welcome to join).

So I finally joined the Ipod Touch crowd. I got the newest 32gb one. Can you guys list 5 must have games? I already plan on getting Plants vs. Zombies and Canabalt. What else?

Crimson Gem Saga
Angry Birds
Carcassone

uh... those are the only ones I'd consider "must-have" out of the 12 I own :P

Yeah making top 5 lists can be difficult due to personal tastes. For example, I'd say Lumines is a must-have but that's more because I just love it to death. Angry Birds, Peggle, Fruit Ninja, etc are pretty casual but could definitely be in the "must have" category.

That said, I've also digging Monster Dash. Halfbrick is quickly becoming a company that I'll buy anything they put out on the app store.

Angry Birds - Fun and Challenging 2D Boom Blox Game
Space Miner - Asteroids on Steriods + RPG/story elements
Doodle Jump - Best at the Doctors Office Time Waster
Sword & Poker - Puzzle Quest meets Poker
Mini Squadron - Fun Air Combat and good intro to onscreen controls

Thanks for the help you guys gave, I have the 4g 8gb now, it's got a pretty inscription too!

Any tips on cases and protectors? Do the sticky protectors reduce the sensitivity or anything?

No problem. It gets better too once you unlock all the spells and weapons. There is a sequel too but I haven't tried it yet... It's on my list of games to get when I run out of things to play.

I used a screen protector on my 3GS and really regret it after going naked on my iPhone 4. Screen feels and looks so much better without one.

I first tried an inviziSHIELD (full) on my IP4 which sucked balls.
Now I'm using this Crystal (front & back) jobber which is awesome!

Heh, yeah it is a big turn off. I was thinking of a case that covers the screen when you are not using it but I dunno if those exist

I'm used to cover protectors thanks to the PSP tho, so it doesn't bother me much

I don't know *anything* about poker. Would that be fine? I see Minsc recommending it all the time and I really wanna try it out.

I just use the Apple iPod Socks http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9720G/B

I'm not big on screen protectors, and I prefer using the device without a case...but I still want protection when I put it in my pocket or bag. This does the trick.

Ah yeah, that's a very good alternative! 30 bucks tho :x

I'll go checking for some 3rd party ones tomorrow, now I don't have to worry about looking for specific 4g branded stuff since it'll fit just fine

I still have a few of them if you want them cheaper

EDIT: ah ok.

All you need to know are the names of poker hands (full house, flush, etc). That's the extent of the poker part of the game.

And get S&P2, not the first. The sequel is more of a 1.1 than an actual sequel, so you miss nothing.

Update for Chaos Rings is out. Fixes the sound effects, bgm, and text bugs.

Wow, that was fast! :) Nice, any one want to confirm it works again?

Yea, I'd suggest them in reverse order, start with the second, and if you're desperately wanting more, go to the first.

The game's more strategic than typical poker because you can plan your hands out over the course of a round to get better hands (played cards stay until the board is filled and are factored in to later hands). You have 4 cards, and depending on what poker hands you make with them, you do different amounts of damage. But it might be in your best interest to block your opponent from accessing an awesome spot preventing yourself from a lot of damage, or to lay out some cards in certain spots to set up you towards the end where you start getting bonus hands.

What's cool is on top of all this, there's a RPG system where you have different weapons with different powers, and different shields with different powers, a money system for buying the stuff, and spells to alter the playing field. You also get trophies for clearing every square of a floor, so if you want to challenge yourself further you can go for that, instead of just jet-lining to the exit (and you get more money that way, and thus better loot).

Kind of surprised by the quick Chaos Rings update turnaround ad well.
I started playing it over the weekend, but wasn't really feeling it.

I can confirm that everything is working as it should.

How about the framerate with effects in battles? Is it super slow like after the patch like people were complaining, or the normal slow it was before the retina display? That's the last nit-pick one could have I think. Either way, I'll be doing the update tonight now that the bigger bugs are fixed.

Gah, I knew it. I couldn't find anything about the game releasing on the 15th of this month. Who/what started the rumor?

I don't know exactly who started it, but it sure did get out of hand, like was posted on that facebook page a couple of times, it was pretty awful of them to wait 48 hours before the supposed release to set the record straight when it's clearly no where close to releasing.

Haha, that google search is crazy. Oh yea, I think Chaos Rings still slows down a bit more than usual with the retina upgrade. I don't remember the game being that slow when I first played it.

Anyone try this clash of heroes: Might and Magic DS clone called ChronoSgear?

Monkey Island 2 for 99 cents is the second time I've thought something here was big enough news that it deserved its own thread for all the people who don't read through this one. The other was when Civilization Revolution was free.

Is it not possible to buy anything over 20mb without access to iTunes or wifi? I won't be home for another 10 hours and don't want to miss out.

You can buy it, just not download it via ATT.
Unless your phone is jailbroken.
You'll need to download it via wifi or iTunes on your computer.

I have purchased for cheap on the phone and downloaded later.

Awesome. Although, less awesome since I've never played through the first Monkey Island. For a buck though, totally sold. Been curious to see how it is on the iPhone.

I click to buy it and it comes up with the 'over 20mb' message and then I still have the option to buy it. Does that mean I've bought it anyway?

What screen protector did you use? I'm using ArtWizz ScratchStopper and it looks and feels exactly the same as it did before I put it on. Invisible Shield has a rough texture that I don't like at all so I would personally never buy that.

RE: Chaos Rings

There is still some slow down during special attacks which wasn't there before, but other than that, the game is aces again.

If it prompted you for your store password, and accepted the one you entered, then the actual purchase will have gone through.

The App Store on the iPhone doesn't reflect that you've bought an app, only that you've installed it. Which you haven't yet. If you try tapping on the Buy button again, it'll report back that you've already purchased it, and that you should try downloading via iTunes on your computer.
