Apparently. TouchArcade folks seem to like it, as well as The War of Eustrath. I assume you played that, then? How was the translation? Even in games with negligible amounts of text a poor translation tends to turn me off of the game entirely.

I've been playing other TBS first, finished Mecho Wars (boring after a while until it gets challenging in the final mission), and Military Madness: Neo Nectaris (no building elements, combat a bit too random, relies too much on luck, but pretty challenging at times), still have to check out Rogue Planet, Song Summoner and WoE after I finish getting through UniWar. I only booted up WoE for like 20 minutes, can't really say. I don't need any story to enjoy that style of game though, which is why I got excited to see another game by the people who did WoE.

Just got Phoenix Wright, and I'm sort of sad that it doesn't run as smooth as the original. But it's still wonderful to have it for so cheap.

I've just dropped the price of my iPad game Little Things to 99c till the end of October.

Currently sitting at #11 in the chart. There's a lite version if you're scared about jumping into an unknown. Hope you all enjoy it!

My wife loves this game-she's obsessed. She's gotten the 100% completion score a while ago-but keeps playing.

Any chance of a sequel or add-on?

I've been playing final fantasy for the past hour. I made a lot if progress in the earth cave when all of a sudden the game abruptly kicks me out to the home screen. I relaunch the game and sure enough all my progress is lost.

I have to ask as I'm still rather new to iPod gaming: do you guys experience a lot of technical issues? Right now since I just lost an hours worth of progress I'm a bit miffed however this isn't the first time this has happened to me. It doesnt matter if I'm in a game or just safari, occasionally I'll just get kicked out to the home screen. I've also noticed that my game performance dips from time to time. Some days my games run smooth as butter while other days I experience noticeable frame drops.

Is there something I need to be doing that I'm not? I read about the hold home & lock button trick but that doesnt seem to improve things at all. I don't want to have to save every ten minutes in my games just to avoid losing progress.

This has only happened to me in Safari, when it's trying to load an image or web page too big. As for games, rarely. This is on an 2nd gen iPod btw.

So it happens on most applications and quite regularly? If so, there's something wrong with your device. Never heard of anyone having this issue before, though you might want to wait for other advice. About slowdowns: I've found out that if I go a couple of weeks without turning off my iPod (just leaving it in standby) it begins to slow down a bit. To rectify this I just turn it off and on. Maybe try that next time?

OMG had to format iPod because it won't sync and now all my save files are gone :(

Question for anyone with Puzzlequest hd - how do you buy things? Do you have to get to a certain point in the story? At the moment I can look at items but there's no option to buy, even though I have enough gold.

Items also have a stat requirement listed. You can't buy much early on.

I consistently had these sorts of problems on my 2nd gen iTouch after upgrading to iOS 4. Safari, Last.fm, Pandora, YouTube, basically nothing would stay open for more than 10 minutes. One of the bigger reasons I upgraded to the 4th gen.

Can anyone say what is the best adventure game for iOS?
I already played Phoenix Wright on the DS :/

Puzzle Agent, Jules Verne Return to Mysterious Island (very hardcore it its structure), Broken Sword, Beneath a Steel Sky and the Monkey Island games.

How big are iPhone games in general, i'm getting an 8gb Touch as a gift this week which to me doesn't sound like a lot.
I've owned an 8gb 2g touch since early 2009 and never maxed it out, granted I could install everything I own and fill it (a good 150+ apps) but a lot of them are old, I don't play them, never got into them or impulse buying from 59pence sales :P

A few good games are a couple of hundred meg but most of the great novelty ones like angry birds end up being only 35meg, 8gb will be fine unless you like to carry a ton of music along with you too, in that case I would suggest the next one up.

Has anyone tried Deep Deep Dungeon?

Looks like it has some potential to be an interesting little dungeon crawler. From the video I saw earlier it looks like combat is done through a timing-based golf-swingesque bar that, I assume, is dependent on your weapon of choice. I dislike the aesthetic but the game could be fun.

Really enjoying DDD actually. It could use some depth, but for a pick up and play dungeon crawler on your phone, it's wickedly addictive.

Another game I've been hooked on since yesterday is Phoenix, a bullet-hell shooter.

The TouchArcade thread has good impressions, including mine.

A lot of smaller devs shoot for under 20MB cause that's the 3G download limit on iPhones, while generally I think most are probably under 50. The bigger devs tend to push 100+ though, the two Cave shooters are probably the biggest ones I have, both around 300MB (lots of sprites). 8GB should be fine for apps but you'll probably have to limit use with stored music/videos/photos if you load up a lot.

