Is the changes big enough to justify buying the new Deluxe one? Any changes to performances and so on?

If you already have the other SimCity, don't bother buying this, it's the same game basically.

That pisses me off (iPod Touch 4G owner). Especially because the iPhone/iPod version only has 5 tracks. Wonder if EA is behind this move, I smell in-app purchases...
Ya, it's stupid. And what it makes it all the worse is that they try to make up for it by toting that the iPhone version actually has 10 tracks (5, plus the 5 in reverse)! Whatever, it was only 3 bucks and it was fun.

Does anybody know how to hire a Hardware Engineer in Game Dev Story? I'm sitting on 130 million and I can't figure it out....

WOW i can barely break even making a game

No way. It's 30fps (in Retina at least) with drops.
It is, isn't it. I thought it was smoother earlier and that it'd dropped because I was multi-tasking etc but in fact, I was just wrong. I'm going to refrain from commenting on 30/60 in future ;)

Still, I think it's a lovely looking game.

Train someone to level 5, change their job using the manual from the salesman, train them to level 5, rinse & repeat until they're level 5 in all jobs. Then you can change them into a hardware engineer.

Alternatively, the Hollywood Agent found me a Chimpanzee that happened to be a hardware engineer.

Don't worry you'll get there. Think I had like a trillion dollars at the end of my first playthrough and I was hardly cheesing or playing strategically in any way.

Palace-you have to get an employee to level 5 in all disciplines (i.e., change careers constantly or hire someone who has already maxed out in several and change them a couple times). Check the thread for more details.

Yup, it's gorgeous. The physics are lovely, there's loads of stuff being kicked up and the detail's incredible.

Great game.

Awesome, thanks!

bought Reckless Racing a few moments ago and fired it up. Great, great game. Framerate can be a bit iffy at times but nothing too crazy (which is usually a huge pet peeve of mine but for some reason I don't mind it on here). I love the graphic detail and the physics.

No kidding. I just released my first "all 9" game and almost fist pumped. It's all about hiring the right talent.

I've got 5 Hall of Fame franchises, got a 39 on one of my new IPs. It sold 10 million copies, and it was an original concept. But you know what mattered? The fan letter! I felt like the king of the world! My only complaints:

- I want more! Bigger office, more goals. More combinations, workers that request/demand raises and perform according to your response.

- The music is awkwardly bad in the biggest office.

- Ability to bid for other companies / IPs for your console? Idk, I ran out of realistic things to nitpick.

Rate the game down on the App Store!

App Store reviews in general are a plague of this earth.

I usually just rely on the impressions of people in this thread and on CAG.

Can't believe there are reviews for Angry Birds Halloween on the App Store moaning about the price. It's 59p FFS.

Smh.

One of the biggest points of anger/facepalm with me in regards to iOS gaming. After paying $20-60 for games over the years, complaining about a freaking $0.99 game is just ridiculous. Same thing with some of the "more expensive" titles like PES 2011 or Street Fighter IV. Paying $7-10 for top tier games is nothing to me. The only time I'll get pissed is when I buy a game and the thing just won't work (see Groovin' Blocks on 4th gen iPod Touch).

I sometimes wonder how often a developer just wants to scream to the top of their lungs at some of the garbage reviews.

Graphics are great, and I love how you can knock objects around. But the handling seems odd - like you speed up while in a slide. And it's very easy on bronze, hope it picks up

Overall I get a very skid marks vibe, but some of the turn warning markers make me think of the arcade game 'Mille migle'

Seriously I'm going to create a game 'Angry Nerds' with the objective to destroy all people who complain about 59p games being too expensive, or feel they are getting some kind of raw deal if an update isn't free!

I was just reading some of the reviews and you have some people moaning that the company Rovio ripped off clickgamers game.... what???

Rovio made the first one you bloody idiots! :lol

Oh and the rest 'Doodle jump gave us a free update, why can't you OMG, you guys suck'.

*cry*

I agree, more or less (EDIT: about it being ridiculous to be anxious over minuscule prices), which is why I wonder about my indecision on giving Game Dev Story a shot. (I must admit, part of it is just concern that hardcore gamers are just giving a type of game they'd normally ignore the time of day due to the subject matter).

I think the App Store has some of the best values in gaming. Carcassonne, which I've never played online, has kept me busy for some 15+ hours, and that's assuming seven minutes a game... so probably more.

Tons of free games have been well worth my time... and now the problem is maybe more that I don't need anything new to remain entertained.

Didn't Apple change it so you couldn't leave behind comments or rate an app unless you actually owned the app?

yeah, they did that a long time ago.

the only recent change is in iOS 4, they don’t prompt you to review an app on the iPhone if you just finished deleting it

which, by the way, is the best thing they have ever done

we need to have a gaf reckless racing room tonight! i am loving this, even though i haven't totally figured out drifting yet.

Canadians: Is it just me, or are 0.99c games now $1.29?

nope. not for me.

side note: Game Dev Story is now number ten on the top charts in the Canadian store for ALL APPS. number four in top grossing

cool

I'm super tight on money atm so I have only downloaded like 5 games. If anyone has some free games they'd recommend then please do share. All I play is stardunk and shibuya atm.

Anyone with a little spare time on their hands interested in beta testing my upcoming game, Wispin?

We're finally in the wrapping-up stages of development :) In addition tracking down the remaining bugs, we're also looking for some last-minute feedback and opinions, and I'd love to have some fellow GAFfers involved! If you're interested send me a PM or just shoot an email to betas@grumpyfacestudios.com (please include device type, OS version, UDID, and also be sure to mention you're from GAF!) Thanks peeps!

Hey, I'd love to give it a go. I'll shoot you a PM in a minute but just wondering what's UDID? Might be something obvious and I'm just blanking.

I tried the iPhone demo and thought it was a god awful port. It controlled horribly and just generally felt wrong.

Finally was able to upgrade to an iPhone 4 without lining up. Immediately bought Espgaluda and Dodonpachi. Sooooo happy now.

tempting but I already played it to death on PC. anyhow, when is puzzle quest 2 due? I hate when multiplatform launches are staggered :(

Gameplay- and level design-wise Reckless Racing might be the best top-down racer I've ever played. (Note: I prefer weaponless ones). However I need MORE of it. Five levels? NO. Eight levels would be a natural amount. The only way I'll forgive this is if, in addition to giving us the three pad exclusive levels, they keep on churning out new levels for DLC so that the game can live on and on.

I still can't get over the fact that Madfinger managed to pull off 60 fps with visuals like this.

Damn impressive.

I love being able to save replays at any time on PES 2011.

You're making me hate Sonic 4 again
