Why do people fall for this screen protector bullshit ? The iPhone/iPod uses toughened glass. If you are actually wanting to protect your screen, surely you would want to put something on there that is harder than toughened glass, and not some flimsy plastic film ?

Screen protectors are the new Monster Cable/BOSE.

Has this been confirmed? I asked a while back and didn’t get a response.

Is the new Touch using the same hardened glass or some kind of plastic? I asked a rep in the Apple store the other day and according to him the new Touch does not use the same glass. He could very well be wrong though as retail employees don’t always know what they profess.

If I can get away with not using a front protector it will be cool. I am definitely buying one for the backside though since apple is in love with that pleasescratchme chrome backing.

No? I want something on there that will be scratched instead of my actual screen (which can certainly be scratched) and that I can simply swap out for a new one if it starts to look like crap. Chances are that something that would scratch an unprotected screen is not strong enough to tear straight through my screen protector and also scratch the screen underneath. I know exactly why I bought it, and it has nothing to do with "falling" for anything.

No iPod touch has ever used plastic. It may not be the same glass as the iPhone 4, but it's glass.

Eh? I personally hate the asthetics of most cases. The most I would go for with my iphone 4 is a white bumper if I could find one.

I basically use a nice microsoft branded wireless mouse cover and just pop it in and out when I need to use it. The glass is scratch free thus far with 2 months of use compared to my Wife's DROID with an LCD screen which needs a plastic screen protector I'm impressed.

What scratches a toughened glass panel ?

I've owned 2 iPhones and both panels have remained in perfect condition. One of these is a completely unblemished original iPhone from 2007, with it's second owner. Neither has ever had a case or protector of any kind.

Somebody said in one of the OT threads, the metal keys in your pocket are softer than the screen on your iPhone.

Hmmm perhaps a film isn't needed then. I dunno, the concept scares me.

Also thank you very much for the Monkey Island heads up. I was curious and 99 cents is worth at the very least satisfying my curiosity. I've now purchased 6 games and I still don't have an iPod yet. :lol
 
A small issue with Flight Control.

Played a game yesterday, yay Game Center integration and whatnot.

So I landed 20 planes and the achievement info popped up.

But when I got to Game Center that achievement wasn't there.

I even deleted the game and installed it again, but no matter how many 20 planes I land I won't get the achievement notification again nor will it get registered on game canter.

Other achievements are registering just fine.

What up?
 
Hey..just out of curiosity is OpenFeint working for everyone? it looks to have been down on my games for a few days now.

I had the 1st Gen Touch unprotected which i just recently sold without a scratch.
My mate managed to scratch his iphone 4 front and back from just putting it in his pocket and onto tables within a few weeks of having it. Im not taking the risk, i got 6 screen protectors for £3 from Amazon.

The achievement is for landing 20 jets; are you sure it was jets (and not other planes) you were landing?

Good point, thanks. On my "retries" after re-installing the game I actually just landed 20 random planes and then crashed. Will try now.

edit: yup, did the trick! thanks once more!

The App Store on the iPhone doesn't reflect that you've bought an app, only that you've installed it. Which you haven't yet. If you try tapping on the Buy button again, it'll report back that you've already purchased it, and that you should try downloading via iTunes on your computer.

It doesnt say tha I have purchased it when it tap the buy button again. Just keeps saying it's over 20mb. It better still be on sale when I get home!

I agree with you on the second point. My iPod Video looks like it's been through a war zone, it wouldn't have a resale value if I'd kept it in a case the whole time either.

Nor do I have plastic covers on my couch.

I have not played it myself, but my girlfriend loved this game when she was trying out the new ipod touch at the apple store. I was to busy charging my iphone. :lol I've downloaded the demo for the mean time, until it finally drops in price.

Someone on Toucharcade played it and says the buttons work consistently now. Tried restarting your device?
 
Yeah, have done both a regular restart and a hard reset (holding the home button and power). Only thing I can think of is that I have jailbroken my 3GS so that *might* do something, but surely only if the software I run is illegitimate (which I can assure you it isn't).

Maybe I'll try reinstalling.
 
Crimson Gem Saga is avaiable for 4,99$ now - hmm, i never played ot on psp, would you guys recommened it ?

The controls are fucked. It's a bargain for that price, assuming they'll fix the controls sometime in the future, but honestly, I've stopped playing it because of the controls. They really are disastrous, esp. in shops.
 
Fuck. Uninstall, hard reset, reinstall STILL doesn't fucking work. Argh.

Edit: Lite doesn't work either. Anyone with a 3GS wanna test?

This sounds bad, ill probably but it now and wait for them to fix the control issues. Did you play version 1.01 ? It says that they already fixed some problems with the controls.