If i bought every game recommended in this thread that was just £1.99 or above id be in debt :o seems a reasonable question to ask

Well, we've discussed the game from numerous angles in this thread. So it should be easy for you to form a decision already. There's not much more to say about it. If you're still hesitant because of the price after reading opinions, clearly, the game's not meant for you!

No it's not. People have been buying lesser games on Game Boys for $20-40 for decades.
Of course its reasonable, i cant afford to buy every £2.39 game on offer and asking for an opinion seems valid. No need for you and the other guy to act the douche :/

Just finished the first Ace Attorney game after the recent crossover news spurred me to, and I want more. :D
Any news of the second game (was it Trials and Tribulations or Justice for all? I dunno) hitting the store soon? The DS versions are still a little costly, and I'm out and about a lot so the WiiWare editions are a no-go. :(

I have a 32 and wish I had gone for the 8. I've had at most, around 5GB on my iPod at any given time.

Yes, unless you want to carry around your entire music or video collection, you don't need a lot of space. Most games are like 10 to 100MB. Really not big at all.

I have just over 10GB of apps so 32GB is just right.

That way I can have music, videos and pictures on there without worrying about buying apps in the future.

This thing called Catapult Madness is free for a limited time. Basically, you are a king who throws his peasants on a catapult.

It's oddly addictive. Game Center support too.

Yeah, it's pretty cool, already got 8 achievements :lol

Heh, 7 of my installed games total half your entire (installed) collection, Crimson Gem Saga (800MB), Dondonpachi Ressurection (485MB), Chaos Rings (305MB), Song Summoner (280MB), Battle for Wesnoth (255MB), Phoenix Wright (230MB) and Final Fantasy II (190MB).

That Reckless Racing looks to be pretty big too, when it goes on sale I'll probably grab it. Crimson Gem Saga definitely is an odd-ball out size, not too many other titles that approach 1GB, except maybe GPS software.

If I bought every game even mentioned in this thread, and an unlocked iphone 4 to play them on, I still wouldn't have spent as much as my monthly mortgage payment. In debt? There's exaggeration, and there's just being cheap.

The 32 is way better than the 8 though!

gonna buy a 32 one as well this week. had a 8 touch two years ago and it ran out of space pretty quickly. can't wait to get the new one. i'm currently waiting for the chinese apple reseller in dalian to get it. they told me it will arrive on the 31th...

I was going to go for the 8 GB initially, but then just decided to fork over the extra cash for 32GB one. Considering the amount of music I'm going to put on this thing in addition the apps, I'm just glad I went with that one.

The main reason for picking a 32 over an 8 was the immense jump in hardware power in the previous generation, mostly. Although sure, with enough music, 8 GB is too little in any case.
In this iPod generation, I guess the 32 and the 8 have the same basic hardware, I'm not really sure though. The Apple specs site doesn't indicate otherwise, anyway.

Tilt to Live and Reckless Racing are the same price I'm trying to decide.

Do they both have retina and GC support?
tilt to live has gc, reckless doesn't. dunno bout retina

there's not much of a basis for comparison, but i find tilt to live way more fun just based on an hour or so with reckless so far. it's good but just kind of bland to me. someone needs to get the ironman stewart license or something. tilt to live otoh is a geowars-like game that has a great amount of ocntent and that i actually prefer to geowars.

Reckless Recing is closing in on my most played games already. It's all about your preferences, I love top down racers and this one has some of the most perfect mechanics of the sub-genre ever. Seriously well-thought out and adjusted gameplay and careful design of the tracks, so I play them over and over again to work my way up the rankings.

For the amount of fun I had with that game it is easily worth 2 or 3 times that price. Its better than most DS games I have and at a fraction of the cost.

FFFFUUUU, Game Dev Story. Started a game to see what it's like, suddenly 1 hour has passed and I'm late for work, wondering WTF just happened. Also, the next developer that fucks up on improving the game causing megabugton is getting thrown down the stairs.

Actually, you can use a huge amount of bugs to your advantage. Bugs lengthen development time, which gives you more opportunity to gather research to then improve your product with items (for instance, boost fun). As long as you can't actually use research to your advantage in such a manner though, I guess a lengthened development time is not advantageous at all because profit's not on lock yet.

By the way, make sure you get the fun booster as soon as possible, and use it everytime a new development stage is entered (alpha, beta, bughunt). Fun is THE sales booster, along with ads.

Thanks, I'd better square some money away for that dealer dude. I also need to read the OT for more pro tips.
